General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / What makes Vanessa uncool?
« on: June 27, 2003, 06:48:43 am »
Musician Vanessa Carlton says her hip quotient is quelled by her "grandma-like" qualities, like coming home early to watch "bad TV."

"Just give me reruns of old 'Perfect Strangers' episodes," she says.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa's opinion on piracy
« on: June 27, 2003, 06:46:38 am »
Vanessa Carlton, singer/songwriter, "A Thousand Miles" and Platinum artist for "Be Not Nobody": "I think it's great that there are even more avenues today to expose music and new artists.  And I'm all for getting a taste of something before you buy it, but when it becomes more than a taste and people begin hoarding the entire work, it becomes piracy which results in a system in which artists are not being rewarded for their works.  Works which they put everything they have into creating and then working their asses off to support and promote."

Completely Off-Topic / I need everyone's help...in a big way

So as most of you know, I'm a HUGE Michelle Branch fan.  Well, I entered this contest where I made this video and whoever's video gets the most clicks gets to meet Michelle backstage at one of her concerts! The problem is you can only click once a day from a computer.

If you'd all be so kind as to click mine everyday I'd be so super stoked.  I've been a Michelle fan for two years now, and I still haven't gotten to meet her. :(  So hopefully I can this way.  It doesn't have any pop up ads or anything...it's just the video which is super short but has fun piccies in it.

I'm not sure if you have to watch the whole thing, you might want to just once, but as long as it starts to load, I think that's all good.

Thanks so much for everyone who does!

I promise I won't be obnoxious and bump this every 5 minutes...I'll only do so maybe once a week, but if you'd do this, I'd be such a happy Jolly Brancher.

I saw him in concert yesterday and I was totally blown away.  He has such an awesome presence and his music is killer.  Kind of like classic rock infused with Cuban folk.  So rad.

Plus he smiled for my camera :D

Does anyone else do yoga, how long have you done it, and do you love it? ;)

I just got an advance copy of her newest self-titled CD.  It is killer.  Not quite for kiddies, but the older (those who can listen to "explict lyrics") crowd will fo sho enjoy it.  Some of the production was done by the Matrix, but they didn't do the lyrics, so YAY!  The CD hits stores 6/24.  I recommend that you check it out. ;)

Oh man...I just bought their CD.  These guys are totally rockin.  Seriously.  They're opening for Lifehouse through June.  And the lead singer is Sting's son.  Not to mention that they are yummy and talent.  Mmm...hot musical boys...*dies*  You probably saw them if you went to the Ithaca show if I'm not mistaken.

I don't know, but I've always dug Sheryl Crow.  Her singles have all been so awesome and her live album from Central Park is killer.  She remixed the radio version of "Landslide" for the Dixie Chicks and she sings on a new MB track.  Anyone else a fan?
