Tommy! Wow, I LOVE that musical! I've never really seen or heard about it until my school put on the play. To this day, that is my favorite musical that my school has put on.
My ALL time favorite is Grease. I know every word, every line, every song, every character it's crazy. I've seen it oh I don't know how many times now.
My newest favorite musical is Chicago of course. I have the DVD (along with Grease) and my mom want's to take me to see it in LA maybe, so i'm looking for tickets for that.

yes, it's awesome. have you seen the movie version with Elton John? lol. I think we have it... I'm going to drag it out one of these days when I have time.
aww... I love Annie too Manda! my old school did that musical and it was awesome! my current school did "The Sound of Music" which I love as well! Lol, in my old chior class they used to always have me sing the part of the boy who sings really high in "So Long Farewell" because I was the only person who could hit that note. lol. I used to be a major soprano, but now i'm a tiny bit deeper. I love singing! Which is probably why I love musicals!
My all time favorite is Phantom. It's amazing! Ive seen it three times, lol. Ive also seen Cats, Lion King, Tommy, Grease, West Side Story, Chicago, Death of a Salesman, a 1950's version of Cinderella, and Sisterella (the funniest thing ever! I LOVED it!). I wouldnt recommend the 1950's or the death of a salesman though. All the rest are great.

I've played the violin in both of them so I guess it's a little biased but I do adore them, and they were so wonderful to be in! Not to mention that in west side story our guy who played Tony in the upper sixth was gorgeous!!! hehehe.

The tour rehearsals start in January. Toronto is the first show.
And Lion King was amazing - too bad Simba killed himself, he had a great voice.

Rent
lol
YES!!!!
I have seen MANY plays and Rent is the best IMHO... i've seen it many times and many different casts. I think it's amazing how Jonathan Larson took all the topics people evade or are afraid of hearing about and put it in front of you in a play. Homelessness, AIDS, Homosexuality etc

Tis Snoopy's Charlie Brown, you idiot!
-
honestly, I hate all musicals, but of them all, one stands out as the most hated musical I've ever had the misfortune to witness; it's the one named for my home-state, "Oklahoma."
I swear that every elementary school teacher lives with this uncanny thought that none of the students they will ever have will have ever seen this "entertaining peice" and so K-4 they show it to every class........every year..........and when I was in elementary school it was K-5!, that's 6 times I had to watch that thing...........I'd rather take a broken bone than have to sit through that one again! :)

um, that musical is based on the characters from one of the most famous cartoon strips in the US called "Peanuts." Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Sally (who i played), Linus, Lucy, and Schroeder. I have no idea who you are talking about, I presume a band named Charlie Brown or something like that. But I can tell you that the Charlie Borwn I am talking about is definately not from Brazil.

Of all the Peanuts, Snoopy was the man; he was a jet pilot, a bird communicator (Woodstock) and a disco stud, what else could you possibly expect out of a beagle? from what I saw in the cartoons he even cleaned up after himself!

Well... since I've seen a bunch of musicals live this summer (Beaty and the Beast, Jesus Christy Superstar, Sing'n in the Rain, West Side Story, Sound of Music, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera) I have to make an update
My Faves are:

Phantom is by far the best in my book.
-
Who directed the movie version? It was very Scorsese-esque, very richly detailed. I like that in a movie. But the musical was better.
-
Rent, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, and 1776 are all in heavy rotation on my iPod right now. Next shows I'm seeing are Jesus Christ Superstar, Mama Mia (the tour), Rent (the tour), and Spamalot (in London with Tim Curry!!).
Edit: I'll be seeing Wicked with my sister in London!!!! and the best part is Idina is reprising Elphaba!!!!
-
'Jesus Christ Superstar' and 'Chess' are the only ones that come to mind that I really like. I've never been much of a musical fan, though.

I just got back from London, where I saw Idina as Elphie in Wicked on Friday the 13th
I had very high expectations, but it was even BETTER than I expected
It was amazing, and she really blew me away
I had great seats as well, row H, in the middle, so I only had 7 rows in front of me
I could see everything perfectly!
I was sad when it was over
lol

I saw chicago on broadway and Loved it. Kinda risque, and for that reason very wierd to see it with my grandma. .... :?

I just saw the lion king this year for the first time, it was sooo great. I can't wait until it comes back to my area. I'm sure broadway would be better though. Next time I want to sit up high to see the animals better!

Sara, where did you see it? I just saw it in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, and I was completely blown away. African culture was well incorporated in the entire show, if anything. I really love the rearrangement of the music, and the props were gorgeous. I wish I could have seen it on Broadway, too. The stage would be much bigger. More space = greater show.
