Completely Off-Topic / Your plans for Thanksgiving!

I'm sitting here at work... like I have been since 3am.  So far I've watch a couple videos, played some games, the usual.  Around noon I'm heading out to a relatives for dinner.  The racing home, sleeping, and going to work at 3am.

Yikes.  On night support for something?

illo and I work support at http://www.he.net/ (where this server is hosted) as part of the grave shift.  Sanity is not one of our strong points.

HS/Fan update all completed, no problems.  Used a bit of the time I gave myself to let it cool down... darn thing was toasty.  As it is, after it's been in there a bit, I'm seeing about 30F cooler temps from the CPU monitor.  I'm happy.

Thursday 10/14/2004 at 3:30am PDT (-0700), I will be taking the server down for maybe 20-30 minutes to replace the heatsink and fan.  The one in there isn't really all that well suited to being in a 2U case, and has caused some problems as of late, so it's time to swap it out with something more suited to the role, and a bit shorter.

Ok, time resynced.  Not sure why it diverged, but it'll be dead on from now on, as it'll resync to the GPS clock every day.

OS update to current FreeBSD 4.10 code, motherboard BIOS update and added another 512MB of RAM to the server.

The server the forums are hosted on will be unavailable from 12am PDT, September 14th, 2004 for approximately 30-60 minutes.  This is due to a series of software and hardware upgrades I am performing on it.

Should be fixed now.  Module author assumed something they shouldn't, so it didn't work in all cases.

Very odd.  Usualy means there's some underlying error on the board, but I'm not showing any code changes (but the ones I made just now to update it to 2.0.10) in that timeframe.  If you see this sort of thing again, please fire me off an AIM, also if it persists, try flushing your browser cache as it might be aggressive and keep displaying the error instead of retrying the page.

When you say it takes you that many times to login, what exactly do you mean?

- Bring up the main forum page
- Get to the login page
- Submit the login form
- Get any additional pages beyond that point.

I keep a pretty close eye on this server, and I've seen no systemic problems on it, so I need more details as to exactly the problem you're seeing.  If it's a problem loading up the page, see if you can get to http://www.keenspot.com/ (they're on the same provider).  Any information you can provide as to what you see will help figure out where the problem is located.
