Hi, my name is Stephen Jenkins and I am making a movie about Vanessa Carlton, and her new album.
I?m looking for a few (20 to be exact) Vanessa fans to not only be in the film, but also to attend a private showcase where you get to interview Vanessa and account for your experience with her music.
Here is the event:
Date: Saturday December 6th.
Location: Manhattan
Vanessa will play new songs, talk about them and talk to you, and it?s all going in the movie. Also you will get a chance to talk about what you think about her.
We only have room for 20 guests so we are seeking the hardcore, die ?hard, dedicated and devoted Vanessa fans.
Here is what you need to do to get an invitation to this very special performance:
1. Be a fan: tell us how many shows you have been to, if you run a fan site, tattoos help, journeys made and mostly how Vanessa?s music helps you.
2. Tell us the question you want to ask. Tell us knowledge that we don?t know.
3. Be able to get to New York City the afternoon of December 6th

I can't go due to the funds. I just got back from NYC for Halloween and that trip cost me about $1500.00 or more. I can think of plenty of peeps who deserve to go. A lot deserve it more than me as far as how many shows I've seen and how many other peeps have seen. I would still love to go. If only we could talk them into paying for the travel and lodge costs since they are gonna sell the movie or whatever. Hell, I could go if money wasn't the problem. I'm broke and with Christmas coming up, hmm... kinda screwed right now. If I lived somewhere closer to NYC would help.
The whole idea is soooo kick ass though. I know those that can go will have a rad time. :D

So, you're young...you work...you have school...you can't just drop everything and go...you may be the biggest fan out there and you deserve to go. Just because you've been to 20 shows doesn't mean you're better...every Vanessa fan is a good Vanessa fan and should get to go to the show. :D

I would say *no*...
The deal is, they're going to get *tons* of emails. So if you are unable to make it, it isn't worth wasting their time of having to go through the emails. Plus once they notify you that you've won, you go back and say "I can't go" then they have to what, choose someone else?
I just don't think that is a great idea... it should be left for people who can confirm that they can make it to NYC on the 6th.

Hello, my name is Andrew Kulp
I'm from Allentown, PA
I've been a NESSAholic (fan of Vanessa Carlton) since April of 2002.
when I heard 'A Thousand Miles' on the radio, I couldn't get enough.
At this time, I was dying for something new I could listen to that i liked.
I liked Vanessa's music since the very first time I heard it.
A little while after i heared A Thousand Miles on the radio, I went to vanessacarlton.com and registered for the message board.
I got the 'Be Not Nobody' album the day it came to stores, and automatically became somewhat obsessed with it, it would be the only CD I would listen to for a long time. In May of 2002, I attended a Vanessa show in my city. It was a great experence. I wish I could re-live that day over and over again, it was so wonderful.
Sadly, I haven't been to a Vanesssa show after that one, but I wish I could've been.
Sometime around Christmas of 2002, I recieved my Vanessa Carlton T-Shirt with 'be not nobody' written on the front. This was instantally my favorite shirt! I still wear it all the time. Now today, I am even more of a Vanessa fan than i was before, getting ready for her next CD is very exciting! I now currentally have over 21000 posts on the Vanessa Carlton message board, if that counts for anything.. hahaha.
Being a part of many Vanessa Carlton message boards, including the famous "Nessaholics.com" message board, and being a moderator at the message board at 'vanessacarlton.info' I am very dedicated to Vanessa and her music. The NESSAholics on these message boards are some of the best people on the internet.
I even have my own Vanessa Carlton message board, even though it isnt much sucessful, it has over 70 members.
Vanessa has really helped me. Everytime im sad or dont feel good, her music always cheers me up and makes me feel better. At school, im mostly known for being the best Vanessa Carlton fan. I can say easily that i think im the biggest Vanessa fan in Pennsylvania.

wow... I went to talk to my mom and told her that attending this thing would me all I want for my birthday. I expected her to say "no way!!! are you kidding?!?!" but she said YES!! its on a saturday. so i could fly to NYC on friday afternoon after school, then fly back sunday and be home in time for school the next day! so as long as I dont miss school, its ok with her... She knows how much this would mean to me, so i guess she's willing to help me!
I sent in my letter... omg! i hope i can go!!
does anyone know when they will let us know who is chosen? because if i am going to fly to NYC i need to make plans very soon! but I dont want to make plans and get rejected from going...

There should be some flights from LA -> LGA through Jet Blue i think that might be a fairly cheap fair even close to the date.

i am so nervous about this whole thing - i really want to go - it's like a once in a life kinda deal-io - i mean there is no chance i would be able to ever do something like this for queen or elton john - this is like my fave musician and sure i have seen her live and met her but this is such a rare priceless opportunity.

1. Be a fan: I am not only a fan but a dedicated nessaholic since January 2002. Since the first time I heard Vanessa's music I was addicted. As soon as I could find a copy of the' A Thousand Miles' single I already couldn't get enough, the live version of 'Twilight' on the single increased my anticipation for Be Not Nobody to be realeased. I promoted her music to all my friends, buying the cd for many of them, and played her cd in my classes at school when I got the chance. Everyone at my school knows me as the Vanessa Carlton fan, and are never surprised when they see me in the music room playing 'Wanted' (my favorite song!) on the piano. I had my friend include her in her journalism article for the school newspaper and interviewed me on how Vanessa has had such an impact on my life. I have been to every concert in LA, and went through a lot of trouble to get tickets to a radio concert where Vanessa would be performing 3 songs. At the House of Blues concert I begged and pleaded to the security guard to give me a meet and greet pass, after it was succesful I went to the meet and greet room with my pass only to find that the security guards there did not want to let me in to meet vanessa. I was devistated that I would not be able to meet her and be able to tell her what an inspiration she has been to me, and cried to the security guards who still did not let me in. I would like to tell her how much her music has influenced my life. I have played the piano for a few years and was determined to learn one of her songs. My teacher refused to teach me saying it would be too hard and that I was over estimating myself. I did not care what she said however because I knew that one day I could be a pianist like vanessa if I wanted to be. With her as my inspiration, I bought the sheet music and taught my self every single one of her songs. This was not an easy task as I was always told that I could not play at that level. A Thousand Miles was the hardest for me to learn and took the most time, but the day that I finally got it I sat at my piano and nearly cried with joy I was so excited by my accomplishment. After I could play what I wanted to I realized that I not only wanted to play as well as vanessa but I wanted to be able to write as well as her also. Again I was told that I couldnt do it, that I wasnt ready. But with Vanessa as my role model I have written 11 songs and 5 compositions, all of which I have impressed the people around me with what they never knew I could do. Vanessa helped me realize my passion and be proud of my musicianship. She is the reason why I still play the piano today, and continues to be my inspiration for my music and life.
2. Tell us the question you want to ask. If I could ask Vanessa a question I would ask her what it means to her to have such a large impact on people everywhere, she has fans worldwide dedicated to her and people like me that have found not only a wonderful musician but an inspiration in their life.
If I am chosen, the trip to new york will be not only my christmas present from my family, but my dream come true.

this is what i am submitting:
1) Be A Fan: In Late December 2001 my sister told me about a fresh new up and coming artist. "She plays the piano, and she used to be a ballerina!" she said. Being a dancer since age three I decided to check out Vanessa Carlton, and downloaded A Thousand Miles and listened to it as soon as I could. I fell in love with the song instantly, and I made all my floor mates at college listen to it as well. It wasn't before long when I had registered with the Street team and the VCMB. I loved spreading the word about Vanessa and her music, no matter how many times I heard "oh yeah, the piano girl" or "wait, that's Michelle Branch!" Soon enough I had bought the album and had other songs like Swindler and Red Ditty. At the same time, I was going through a period in my life where I was surrounded by fake relationships and friendships. At the time I was distancing myself from those relationships, I relied heavily on the songs from Be not Nobody because they are so true and genuine (lyrically and musically). Songs like Wanted and Twilight were so empowering to me because the message i got from them was that through the bad times, there is always the hope that things will turn out ok. I can honestly say that I will never see the sky the same way because I have seen twilight. I think that one of the main reasons that Vanessa has so many fans is that her talent and honesty show through in her song writing, and it definately affected and inspired me in so many ways.
I don't have any Vanessa inspired tatoos, I don't run a fan site, and I have only seen her in concert once. But I don't think that having bragging rights to all that makes a true fan. Supporting Vanessa, her music, and her fans is what makes someone a true fan. I feel that I have done all that and more. I would love to take this oppertunity to thank Vanessa for all the inspirations and truths she has given her fans through her music.
2) my questions: #1- Vanessa, your music is something very special that my sister and I share. How close are you with your family, and how does being on the road and the schedule that comes with being a celebrity affect it? #2- at the Oneonta show a fan asked when you are going to play Superhero again. You laughed and said "Well Britney Spears can have Superhero" we have taken that as you saying that you are past the time in your life when you wrote that song. Are there other songs like Superhero (i.e. All I Ask, Carnival, etc) that you don't plan on performing or releasing because you are past that time and those songs don't hold a meaning anymore?

egh, mines reeeeeeeeaaaaaally bad:
I was watching TRL as usual, when i saw a small clip of a girl playing a piano. It was only shown for 30 seconds, but as soon as i heard the piano riff, i knew that it was going to be one of my favorite songs, and this girl playing the piano would be one of my favorite singers. Carson Daly announced that it was Vanessa Carlton, a new, up and coming artist. I immediatley went to her website, and counted down the days until her cd would come out. As soon as i heard her cd, I said to myself, "This girl get's it." Her cd was happy, and it was dark. It was hopeful, and it was ominous. She didn't sing like her life was one big happy pop song.....She was real.
Ever since then, Vanessa Carlton has not only been my favorite singer, but also an inspiration in my life. I live in a small country town, where being different is not nurtured. I've never really felt like anyone understood me, because I've been so different from everyone I know. Even my own friends at times make me feel like I am alienated and unimportant. On April 26th, I attended one of Vanessa's shows with my sister and a small group of friends. It was by far the best night of my life. For once, I felt like I was accepted. No one cared what I said or whether it was weird or not, or what I wore, what I did....I was surrounded by people who had the same love I did: Vanessa and her music. It was one of the only times where I actually felt accepted, and not like a complete weirdo. After the concert, Vanessa agreed to meet fans. I thought it would be a quick "Hi!", snap of a picture, and then leave. But Vanessa took the time to talk to each and every fan, and take as many pictures and autographs as needed. She even took the time to encourage my sister to keep dancing, one of the biggest passions of her life. Meeting Vanessa was surreal, and one of the most important times in my life. Vanessa's kindness, compassion, and music have impacted my life in a big way. Through her I have found acceptance, and selfe assurance. All I have to do is remember the night I saw her in concert, and I know that life isn't as bad as it may seem.

You have inspired so many people in so many ways, including their musical style. As you began to first write your music, who was your musical inspiration? Do you have the same musical inspirations as you did from the beginning, and if no, who are they now?

Ahem. No love for the English, the Dutch, the French, the German, the Spanish (we didn't even get her in concert for God's sake! :evil: ), the Italian, the Portuguese, the Vatican (lol, maybe the Pope likes ATM?), the Greek, the Danes, the Irish, the Swedes... do I need to continue? This is not fair. God knows I'd spend all my money if necessary to fly to NYC for a couple of days and back, but I know my parents would never let me go, esp with such short notice :cry:

C'mon guys, i think we need to be thankful (no pun intended) that they're even doing something like this. I think it is a huge leap towards positive promotion of Vanessa which in the end, is what we really want.. right? I know it sucks that everyone can't go, and it is really last minute, but let's just hope that the positive feedback from this adventure will provoke them to do more things like this in the future with perhaps more notice and such so people could fly in, etc. I think we just have to all accept that Vanessa lives in NYC and there is probably quite a bit on the documentary from NYC so it makes sense (same camera crew and everything) to do it all there.

What are they going to use as a ruberic? I'm just curious because being on a selection committee is so difficult, I hate having to make decisions like that when there are so many deserving applicants. I really do hope they post who won.

Yeah, by ruberic i basically mean the criteria the management is looking for. that's all. we have this elaboate point system for RA selection and National Residence Hall Honorary, it's a pain in the ass. But I doubt they'll wast time with that. I guess to me a perfect system would be her management pick about 30 or 40 and give them to Vanessa to narrow down to the final 20. What she is looking for in a fan may be different from her management's ideas of a fan. Thanks for clearing things up though!

yeah, they really shouldn't have sent out such late notice for the competition. if they're going to do it Dec. 6, they should have posted the information on it a looooong time ago so people could make plans who won and stuff. i think Vanessa's management waited too long to release the competition info. it's not really fair to some contestants.

I called again but have no new information as of yet. I spoke with Jaclyn (everyone saw her name in the email) she was very nice and will try to find out more information and get back to me with an update. I mentioned that we have people wanting to fly in or travel in from CA, FL, GA, and OH (those are the random states i could think of!) so for flight plans the sooner the winners are announced the better.
She did mention that the individual with a lot of the specifics was off today and tomorrow. Sorry guys, hang in there! You know how hectic things can get, i'm guessing they already had the location booked for the 6th and realized at the last minute that they hadn't even sent out the email yet. I have a feeling we'll see some great things from this new team of individuals and they'll become more organized as time progresses =)

they used an AOL screen name, and if you have AOL you can check the status of the mail you send to other aol screen names. Like when they open, forward, delete or reply to it...

The "deadline" was today (the 1st). I'm guessing the individual that will be making the decision about who goes is the individual off today and tomorrow. It probably isn't the image we want to send if they get on AIM, and all of us IM them. I'm pretty sure a majority of what they do is 8-5 M-F and seeing as they're in California i'm guessing we just need to wait till tomorrow. I'm still hoping i'll get a call back but don't expect one until tomorrow at the soonest.

I agree, that's why I kinda wish Vanessa had a lot more say in who gets picked. I know her management has changed and gotten better so maybe it's going to be different than Duets. I think she just has a better idea of who her fans are, and a better grasp on what a true fan is.

aww... thats lucky! my teachers would never let me do that... we rarely get to do anything other than learn and study in the class... so letting me check email would never happen, lol. but i check at break and lunch and stuff... my parents said they'd call me if they hear anything.. but my cell is dead, lol, so i have it off, but i can turn it on to check every once in a while.

They *hope* to let the winners know tomorrow and can't emphasize enough that they understand where everyone is coming from and how doing this last minute was not the optimal solution. I informed them that we have many people posting here, checking their email often, and really looking forward to getting the results. They do not believe they will be able to respond to every email and will only have the time to notify the actual winners so if anyone finds out, we need to post here so the others know definitively.

I'd have to find my way to and from the hotel and the event... and back to the air port and get myself home. I dont know if i could do that!! if i did... i would not leave my hotel unless necessary, lol.

I have a little advice for all who are waiting or any of you who are chosen. I know exactly what you are going through. Trust me.
Here is my advice…most importantly don’t have any expectations. Whatever happens, enjoy it, even if nothing happens. Just remember it is their gig and they may not be thinking about this thing the same way that you are. Be realistic. Though this may seem like the best thing to ever happen to you, particularly if you get picked, beware and stay grounded…you are only human and you may think that Stephan and Vanessa are personally thinking about you, be careful, this may be fun to think about, but it is more likely a mind trap. It may be natural to personalize this in your mind in a way that you imagine all sorts of scenarios about meeting them, but try to keep it in perspective. I am not trying to be cruel and diminish the anticipation and enjoyment of the experience, but they have a lot on their minds and they have their lives to live and their own really close friends already.
This is a commercial venture. Though it is apparently a sincere offer, they are going to do what is in their best interest, at their convenience and in their own good time. It may not be perfect for you. You may come in contact with people who will not share your enthusiasm or reflect the level of excitement you feel is warranted. Remember, it is not personal, it is just their job. They spend every day with the Wizard of Oz behind the curtains. To them it may not be a big deal, just another gig, and you won’t be able to understand why they don’t act like you feel, like you are in the “Emerald City”. Be aware that you both can enjoy each other but you are truly in different worlds and perceive the experience in completely different ways. You are getting just a taste of it right now as you wait to be contacted. Remember, you are not in control and you have to go with the flow and have no expectations.
I only point this out, so that whatever experience you have, it will be great. The waiting, the apparent neglect, is simply how it is, no one planned it, even though you think someone should have done a better job. (it can always be better) Stuff happens, and if you chose it to be good, it will be good. If you keep your expectations low, then that is your best chance for having a great experience. If you expect too much from Vanessa there is a good chance things will not go the way you thought they should. The last thing you want to do is put Vanessa up on a pedestal so high where there is no way she can stay way up there. She will most likely fall. You could risk losing the enjoyment of her music, so chill and appreciate every little thing that you receive as a gift. For many of us who will not be chosen, we have already received our gift. In the same way that you get to imagine what it might be like to be a millionaire after buying a lottery ticket before they pick the winning numbers and realizing you didn’t win…you have been able to submit your essays and been able to imagine what it would be like to be chosen. You have had an experience with Vanessa. This is a good thing.
Finally, don’t take anything personally. If you don’t get picked it doesn’t mean you didn’t write a great essay or that you are not a great Vanessa Carlton Fan, or they don’t like you. You know your appreciation for Vanessa and her music cannot be adequately described in written words. Vanessa and Stephan are busy people with a lot on their plates. We may view them as perfect, so we expect perfections from them, but they and their representatives don’t always do what is perfect. If they seem to neglect us sometimes, we have to forgive them.
Have a great time waiting, (I am serious) you have been given a great gift….the anticipation and the anxiety are all the stuff of songs and will instill in you a lot of creative thought and power. Write lyrics…write a song. Use it and make yourself strong…let it give you purpose and motivation. Try to remember this experience and make it a part of you for the rest of your life, for the good in your life.

:roll: Ok, first off let me start by praising the concept of this contest, I think it's a wonderful Idea to have a private show and taping where some of Vanessa's most loyal fans get to meet and interact with her, and also that she's personally taking the time to read through the entries herself. I praise her for this... Unfortunatley the way this "Contest" is being run is a total disgrace to her fans. First off, let's start with everyones headache the small time table. We didin't know about this contest untill the 25th of November, and the Concert is being held on the 6th of December.. which is exactly a 11 DAY time frame, which virtually eleminates anyone with a work schedule that isn't super flexable, because I know I need to give at least 2 weeks notice to get a few days off unless I beg and grovel to my boss and do extra favors, ok, part two this time of year is the worst time for her main age range of fans.. which are mostly in thier college and High school years. It's College Exam time.. essays are due, finals are being taken and money is already stretched tight after Thanksgiving travel, and with X-mas coming up in a few weeks.
Now that bascially leaves this contest open to
A.) anyone in the area of New York City that dosen't have a job and can travel
B.) anyone with enough money to afford a plane ticket on ONE DAYS NOTICE
.. So I ask .. actually I plead.. CANCEL AND RESCHEDULE THIS CONTEST
SO EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE TO ATTEND!!!!!

anyone that doesn't work retail or gov't jobs - normally has saturdays off - i am flying up for the day and back on air tran (x-fares $60 each way) - it's a saturday - normally i wouldn not be able to do this because of fiances but this is an opp that i would die inside if i didn't try and if i missed being a part of it -
I think the point is this is for hard core fans the ones that will take the time and trouble to go - however far whenever the time -

I am so happy and proud of EVERYONE who entered! It takes a lot to write what Vanessa means to you, and that's some really deep and emotional stuff right there. Those of us who did not get an invite, please keep in mind that although we are not going to meet Vanessa and the fabulous NESSAholics, Vanessa did take the time to read every submission. She knows what we wrote to her and how much she means to us. Plus, we still have a claim to fame, we can make our friends watch the DVD and go "Hey, I know them!!!!!" Kulp, they're *not* going to post pone it... after so many people have booked flights and people are still going to get there through the weather... especially since even if they have to cancel some flights they always get planes into the area ( they have plane de-icers and such ) there is really no need to beg for that.

I'm guessing that if they haven't gotten a response by tomorrow of confirmation, they'll fill in the rest of the slots tomorrow afternoon and they might have a more focused "NYC" list.

you see, there is a big snow storm thing comming, and im not sure if i'll be able to go because of it.
I convinced my sister (who lives in Delaware) to drive home tomorrow, and take me to new york if the weather isn't too bad, because my mother cannot come with me, and she wants to make sure that I dont go by myself.
so there is a big chance that I will be going.

The fun thing about this is that you guys are going to be able to hear some of the songs on the new album and give us your own impression of them, if it is not top secret and VC asks you not to reveal anything about them. I'm excited about that. I wonder if Stephan was able to get that house in SF with the stage in one of the rooms, as I saw on the ?home and garden channel? I never said anything about it until now. I am flying into LGA too. I get there around 8:45ish tomorrow. I have gotten into the city via cab which was about 15 bucks and by bus to Grand Central or Penn Station (I forget which it was for about 20 roundtrip). I haven't decided what I am going to do yet. I gotta find the site where I got the bus pass before.
I have no idea what to wear and I hate cold so yeah!! I would say nice casual. But private showcase sounds fancy. haha.

My only concern is this f-ing weather. Muy mal.

for those still wondering where to stay, I stayed at the New Yorker, actually it's the Ramada New Yorker now. It's old but it's near everything in Manhattan. The rooms weren't very expensive. It had 2 places to eat inside. We were in walking distance of Times Square and only 2 blocks from the Empire state building. FYI...

*chuckles* ooooh, you non new yorkers (and greater northeastern-ers for that matter) have no idea! lol, last year we had a blizzard on Christmas, the roads were covered with over two feet of snow, and there were still people driving!
but don't worry, i'm sure it will work out awesome for you all! besides, NYC practically never gets a massive amount of snow, at the most maybe a few inches - the worst part will be the wind. scarves and hats are a must!

hey guys - i am dying i just found out that there is pretty much a .002% chance i will be able to come - i called the airline this morning and they said that everything was fine and i should be able to get on that flight no problem - i just called back after checking airtran.com and the flights until 2pm are full and overbooked due to the weather and cancelled flights from tonight ----
the only time as of now that i could get into new york is 4pm - and thats too late - could take a train but it's over $400 and i would have to leave in about an hour... and i am still at work -
i am in tears - i really wanted to go ----
unless i can come up with any other reasonable options i will go to the airport tomorrow and try - but there is like no chance that agent said that i talked to --------------------------- damn it!!!!

i got a flight YAY - i am flying in to La Guardia at 10am - flights at 6am
stop over in dc (which has delays right now so cross your fingers for tomorrow) flying back sunday morning at 6am - so will be in nyc for dinner
i dont think i need a place to stay saturday night seeing as i have such an early flight but however i will need booze to stay warm and maybe some warm blankets!!!

even though im a little sick right now, i'll try to make the best of this, and i hope the snow/cold weather doesnt make me more sick.
oh yeah, and my mom mentioned like having ID, which i dont, so i printed out the email they sent me, and if they ask me who i am, hopefully the letter will do fine. :)

What hurts me the most isn't the fact that I was not sent an inventation. I am not jealous of anyone who did. What makes me so upset is the fact that the people who are so close to being there can't because of this stupid snow storm, like my sister, and Gina, and probably others. I think I'm more upset than my sister. I wanted her to go more than I wanted to go myself. This was her dream, and cool stuff like this doesn't happen to her very often. It's just like a really cruel joke that she was so close to going and now she can't. I can't believe this is happening. I feel for everyone else as well. I am praying that everyone has a safe travel and that everything goes as smoothly as possible tomorrow.
p.s.-hey Kulp, Allentown is on the weather channel and i thought of you, lol. actually my (and jess's) family is originally from Allentown. Our grandparents are buried in Bethlehem. if you see any street or bridge named Lynn, Bailey, or Seiford, it's our family! pretty funny huh!

it was a hetic fight... well aftr we landed. we lndd about 8:40pm and i dont think wegot off of that friken plane till lke 11pm1!! so we were on that flightf 7 hours and they didnt feed us nything bu peanuts, lol, i was soooooo hungry!
It is snowing and very cold here!! but not too windy or stormy from when i was outside. i hve a warm jacket... i'm ok! :)

yeah tell me about it. My flight was at 6:30, it got delayed until 8. The captain decided to have everyone board so that way when we got word we could just go. So we loaded up and we pulled out to the jet way to wait at the end of the runway. About 7:30 we got word that our flight was cancelled. There were people on the plane who were cancelled last night. He said that Delta pushed back the times because they only had limited space in the terminal parking or what not. Then he said that there was only one runway at LGA and that last night the plowers pushed the snow into our ramp. I was on a baby plane where you have to walk down. So we drove back to the terminal. I attempted to find another flight but with so many cancellations and re-ticketing people there was nothing that would get me into NYC until after 4 and later.
I even went to other airlines and the 9am on Continnental was even cancelled.
So yeah, very sad but what can you do?

I wasn't able to stay or be interviewed :(, but I did see divasteph, katia, adorovc, Holly(yay!) and Gina(also yay), Jojoterror, and Kulpdogg. Stephan is doing as awesome job of interviewing and keeping it light(I saw
Gina's testimonial).
It didn't feel 100% real, as there are SO many people that should be there. I have faith that this will not be the last thing like this that she does.

But the roads, especially in Jersey, are simply horrible and somehow I don't feel as if Nessa would ever expect her fans to put themselves in such jeopardy. Me, I just can't get back over there even though it is so close....it would mean massive trouble for my job. Vanessa once had a day job, so I hope she understands that too.

Well, what can you do? I mean we didn't fly out last night mainly cause of the short notice. My days off started today, which really doesn't matter but mostly the price went another $400 if I went last night. That flight was cancelled last night as well. Plus a hotel cost. I thought a 6am flight would give me a good window of time but who knew there would be a blizzard.
That would be hella cool if they did another, especially in SF. It will home again in two weeks anyway.
But yeah, very sad :cry:

I'm sure they have their reasons for doing it in NY. Who knows, maybe they have some super deal on time at Sony. It's interesting..I expected a larger room, but it was actually very small with seats set up in a way that reminded me of the old "Loveline" show.

I wasn't able to stay or be interviewed :(, but I did see divasteph, katia, adorovc, Holly(yay!) and Gina(also yay), Jojoterror, and Kulpdogg. Stephan is doing as awesome job of interviewing and keeping it light(I saw
Gina's testimonial).
It didn't feel 100% real, as there are SO many people that should be there. I have faith that this will not be the last thing like this that she does.
Everyone be hopeful. Including me.

For the record...I didn't meet Vanessa , but for me, I liked meeting a few Holics I never met before...seeing Holly there(glowing!!!) just warmed my heart.

Holly called and Steph said that along with the other people Dan mentioned; toni, blue glove, andrew. jo, alexandra, and the Brazil person were there.
Apparently on stage there were 10 tall director chairs around the piano and she would sing and answer questions. They said it was short, only a few songs. For the most part only one song was new to most of us. Oh and there were couches in the audience with lamps and such.
I hear she wore the clown shirt.

well, I am not going to do it justice and I want the others to tell you the details from their perspective s well but...I got there about 2:30 and only Steph and Toni were there. Then Clarisse FROM BRAZIL showed up and Gina. Then a camera man came out and told us he was going to film us and just asked our names and where we were from and explained that he flew in from Detroit yesterday to do the filming and had followed Vanessa around the day before. Then we were the first group that were taken into the studio, but we had to use the ladies room first. Stephen Jenkins greated us,in a grey running suit, and he was very sweet and professional and, dare I say, charming and told us we were going to get a chance to talk about why we were there and what Vanessa's music meant to us, individually, one at a time, into the camera. The studio was very cute and comfortable with black leather couches around and a stage with a piano and directors chairs around on the stage.

When I talked to her she was at coffee with Holly and her mom, Steph, David Hart, and the girl from Brazil who's name I keep forgetting.
