Title: Which song off BnN should my piano teacher teach me first?
Post by: Laura on January 20, 2004, 07:16:13 pm
I'm bringing in my BnN piano song book that I just got since my piano teacher said she'd teach me a few songs, so what's the first song I should ask her to teach me that is pretty easy to learn? Or one that you guys think I would be able to learn? I already learned some of Paradise all by myself (it's soo fun to play!) so that could be a possibility...

P.S. I'm in a poll mood all of a sudden ;) sorry this is my last for today.

...i said rinse, just cause that song has SweeTness all over it.

i dont know which one is easiest though... but im sure other people here do :?

I'd say it's a little hard to start with though . . .start Twilight, OD, then Sway maybe?  Call me crazy but I think Sway is just very natural, your hands never end up having to do anything funky or uncomfortable . . .

OD, Wanted..

I don't play piano.. I basically taught myself with the BNN songbook.. and OD came easily for me.

Wanted is fun..

No she knew that you didn't play the vocal part, but she just didn't get it because it would just sound weird playing the bottom two without the vocals, you know? That's what I don't get either, it would just sound weird playing the bottom two.  :?

Most of the songs are very very close if not excatly what V plays.  You have to sing over it

Wanted is fun to play too!

It will be good to do any of the songs at the end of the day....especially if you add some of your own ideas to it! Either that or you could do two or three seperate songs and build them together...always a laugh :)

hahah, just make sure to find a good teacher. The best advice I can give would be not to choose one right away, search around then decide.  :)

It can get hard, but once you understand all the notes and that crap, it gets funner after you've taken lessons for awhile  :D

wow! you guys, i'm learning Unsung now! it is soo cool! I've learned all of Ordinary Day, & my teacher even played the top part, & I played the bottom, it sounded really cool! She asked what song I wanted to learn next, & she was like "how about unsung?" & i'm all "that's like the hardest one of her songs besides a thousand miles I think" & she's all "no you could learn it" so yup lol it just sounds so hard to play when you listen to the song, but so far the first page is easy- & fun! I'm just on the first page tho since I just started it.

That's it.  Half step is the next closest key, key as in the thing you press key not urghhh . . .so if it's written half step lower, to play it how V does you have to move every note up one key or "half step"  I don't have my book with me or else I'd tell you the actual key as in what gets sharps and flats and yeaaa.

I did a crap job explaining that :?

it means move all the notes one semi-tone up like if the music is written as C then move it to C#, if it's written as F and Bb together then move it too F# and B.

They think by moving the key from C# to C will make it easier to play...dum asses the same happens in the Selections from innocent eyes sheet music, they write Will You Fall For Me in the key of C instead of its original key of Bb which is a pain because you have to read it but THINK as well grrrrrrrrrr

Twilight is easy.  Easy enough to where I started playing the vocals and the bass piano part to add in some extra...fun.  But nevertheless its great.

Unsung is fairly easy, but it has some difficult rhythms.  A Thousand Miles is the first song I learned.  I would recommend is first.  Ordinary Day is pretty easy too.  It's in C.
