The Art of Peace Foundation is releasing the charity album Songs For Tibet via iTunes on August 5. "This album will focus people's attention on the importance of Tibet, the gifts of its culture, and the crisis the Tibetan people are facing today," explains Michael Wohl of the Washington, D.C.-based foundation. Sting, Alanis Morissette, John Mayer, Jackson Browne, Vanessa Carlton and Dave Matthews are among the artists featured on Songs For Tibet. Proceeds from the album will go to support peace initiatives and Tibetan cultural preservation projects important to the Dalai Lama. The CD will be available in record stores beginning August 12.

Ya it sounds live. I like it, its more simplistic which kind of relates to tibettan buddhism.

Yep.  Sounds like the live version she does with the cute guitar dude, which is awesome.  I'm assuming it's going to be available at any CD/record store, so I better be able to frickin' find it!!!

So this file is available on itunes. If anyone gets it please DO NOT upload it on here. This is really going to help benefit something -- even if you don't have your own account, are too young, dont have a credit card; whatever the case, you really should purchase it legally....

And by the way it is nice mark beaushamin (spelling) is featured in the recording as well playing the guitar, but her voice really cracks a few times in this, and is clearly out of range for her singing, but still is very beautiful.

just fork up $ 0.99 (99 cents)

I think that's what I love about her most. She may not have the best voice but there's something magical about the whole package that makes me just love her so!!

Yes, it's on iTunes for .99 - a steal!!

I doubt its live I think its supposed to sound live or more simple.

I think its less edited, it kind of captures the whole buddhistic vibe with the simplicity factor of just her voice, the piano, and the guitar, almost all of tibet is buddhist so it fits.

Its limw wire thats crap and it slowly destroys your computer whether you know it or not itunes has good quality but I know an even better glitch to get good quality music free. But Im NOT for this song.

I don't mind iTunes. I just don't like that if you lose the music file, you have to buy it again. Thats why I backup like crazy! learned that the VERY hard way. But I mostly keep Vanessa, Nine Inch Nails, and Fiona Apple CD's. Everything else I get on the computer.

Because this program is a piece of cr*p: it's slow and invasive, I hate it.

Well, it depends on whether you have a slow computer of your own. There's a reason why iTunes is so popular. People like it.

You STILL use winamp?

Is iTunes different country to country - In the USA it works really well. I use a mac - that may have something to do with it. I have never had an issue with iTunes since it came out.

So I guess its no surprise but China has banned sales of the album off of iTunes...(Not quiet... but something like that...read->http://news.digitaltrends.com/news-article/17644/china-blocking-itunes-over-tibet-album)

Which I hope due to reverse psychology will get everyone wanting it...hearing it ... and then get Vanessa a million fans in China.(Tho yeah I know she isn't the only artist on the album)

But w00t! great publicity for the album...
