Creative Endeavors / Creative Drunkeness thread!
« on: May 13, 2003, 06:39:26 pm »
This thread calls for a VC drinking game.  I challenge you, David Hart, to come up with something - that is if something doesn't already exist - and then I hope we can test out the game when Vanessa comes to Central Park in August.

Completely Off-Topic / Jews for Jesus
« on: May 13, 2003, 06:26:48 pm »
Nope, never been stopped by them.  Although my Mother was in the city  last month and she was stopped twice by Jews, on two separate street corners, and asked if she was Jewish.  As my Mother is not Jewish, she didn’t get to see what was on the flyers these guys were handing out.  I guess she was giving off a Jewish vibe that day?  Could these be the same people?  Or do Jews for Jesus stop everybody, and not just other Jews?  (This occurred around 6th Ave)

Polls / Creepy PBS kiddie show
« on: May 13, 2003, 06:14:30 pm »
All this talk of guys in spandex body suits caused me to have an awkward flashback.  Do any of you older folk recall a guy having a show on public television where he’d come out in a body suit with pictures of his bones, muscles and internal organs painted all over the outside of his body suit?  What was that show called?  It’s creeping me out now that that guy (who had dark, curly hair, I believe) would come out in that scandalous outfit to teach little children about their anatomy.

Polls / what is/was your school mascot?
« on: May 13, 2003, 06:07:11 pm »
My school's mascot is - brace yourselves - the Violet!

Yes, we're the fighting violets.  Watch out you other Division III teams.  If you make fun of us we'll sic our aspiring actors, directors and business people on you!   8)

I think our mascot is meant to be the color, as opposed to the flower.  But I selected plant on the poll cause our mascot used to be a person dressed up like a flower.  Back in the day, we used to have a guy dress in a purple spandex body suit *grimace* with a big flower head and he'd dance around at basketball games.  Intimidating, no?  A few years ago our university president decided to change our mascot because the dancing flower wasn't working.  So, our unofficial mascot became the bobcat.  How did they come up with the bobcat?  It's named after our library's card catalogue system!!!  Pretty desperate, huh?  Our library is called Bobst Library.  When our card catalogue system was computerized, it was called the Bobst Catalogue system.  Bobcat, get it?  So now there's a guy in a bobcat suit.  All the gym vans have bobcats on it, there's bobcat merchandising, etc.

And that is the story of how the violets have a bobcat cheering at our games.  (Pssst, we're still the violets.)

THE END.

On the group pic up there, they're the blonde girl on the left and the guy with his arm around her  :)

Actually, I don't see it either.  Maybe it's a resemblance I'd have to see in person?

(You know what husband-wife look alike?  Noah Wyle and his wife.  They so look like brother and sister.)

Now you can make fun of Americans for hamburgers and hormones in our cattle.

hahahaha! Well good luck with the rematch. Hopefully the field conditions have improved to the point where the goalpost will be able to continue standing through the duration of the game, lol

Completely Off-Topic / What risks did you take this week?
« on: May 11, 2003, 04:39:24 pm »
This is a very creative thread.  Nice job, David Hart.  *claps*

My risk?  I risked damaging my self-esteem by flirting with a guy in D’Agostino's earlier this week.  (D’ags is a grocery store in NYC, for those of you left coasters.)  I ended up having a lovely conversation with Rob (cute, brown-haired law student) *sigh*  and I’m thinking of shopping at D'ags tomorrow.  Um, just in case he’s shopping again at the exact same time as last week.  Tee-hee.  The entire time I was conversing with him I was thinking “scaryscaryscaryscaryscary.”  The good thing is that I walked out of that grocery store with my head held high.  The whole thing ended up giving the ol’ self-esteem a much needed boost.  I think I grew a pair that day.

Okay, nikkee was kind enough to pass along the message that the mediocre team would like to schedule a rematch for some time this week.  I have no idea how it'll go.  But I'm willing to give that team another shot to see if their game has improved at all...

...that and I was thinking of shoving that team's face in the astroturf.  Hah!  :P

And the team also offered a game with multiple teams if I understood correctly.  I also heard the team say "free of charge"! Whatever the heck that meant!

You should have told the head coach of that mediocre team, "Sorry, but too many players on the field!"

Speaking of mediocre teams...you'll never guess who called and left me a voicemail.  That's right!  The team that had the goalpost problem.  Unfortunately, the universe is punishing me for having not yet finished a ten page paper that is due tomorrow.  What did the universe do? you ask.  This morning I discovered, much to my horror, that the sound on my cell phone isn't working!!!    So, until I have my phone repaired (which is what I intend to do first thing tomorrow morning) I won't know if that team called to schedule a rematch for tomorrow night or not!  Arrrrggggg.    :?

Completely Off-Topic / What are your favorite colors together?
« on: May 11, 2003, 12:59:42 pm »
I've always had a thing for red and purple being put together.  I remember first combining them in fifth grade.  I really liked the result.

(But my fav color is actually blue.)
