AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING. Lover her. and yeah, she did mess up, but she's V, it didn't matter! I don't know where to start sooo... No update on when the album will be released. There were about 25 people who got to eat dinner with her, and do a meet and greet all from the school there. I talked with a few of the girls and they did not get any info from her (or try, they probably didn't even know there was a fourth album!) One girl said V seemed really shy and tired. I stayed about an hour after the show but didn't see her leave, I think she snuck out somewhere since she already did the pre show meet and greet. She debuted a new song called Get Good (I will have video soon, I may not get it uploaded tonight, I have to get up really early tomorrow) and who ever said they thought I don't want to be a Bride would have the childrens choir in it called it because Ari, the guitarist, did back up vocals on it for the show and it sounded great!!

It was your typical college crowd who wanted to see a free concert and who only knew ATM (and maybe WH), besides a few girls that I met up with waiting for the show (at 530). They are not Nessaholics but I made sure to hand out lots of flyers for the nessaholics website. They did not allow video recording so I had to put my camcorder back in the car (and thanks to the girlies who held my place in line!) I did get my Flip in and recorded some songs, but since I had limited battery and time, I did not record all of the songs (just an intro so I could remember the set list!) At about the second to last song, a very rude girl had made it to the front with some girls who were already there and booted me out of my spot, so I couldn't see V's beautiful face anymore :( I guess I'm just glad she showed up at the end! I hope to have the videos up soon, I will try my best friends!

p.s. sorry ahead oftime if you can hear me singing or yelling or whatever because I couldn't contain myself! Also, there is lots of talking on the videos :( Typical!

Get Good is actually not like anything she'd done before!! She didn't play piano the entire song, it was just Ari on the guitar, and it did have a different sound to it but I can't describe it! I couldn't tell if she said weather or weathered we will have to analyze! Speaking of which, I was wrong about my thoughts on Carousel, but I should have known! Hehe.

Great concert tonight. Drove up from Atlanta and definitely enjoyed the music. The venue was a bit lacking... my wife had sprained her foot and we had to sit to the back and side and couldn't see but the top of V's head. But the sound was great and well worth the trip.
The crowd was definitely one who wanted A Thousand Miles more than anything else, but this was the first time I'd heard many of the 4th album songs and fell in love with them instantly.
Vanessa messed up a few times, but I expected that. She did it last time I'd seen her at Old Smith's Bar a few years ago too. It makes her concerts unique and special. And truthfully if she hadn't stopped playing to fix her own errors nobody would probably have realized she'd played badly.
I can't wait for the new album to be released. It is going to be fantastic.

I find it funny, because honestly ATM is probably the song I like least of Vanessa's. Perhaps it was just too overplayed when it came out, but I really didn't become a fan until her next single, and find her 2nd and 3rd albums so much better than the first as well. But with a crowd like that, they would probably get upset if she left the stage without playing.
It was certainly an interesting audience though... I was kinda surprised that a steady stream of folks thought the show was all over when she left the stage the first time and didn't even think there might be an encore. If not for the fact that it finally gave me a decent view I might have said something to stop them. hehe.
I'm very happy someone got some video though. Security told me to put my camera up and wouldn't let me take it in. They wouldn't let someone in line near me go in with their smart phone either. But despite actual pat-down searches at the door (a first for any concert for me - they hiring TSA agents? *lol*) I still saw a number of phones and video's being made.
But as I said before, despite the venue and younger inexperienced crowd, it was a great show. Vanessa was obviously rusty (and said so) but still sounds as great live as she does in recording. She's one of the few artists who can make that claim in my experience.

Thanks for the reviews sarab and Danny R! I'm kind of disappointed that she didn't talk about a release date. But I wish she can do something like Radiohead recently. They announced their last album 5 days before its release, without any label, vinyls and digital sales only.

Still think ATM is an all time classic, and a song that has been very good to her thankfully, as it allows her to carry on making fantastic new songs. I hope she will always remain very very proud of the song.
But yes I really wish other people knew her for more than ATM.
Did she interact with the crowd during the gig like she always does?

everyone in the front row was using their phones for video! I just woke up from my "nap" I have to catch my flight in a few, but I wanted to hop back on and tell everyone I forgot to mention two very important things that happened to me! While we were waiting, Vanessa had come out of the room they were eating in an into the grandroom to practice. She was only a few feet away but I didn't notice her until it was too late! She's sneaky! But we got to hear her warm up! A little while later, Lord Victor made an appearance. Some people were walking him into the grandroom. I said "Victor!" and everyone ooed and awwed over him but even the girls who knew more than just ATM didn't know who he was! He's cuter in person too.
ATM is what turned me on to her only because I saw the video once and thought, hey I like that song and she plays the piano, let me look this girl up. and so the love affair began but I rarely listened to it as if in protest because I knew it was a popular song. I'm glad it's been good to her as well, because as she has said, it allows her to write songs about vampires (Nashville performance). As for the video, it's taking a long time to send out to Kulp and I had to go to sleep, so hopefully sometime today or tomorrow I can get it all sent to him so he can get it up for you guys...sorry just a little bit longer wait!

I can provide a 25Gb web storage if needed. My hoster (OVH) let me have an unlimited traffic on it (well..I paid for that :D). You just have to know how to use a FTP client (such as Filezilla), but it's not very hard.

You don't have to edit the videos, you can split a single file in multiple .rar files the size you want (example: 1GB file split in 10 parts of 100mb each).
But im gonna say it again, i think dropbox would be what you need to give (us) kulp de files :-)

she's so pretty, and she's so sure
i saw vanessa carlton live last night for the first time. the concert had been a long time coming, as i have been a fan since age twelve, but never had the opportunity to see her until recently. the concert was originally supposed to happen january 10, but got delayed due to weather until february 14.
as much as i love vanessa carlton, i wasn’t too-too excited for the concert. it just didn’t seem real; it seemed too good to be true. until i saw her. i then literally melted where i stood. happy valentine’s day to me.
she’s the most precious sight. she’s short, she’s got porcelain skin, and she’s nothing short of fashionable. she’s stunning, to put it blankly. and you, too, would know if it you saw her, just as soon as you saw her. her eyes are a deep, wise brown; her demeanor shy yet steady. when she talks, she’s nervous, and she said she was nervous to play even her own songs. but there is an undeniable steadiness about her even still. she’s very, very humble, thanking us always when we’d clap, and telling us that we are “lovely.” how could you not love her? she’s precious. and lovely. lovely and precious, through and through.
a lot of people were there to hear a thousand miles and white houses. i love white houses with everything that i am, and on a cloudy day, it’s more common than you think is one of my all-time favorite lines, so much so that i’d consider getting it tattooed on me. but she’s so much more than the totality of these two songs. and had those kids shut up for two seconds to truly listen to the chords, melodies, and life experiences echoing throughout that room, they would’ve known that.
i found myself in awe too many times to count. never in my life have i seen anything more graceful - more connected - than she to the keys of a piano. i found myself tearing up at the whole experience two distinguishable times when i felt her vocals pierce within and soar around me.
and for as shy and nervous as she is, she’s this eloquent beacon; she spoke of relationships that the government and our mothers do not approve of, and the small life moments that we should all “be open to,” like when we’re in a forest and we see a drop of water on a leaf glisten, and it leads us to the false belief of a diamond within reach.
she played a song that she had never played before, and it was a moment for me. i felt proud of her. so, so very proud. she had made a couple mistakes beforehand from being nervous, so that coupled with the fact that it was unfamiliar and vulnerable territory made her nervousness entirely understandable. “i’m just stalling. i’m nervous. this is a living room. right? it’s not a show. this is a living room. i mean, it is a show, but…. it’s a living room.” she overcame it. and when she did, she BECAME it.
i didn’t get to meet her. no pictures, no audio; it wasn’t allowed, and i wasn’t about to risk being kicked out since i was pretty near the front. there were no autographs. but still, it was one of the best nights of my life. i just stood there, feeling all of these things, and letting myself feel them. and as i was feeling them, i was sorting them all out too, aware of every moment and aware of everything it all meant to me.
it felt like coming home. that might sound weird, but i’ve got a lot of memories wrapped up into this woman’s work (which made me happy when she said something like, “i realize how essential writing records is to my health” [your music is essential to our health too, v]); i’ve got a lot of love for her and her pieces. and the respect i have for her as a person and as a musician? even deeply rooted. i’ll say this: valentine’s day with vanessa carlton made me realize that first true loves - musical and otherwise - never die. thank you for last night, v.

she probably didn't! LoL. I'm not sure I would either knowing that people only want to hear one song and the show was free. One of the girls that got to meet her said she looked really tired though so maybe some jet lag.
As for video, I am working on it! My flight was delayed (I couldn't get internet access at Laguardia aiport) and I have to work the next two nights (working right now..) and then I have another trip this weekend. I will try to get the video situated. Maybe check youtube every now andthen because people were video recording from their phones so maybe one of them posted it!

I'm working on the vids, but I only have new songs recorded, except heros and thieves, which is actually a double song..I didn't stop recording between that song and I don't want to be a Bride. The speech in between is HILARIOUS. She talks about her and Ari writing the song and how they often talk about aliens (which is great, I love the show Ancient Aliens on History channel! So if I ever do meet her I'm gonna ask her if she watches it hehe)

I kind of attached myself to these two girls who are not nessaholics (yet) but knew more songs that most people and I said to them, I wonder why she doesn't have her lace on the piano?? They just looked at me like I was crazy, they didn't know! I also love that middle picture but it looks like a devious smirk to me. Still cute though!

It might be because the flip I recorded it with records in HD, so things take longer and are bigger files (my guess)
You are welcome everyone. It was my utmost pleausre to even go and I KNEW something was going to be revealed so one of us HAD to go. I am at work now, but I plan on getting more videos to Kulp in the morning for him to upload for you guys!! I only got a few of the songs though, because I had limited space.
So glad I could share with you all, you are the only ones who understand the Vanessa obsession. Everyone looks at me like I have ten heads when I talk about her. People usually have never heard of her, and I want to spread the Vanessa love.

I really enjoy the violin on all her songs, especially this one (I am bias though, I played the violin and have always loved the way it sounds when it's played well). The version of Fair Weather Friend I have is the original and I too like those lyrics. But I do agree that it sounds more like a lullaby or a soothing melody. I think it will take me some getting used to (and a studio version) before I like the newer lyrics.

I guarantee you, the way I get audio, there is no loss of quality.
It is exactly the same as the video.
Maybe your mind is tricking you because you can see it at the same time you're hearing it.
lol no, my mind is not tricking me. I assure you there is quality loss in your conversion process whichever it is, I compared both (just listening the audios) more than once before saying so. You can hear that noisy metallic noise of a low bitrate conversion, you know. : )
