Hello!!
I'm taking the Rabbits on the ROAD. Thanks to Matt Nathanson for having us join his caravan.
Bringing this album to life on stage is a daunting and awesome task. I'm excited. One thing for sure...
this feels fresh. See you there.

Bought my ticket! I'll be at her DC Show (I KNEW she'd play the 9:30 club, I just KNEW it) on 9/28. Can't wait!!!
-
That tour is real west coast heavy, isn't it?
Geez, I work within walking distance from Terminal 5.
No brainer!
Dan/NS
-
How are there NO CA dates :(
-
What, she's only the supporting act??? :(
I'm not sure I wanna attend these, I mean, I don't even know who that Matt dude is... ???
-
Only US-dates:( I'm still not giving up hope that she will come to England or somewhere in Europe.
-
Definitely going to the 09/28 one. My husband JUST bought tickets last night for us to see Primus on 09/27 :-[
-
I'm thinking the two PA ones and Buffalo for me.. possibly the Toronto. who is the other guy ? is he good?
maybe by "bringing the album to life" and "fresh" mean that she will have a choir or drums or something new in general compared to the summer tour. I wish she had announced some of these earlier though, it's not easy for people to get time off work when we are scheduled months ahead of time!
-
What, she's only the supporting act??? :(
I'm not sure I wanna attend these, I mean, I don't even know who that Matt dude is... ???
Seriously. I initially thought he was the supporting act. Matt Nathanson should open for Vanessa, not the other way around.
Oh well. At least we have tour dates. Beggars can't be choosers. :P
-
We should make a list of people who can possibly attend these shows. I would go for a "maybe" for now, just because we don't know when she's gonna tour again. But I'm on the fence.
If I do come, I may not stay for this Matt dude! lol (not to sound rude but I don't care about his music :P)
-
I'm thinking the two PA ones and Buffalo for me.. possibly the Toronto. who is the other guy ? is he good?
He's actually not that bad. I listen to his stuff occasionally. His music is very similar to Joshua Radin's...
This is one of my favorite songs by him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjG7_wt7dIc
-
I've tweeted R&T about this, asking if maybe she was gonna headline later in the year. I don't wanna use up all my days off left only to find out she's gonna tour on her own later.
It's odd she's not headlining, I wonder why she's only supporting.
-
In a few interveiws she said something about using local children choirs. Which would probably mean she would headline. Which would mean more tour dates....lol I'm just saying what could happen if she does what she said she might do.
-
IF she was headlining I would consider to travel to US. But traveling 4000 miles to see her as an opening act. Nah.
-
How are there NO CA dates :(
:(
-
you forgot to list the new orleans show on 9/25. i think that's the only one i can attend. i'm so sad right now!
-

Fixed:)
-
Rad.
Choir and percussion? More rad.
-
yeah, not real excited about this. We'll see. I didn't go to any with that JR dude either. But I am in need of an EC trip. We'll see.
-
No UK dates :( :'( :'( disappointing, still hoping she might come over.
-
I will probably go to the terminal 5 show.
-
Not too psyched about this. Good news is Madison is a Friday and Chicago is a Saturday. Bad news is I might be dropping some coin on Brewers playoff tickets. I'd hate to book a trip then have to cancel everything to hit up a baseball game.
Decisions decisions...
-
*facepalm* I thought it was on a wednesday... I was looking at september... I am going to the 10/14 show! I just bought tickets. My first show... Eeeee!
-
No UK dates :( :'( :'( disappointing, still hoping she might come over.
Same. I keep faith that she will!
-
Grrr... St. Louis was the next date after Chicago...
-
I'm really happy for her! This is great exposure. And the fact that Matt Nathanson is pretty awesome. So great.
Too bad she's not stopping by SF again :/
-

You have no idea how much I hate that JR (Joshua Radin I believe?) guy. He has a new song and all I can think of is how badly his fans behaved at those concerts.
Eerily, JRs new song gets me confused with Matt Nathanson's new song. Very dopple ganger-ish.
-
How are there NO CA dates :(
:(
YES I ADD ON TO THE SAD FACE.......T__T
but i guess i'd rather see her than not see her at all.
then again i'd rather watch vanessa for like 3 hours than just 45mins - 1hr
-
May possibly travel to see Vanessa this tour :)
-
As of right now I know that I really want to go to the Chicago show. I would buy my tickets now but have to wait for next paycheck b/c I'm using this one for stupid text books. I only know the one song from Matt, Come on get Higher. I enjoy it. I would stick around and see him afterwards I think. I didn't for Joshua when she came last in the summer.
-
I'm listening to some Matt Nathanson and trying desperately to like him - it's just really not my type of music. He's a talented guy, but I can't imagine staying for him. So I think I'll just show up right before Vanessa goes on, stand in the back and enjoy the music, then go home. I could only imagine myself staying if Jennifer Nettles actually shows up for their duet hahaha.
By the way, I'm amazed Cone On Get Higher came out in 2007 - I feel like that song's been around for longer than that.
-
With this type of thing. Would Vanessa play in the beginning or the end?
-
With this type of thing. Would Vanessa play in the beginning or the end?
She's opening for him right? So she would in the beginning.
-

Yeah I assume she'd be at the beginning. Although everyone is so PC these days, so they say "with Vanessa Carlton" as opposed to "Opening Act: Vanessa Carlton" haha
-
I hope that the Pittsburgh show doesn't sell out! I'll totally be attending that, as well as the Ohio one. (Possibly)
-
Still can't get over the fact she's not coming to Cali :/
*shakes fist at east coast!*
-

I agree with you haha the shaking of the fist action made me chortle :) hehe
-
Still can't get over the fact she's not coming to Cali :/
*shakes fist at east coast!*
Yeah, it's weird that this tour is almost exclusively East Coast - it makes me think maybe this is only a part of what she's doing - like maybe she's touring with Matt Nathanson for a time and then will do other venues by herself or opening for someone else. After all, this tour is less than a month long and only in a small part of the country - and didn't she say she was definitely going to perform in London at some point? I don't think this is the only touring she's going to do.

i sure hope not, but it's definitely not the end. she still has a while before she goes back to her rabbit hole!!!
-
YES SHE'S IN PHILLY ON OCT. 1ST! I am not coming home from college that weekend. :)
-
This is really bugging me, I'm only 1 hour away from Madison and I can't go. My dad says since she is only an 'opening act' he won't drive me. Please tell me that an opening act does more than one or two songs? :-\
-

From what I heard they play 45min to an hour.
-
@Oynx: Really? It's cool that you are doing that. I'm sure Vanessa would like to hear that fans go through that much to see her live.
Anyways, thank you for the information! I read that the concert was 2 1/2 hours? So maybe Vanessa will be the first part of the concert? I'll have to look into that, because if that is the case I'm defiantly going!
-
Got the official email for the Fall tour today. So I guess that's all we're gonna get for sure. What to do... ???
-

I can't speak for this specific tour, but for every concert I've EVER been to, the opening act has done more than 1 or 2 songs. KT Tunstall's opening act did 3; Britney Spears' did 3, 3, and 5 (the 5 was Jordin Sparks haha), Sara Bareilles' did 3 each, Fallout Boy's did 3 each, Lady Gaga's did 4 or 5, P!nk's did 4...
The point being, it varies, but definitely more than 1 or 2 songs. I think we could get as many as 4 from Vanessa, especially since she's an established artist who already has well-known songs. In most cases, the opening act isn't as well-known and only has one or two singles anyway haha.
-
Most opening sets are 30-45 mins long. V played for about an hour and 10 mins during her headline tour so yeah, it's a big difference. Well worth it but I don't plan on going to any and am okay with that (for now ;) )
I have gone to many a shows where I HATE the opener and HATE listening/waiting through it so be glad he's not the opener. You can just leave after. I have also done that many times.
-
Can we take it she is not coming to England or are they still looking at it?
-

She said she would. I wouldn't give up hope just yet!

I hope so :)

I just wish she would come down south. geeze.

Yeah it's too bar she's not listed as performing with Matt in Austin, TX. I'd totally hit that up

Yea I'm only in Dallas. i could make it. oh well. someday hopefully.

I'm still hoping she will! :)
-
I've been thinking about this for a few days now and I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna attend. I really wanted to see her twice this year (well, 2 different tours I mean) but I don't feel that excited by her just being the opening act. :-\

I totally know how you feel - especially since I just KNOW everyone's going to be talking during her set, like with every opening act. But I'm going because I live in DC and it's never a certainty that someone will tour here - I'm actually really surprised/happy that she's doing two performances here at all.
-
I'll be at the Chicago show.
-
I've given it thought and decided on not going. It would be too much of a hassle, and I'll be moving around and state hopping next year so maybe I can catch a full length concert (One can only hope).
To everyone that is going, make sure to let us all know how the concert went!
-
I feel really sad that a lot of us, me included, will not be following her this part of the tour :( I decided that I'm only going to go to the Buffalo show since it's only an hour away. I really can't afford to fly/drive/train ride and rent hotels, especially since she's opening and it will only be 30-45min. I'm very sad about it, but unexpected financial things popped up and it just doesn't make sense to spend the money..
-
To anyone who attends a venue: please tape and post on YouTube! : ) Would greatly appreciate it.
-
I've decided that Vanessa isn't opening for Matt Nathanson; Matt Nathanson is closing for Vanessa.
Won't you join me in my delusion?
-
Haha, I'll certainly join in that. The best artists always have a closing act, it's well known in live music. :)
-

Not a delusion! I like this concept.
-
So, I just found out that Vanessa is coming to Indiana University of Pennsylvania on October 10th!!!!!!!! I bought my ticket and I hope that my seat is at a good enough angle so that I can get pictures and hopefully videos for everyone! I'm literally so excited!!!!!
-
I'm thinking of heading to the Chicago show, but we'll have to see how my schedule ends up falling into place.
Also, I've seen Matt in concert once before (about 3 years ago) and he actually puts on a pretty decent show. Lots of covers, good crowd interaction and he plays all his hits. I know at one point he did a medley of a bunch of different songs and, unless my memory is very much mistaken, he had the chorus to A Thousand Miles as part of it. He also did a meet and greet after the show and he was a really nice guy, very gracious to his fans and whatnot.
-
Well, hopefully depending on my place and what time I arrive at the two shows I'm attending I will totally take pictures and videos for everyone! I'm super excited! Are any Nessaholics going to the Pittsburgh show!? If so you should travel to Indiana, PA because Matt Nathanson and Vanessa are also coming here the week after!! It's pure magic =)
-
I've been seeing ads for Matt Nathanson's new album EVERYWHERE - Facebook in particular, but like seriously every site I go to, there's a Matt Nathanson ad haha. It's getting me excited for the show next week (!!!).

he just performed on Conan last night too.
-
It's finally here. Tomorrow, Vanessa is performing at the House of Blues in New Orleans. I know she's opening act and all.. but after tomorrow night, it'll change to the "House of Vanessa". Heh, for us. 8) All of us will be there supporting her in spirit. I wish the best of luck to Vanessa (she doesn't really need it.. hehe).
Also, the 9/27 Washington D.C. "9:30 Club" is the only venue that is sold out. Interesting..
-
Don't forget to record to record anything new! ;D have a great night
-
Can't wait to see her.
Have fun to those going! :)
-
(I posted this in the 9:30 Club thread, but re-posting it here cuz I want input)
I'm trying to decide what I should do. Part of me wants to just get to the show five minutes before it starts, hang out in the back for her set, then leave. Another part of me wants to get there REALLY early (like 4pm or something haha) and be as close to the front as possible, but then I'd probably have to stay for Matt cuz it would be hard to leave between sets with all the other people there.
Any ideas?

I've seen Matt Nathanson a few times, and even if you're not crazy about his music, he puts on an excellent show. I'm a fan of his older stuff and many of his fans are really annoying - but he's hilarious and like you said, has great interaction with the crowd. I'm going to both the DC shows :-)
-
I wasn't going to go to the Chicago show because I've got another concert to go to the week after and I was bummed about V being the opening act, but now that I see on twitter she's written that she will sign autographs after each show... I think I might just go.
-
Ahhhh, I'm SO happy she's going to be signing autographs and all that! I can't wait to actually meet her!
-
I I I I I I I can't wait dskdhjsdsDLFHDJHDLFHDLFD AAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Haha. :D
-
According to her online shop (which is "on the road" as of today), signed lithos are for sale. Can anyone buy one for me? I desperately want it :-\

what are lithos and anyone who has seen them, how much?

Sounds really cool. I wonder how they'll look, and how much they'll cost. Hope those who can attend a venue are able to pick up a few extras for others around here.
-
I'm pretty sure it's a fancy name for the poster but not sure : )
I'm going to the Columbus show! So excited I could die : D
-
It looked like a laminated poster when I saw it last night. Same design as the poster on the website, I think.

Oh, so it might just be the poster she was selling during her summer tour. :/ Oh well.. thanks.

Yeah it was the same poster.

Yup, I see now. This link was posted next to "signed lithos" in her online shop.

yeah, I looked it up and it was either a stone art or a high-end print of an original art work, not just a "copy" of it, some other kind of process to make it high quality to the original art. I was hoping it would be something different than the star chart poster, but oh well!

Did we see this addition to the website or am I just late to the party?
-
I just remembered that V once said in one of her previous interviews that there will be choir in the upcoming shows, right?
I wonder what happened...
-
The stages on the venues she's performing at are REALLY small when you take into account the drum set and all the other equipment that's out there for Matt's set. My guess is it just wasn't feasible.
-
Video of ATM live in Pittsburg...was this the first time she played ATM on this tour? I coulda sworn it wasn't on the setlist?

Thanks for sharing the vid! Love the fact that Skye was there to cover the violin parts.. which are, as we know, essential in ATM!
-
So jealous of the east coast people! I'm reading all their tumblr posts and pictures and it's making me sad waaah!!!!!
-
Again, I may be late to the party here, but Matt's tour extends beyond the time that she is touring with him. I wonder if that means she will be doing her own tour, as someone said she asked her and Vanessa said she was. That may mean more East coast (I hope) West Coast and Europe. Maybe she'll take a break first? Just thinking out loud here..
-
She better not tour again before next year! Because I just used my last days off to book my annual Thanksgiving trip to NYC! :P
-

maybe she'll do some NYC shows while you're there!
-
Matt Nathanson fans are kind of assholes....I've been reading reviews and tweets from people who've seen the shows and they've all been buttheads to V...

Vanessa, are you reading this? *hint hint* ;D
-
Why aren't there as much videos as before? Just wonderin'....
-
Don't worry guys, I'll definately have more videos this time around on Monday!!!!
-
I think less people are going, that's one reason there aren't as many vidoes. I was the only one here who went to the Buffalo show, and I don't think anyone went to the terminal 5 show in nyc. I have videos but I had trouble getting them to youtube, so I posted them on facebook. Hopefully someone can help me get them from there to youtube or media fire. This is my busy work work week (yes my work week starts on Friday) so I won't have time to do any of that until next weekend.
-
I didn't like the idea of Vanessa as an opener at firt, but I saw some really nice comments about her on youtube by people who went just for Matt Nathanson.
about I Don't Want to Be a Bride:
"i just saw her opening for matt nathanson on friday and i LOVE this song most of all the ones she performed. i love her style of performing, it's similar to how I see myself performing one day. She's just real and seems like a person who would be a good friend. She doesn't seem intimidating or arrogant at all"
smefft
"I saw her last night open for Matt Nathanson in DC. She closed with this song. It was just her and some guy playing the violin. I had never seen her before but she blew me away with this song. Even better than this performance since it was all acoustic. Everyone was just mesmerized!"
FalconFan1314
She's reaching new people with her music, and that is GREAT!
-
She also made some new fans at the Buffalo show. I went on facebook a couple days after that tshow and saw one of the girls I met friended her and posted on her wall! so now me and that girl are friends too!
-
I went to the Columbus show. Anyone know what was up with rushing us all through the line to meet her? I know there was a long line, but still. I can't figure out if this was her management's doing, venue management, or Matt's. I'm thinking it was his though, because her booth was being run by the same people/in the same spot. After she put sharpie to song book, all I got out was a thank you. Very disappointing, because I had been waiting years to meet her! I guess next time I'll just write a letter to be on the safe side no matter who is managing things.

yeah, they rushed us in Buffalo too. Was the guy kind of douchey with a large curled mustache, dark rimmed glasses and tattoos? I thought this guy was from the venue but maybe he's part of Matt's team (I'm 95% sure he's not with Vanessa)
-
I was super forward and asked for a hug then told me that it was super nice to meet me : D She was amazing! Hear the bells was better than I could ever imagine. i think her mic was turned up a little too high so on some of the notes it hurt to listen a little bit but that didnt take away too much from her awesome performance : ) The setlist was the same as IUP and just Skye was there. Columbus loved her and was super respectful for the most part she seemed suprised by the applause after each song : ) Also the line to buy stuff and meet her was RIDICULOUSLY LONG. I seriously bet most people were there to see her hahaha

Nice to hear that the audience was more polite at this venue. And really, that was the first thing I asked her for when I bumped into her. "You're Vanessa Carlton?? Can I hug you?" I think maybe our emotions got to us a little :D

She kept mentioning that the room looks like a black vortex should be stemming out of it... only her : )
I just posted that on my friend's wall on FB! My favorite part of the show too. :)
Vanessa was amazing last night in Columbus. She got a nice sing along with White Houses and A Thousand Miles (as you see in the video).
It was great meeting you, Christian! Sorry you had to witness my total freak out after meeting VC. ;)

I have a question about the night shop.. Does she usually have posters, and how much are they? And what else does she usually have for sale? I'm trying to figure out what I'm buying and how much money I'll need when I go to her show :)

She currently sells the posters for $20 at the online shop, not sure how much they are at the shows themselves. I bought mines for $30 at one of her official tour venues. So expect $20-30?
Other merchandise includes: Chocolates inspired by IDWTBAB, the ROTR vinyl, songbook, CD, and... that's about it. And all of this info is listed in her official website's online shop. http://www.vanessacarlton.com/#

Why thank you! :) I looked at her shop online awhile ago, but I didn't know if she had different things at the concerts. Wow, 30$ for a poster seems rather expensive.. (but then again I'm a cheap person who doesn't spend a lot of money). I'm rather tempted on buying one of those posters though! Thank you for the information, I'll have to look at everything on her website again.. decisions, decisions :D

No problem! Not to be pushy, but I've tried encouraging all Nh's to buy it. Skye or Ari may have signed them as well.. maybe Skye since he is touring with her this time? I bought mines at her SF venue during her official U.S. tour, and Ari signed it as well! So, you might actually get more 'bang' for your 'buck', as they say. :)

technically it's not a poster, which is just a copy, whereas the lithograph is a high quality reproduction. Apparently there is a difference. so that's probably why the price is higher.

Basically. And it should come with that plastic cover, and her little black emblem sticker (which looks just as cool as the lithos)

Yeah, it's a bit of a habit calling them 'posters', since very few people actually know what a lithograph is (like most of us initially!). :) From what I can tell after holding mine, the quality seemed good. And it came in the plastic with the little black sticker. You are paying for the quality, yes. :)

Sounds like an incredible
poster lithograph!! I figured it was just like a regular poster, you know the ones that are rolled up into a tube and rip easily because they are so cheap. Thanks again for the information :) It's really cool that she could put something like that out there. All of Vanessa's merchandise seems so fantastic!

This is a little late, too, but.. can anyone ask V if she ever checks her video responses to her VEVO videos? I wonder if she's seen any of our vids for her ::)

i was soooo bummed when she said she was all out. Hopefully she'll do a night shop or some version of it for the show in utica, but I'm not sure she will since it's her own show and at a college..

I'd defiantly love to try her chocolate, but I assume there is some sort of dairy or other ingredients I cannot have :P Unless anyone knows otherwise, if there is no dairy/eggs? Hehe.

Is the shop taking credit/debit cards or just cash? Thanks!
-
the shop takes credit and cash! =)

That's so great. A lot of vendors only accept cash, and man.. when it's that night that you forgot to bring an extra $10 or $20, you become extremely grateful that they'd actually take your credit/debit card.
