I made a little video, my first ever, so don't expect too much, just pictures that go from one to the next with no transitions; but because people have been taking liberties, I decided to make my own!

enjoy!
Lyrics as I hear them:
feel it come on like a sudden hope
bursting through all life's stone
it's beautiful as the sadness starts to quiet
leave the city for the desert sky
its like one big eye on you
____ it now and
the horses wanna run
and they run
you know what you should do
you choose not to know
keys hang lowaround your neck
i know what you know
unlock the lock
unlock the lock
unlock the lock
___ things, but it doesn't matter
like a pact you remembered once
something's coming in on you and it's pure
is it love?
you know what yous should do
you choose not to know
keys hang low 'round your neck
i know what you know
Unlock the lock (repeat)
feel it come on like a sudden
bursting through all life's stone
beautiful as the sadness starts to quiet
it is love
it is love
Edit: this is my favorite of the new songs. In the intro for it she said this song was the one song that led to the new album. she said she was listening to bob dylan's radio show and it was all about keys and locks.
To me this song is about opening yourself up to love after having closed yourself off to the rest of the world, hence breaking through the stone. Through heart aches or troubles with trust, people can build walls around them, so to me this is about that one love, that great love, that broke through all the stone built up. No longer do we have to live with the sadness as the love replaces it.

thank you sou much, sara! this is definitely my favorite so far, as i expected it would be. :)

This is what I Love about Vanessa. I feel like Her songs speak to me! after listening to the instrumental version of this song I knew it was a very meaningful song. So beautiful! and your interpretation. Thank you for recording and sharing it!
-
So beautiful!
Thank you so much for sharing it with us ♥
-
Thanks for sharing, it's gorgeous, I love how she sings 'it is love'.
And, she tweeted back at you!

whhhhhaaaaat?!?!??!?!
later -- holy crap. it's just a thank you but it's the only tweet back i've ever gotten. so excited!
-
Hope that cheered you up a bit, Vanessa clearly appreciates your video and best wishes which is nice :)
I think maybe that the end lyric is
Bursting through a stone wall,' but I'm not 100% sure

it's a very eventful day for me. my sister is having a baby and vanessa tweeted me back. I'm good! makes it easier to think good thoughts for her (vanessa)

the "i know what you know" line makes me think about how one person in the relationship knows how real and lasting the relationship is before the other person does.
it seems like what might have happened with her and John. Or let me use them in my explanation at least. They met, and John knew it was for real and for long term before she would admit it or let him in all the way. so then she opened up and now she knows what he knew all along. it also reminds me of my husband and i. I kept pushing him away, and he stuck around and we have a great love.
-
Very interested in the song. Love the lyrics and the feel I get from it, but not crazy about the composition. I feel like it'll really be complemented by the processing on the final release. Piano alone isn't quite doing it for me. Really excited to hear the final piece though!!
-
i think it's "it's like one big eye on you" instead of "island you", and "you choose not to go" instead of "know".
-
i think it's "it's like one big eye on you" instead of "island you", and "you choose not to go" instead of "know".
i thought 'not to go" as well, but the second time she says it, it definitely sounds like know to me so i changed the first one too. hopefully she will sing it again later and we can get some better audio!
i also like the meaning of choosing "not to know", rather than "go" as well.
-
i think it's "it's like one big eye on you" instead of "island you", and "you choose not to go" instead of "know".
i like that! it works because in the desert, when it's dark all the stars are so bright and you can see so many of them!
-
"keys hang low around your neck"

"keys hang low around your neck"
I like it! works well! i updated it!

Feel it come on like a sudden hope
Bursting through a lost dome
It's beautiful as the sadness starts to quiet
Leave the city for a desert sky
It's like one big eye on you
The storm is now and the horses wanna run
And they run
You know what you should do
You choose not to go
The keys hangs low around your neck
I know what you know
Unlock the lock
Unlock the lock
Unlock the lock
Follow your feelings, but it doesn't matter
Like a pact you remember once
Something's coming in on you and it's pure
Is it love?
You know what you should do
You choose not to go
The keys hang low around your neck
I know what you know
Unlock the lock
Unlock the lock
Unlock the lock
Unlock the lock
Unlock the lock
Unlock the lock
Feel it come on like a sudden hope
Bursting through a lost hope
Beautiful as the sadness starts to quiet
It is love
It is love
---------------------------
the last few unlock the locks may be unlock the love...
not sure...
there are a couple other unsure parts as well..

Why did you upload something that was already uploaded by her? It's pointless and annoying how you always re-upload audio/videos that are not yours. Not cool
-
I love this new Vanessa! I can tell she's in love and happy. Her songs show it. Its a nice change of pace even if I do like "darker" V

you know, i was a little torn at first. the other songs have not spoken to me as much as this one does. I know what you mean about the darker V, i usually connect better with that part of her. but i do think it just shows her growth and where she is at in her life. i always feel like her music is a reflection of what stage of life she is in, so it's just another part of her growing into who she is and her maturation.
usually when she releases her music, i am at the same stage of life as when she wrote it... for instance, BBN was mainly written in her teenage years 16-17, and then when it was released I was that age and it spoke to me. each album has had some impact on me in the same stages of life she was in when she wrote them since she is only a few years older than me. the new stuff is growing on me, but i liked this one instantly.

is anyone willing to do a sheet music for this? haha. :)

I found this very interesting, though, I did find different lyrics upon listening. Do let me know what you think:
Feel it come on like a sudden hope
Bursting through the hall of stone
It's beautiful as the sadness starts to quiet.
Leave the city for the desert sky
It's like one big eye on you
The storm is now and the horses wanna run,
And they run.
You know what you should do
You choose not to go
The key hangs low 'round your neck
I know what you know.
Unlock the lock (x3)
__ things but it doesn't matter
Like a pact you remember once
Something's coming in on you and it's pure
Is it love?
You know what you should do
You choose not to go
Key hangs low 'round your neck
I know what you know
Unlock the lock (x3)

It's beautiful as the sadness starts to quiet

she hasn't been playing it.. at leas not in her us tour that she did. it was not on any of the set lists I think. the time I heard it might have been one of a few times.
-
Hmmm. I guess she just means she hasn't played it on this tour yet? She used to play it all the time... I've got a few recordings of her playing it live, so you're not dreaming. Maybe she was nervous, too, 'cause she used to mess up on the intro pretty often lol.
The story about her mom is so cute though! Ahh. Wish she had played Twilight haha.
