Title: Vanessa Hudgens' Photo Scandal
Post by: soupdujour on September 08, 2007, 12:41:39 am
I think she just did it to break free of the whole Disney image. But she could've lagged it a bit to not make it so obvious.

Yes, I did read the article. She says that they are real and were taken in private. Isn't she only like 18?

I also read she has an album dropping this month entitled, V.

Never seen High School Musical 1 or 2 but I know kids love it. Apparently parents are outraged and complaining to Disney.

Hey wasn't that album released like a year ago? But yeah, my sister was such a Vanessa Hudgens fan and now that she found out that she took those nude pics of herself, she said that she wouldn't want to idolize someone who would do that... pretty mature for a 6th grader.  :)

i love high school musical (friend invited me to the ice show in LA next month) & she seems like a sweet girl. It sucks what happened for the fans that looked up to her, but everyone makes mistakes.

If parents are so worried about their kids seeing the pictures, they should watch their children while they are online or get some program that blocks pictures like that or unknown sites. Disney better not fire her.

Honestly, I don't understand the nude thing. Everyone has a naked body, and while I'd prefer that people in general don't run around naked CONSTANTLY (although some celebs practically do anyway), I don't think it's that big a deal if it gets out that someone posed nude. Especially if it was in a relationship situation and not a monetary situation (I was young, I needed the work!). People in relationships who love each others' bodies will do things like photograph them (and make sex tapes?).
This girl's photo (at least the completely nude one, there were some in lingerie), was not sexually explicit or even really that suggestive. She was just smiling, naked, in a shower. I guess, in this case, sexuality is a "big deal" because she's a Disney actress who is supposed to be a role model for little kids.
However, people (especially those little kids' mothers) forget that 18 year-old girls make mistakes. Those little kids' mothers forget how they took naked pictures for their boyfriends back in the day. If anything, she is teaching little girls not to make the same kind of mistake. Perhaps they could be a bit young for that lesson, but has anyone else noticed how sexed up little girls are nowadays? They are growing up way too fast and, in my opinion, it can't really be too early to learn the responsibility that comes with sex.

I just really dislike High School Musical and I dislike the fact that they are all releasing albums, as if they are real musicians. When Hannah Montana's album tops the billboard charts, there is a real problem in the music business.

somebody seriously needs to save the industry. i'm not even kidding. wtf is music going to be 10 years from now if this is what it is today :(

I agree with Noelle.

And what Hannah Montanna does is NOT music, for the love of god. Her song are repetitive, annoying, talentless, and fake sounding.
With her, there really is no raw talent. No amazing voice, or instrumental talents. She is not what I call a singer, and I would never buy one of her CDs. Not if someone paid me.
Sorry, now that Im done expressing my hate toward Miley whats-her-face, we can get back on the topic of Miss Hudgen's photo scandal...

I just saw the pics on my #1 source for trashy celeb gossip, ohnotheydidnt on LJ. I don't even know what to say other than LOL.

I mean, one of the other girls from HSM could have taken her down to Mrs. Chang's Tanning Salon, and hooked her up with a wax, damn.

I do hope she dosen't end up really being recasted with that Cheetah girl fof HSM3. I do like Gabrella, even though Sharpay is so much more awesome.

Personally, I am backing Vanessa. I don't see the big deal really. She took a private picture of herself, for her boyfriend, and it leaked. Thing do have a way of leaking, so you can't really say she did on purpose, as you have no proof she did so whatsoever. This, to me, shows that she is a real person, and that finally her "innocent girl" reputation floating around her constantly has been diminished. This is good to me, and like others have said, it is natural that everyone has a body underneath clothes. If someone more like Britney (I am just using her as an example) was to have this happen to her, people wouldn't react like they did to Vanessa. And for the record, Disney are keeping her, thankfully.

As for those, who are saying things about HSM/HSM2, that it is stupid, you would never watch it, you really have to realise that it is just a bit of feel-good fun, and everyone needs that in their lives at some point. It was initially made for kids, but it blew up so big, because adults also did like it.

Vanessa has issued an apology, end of.

While I do think HSM and Hannah Montana's successes are too much, I don't think that they have no purpose. Of course they have a purpose. Young kids, especially girls, love it. But I think it's sad when real musicians get sidelined by these concocted kiddie products. And they are products.

The whole HSM cast is getting record deals when real musicians can't find the same success.
Title: Vanessa Hudgens' Photo Scandal

The record industry doesn't care about real mucisians, they care about marketable products that generate revenue. I think the outlandish success of HSM would only naturally lead to individual record contracts with the cast members, I mean, it's a pretty obvious progression. With the amount of money Disney has made off of HSM, think about what they could do with solo acts, and there's already a huge established market out there for these people to sell these records too. Give the people what they want.

It makes sense.

Ah, idealism.  It's adorable.

Tell me, PFF, what are "real musicians" if they aren't the musicians making music that people like?

Is there am empirical standard for judging music that I am not aware of?

Like, I know 1 is smaller than 10 in a base 10 mathematical system.  I know this because it is inherent in math.

But tell me, how do you know one musician is better than another?

Are you serious?  :?  Shut up Andrew.

Stop wasting everyone's time here and join a debate team. Jesus christ.

I am not going to argue for the sake of arguing, find someone else to amuse yourself with, NoelleNC seems to be doing a pretty good job of feeding into your narcissim. And it's annoying quite frankly.

What I had written was simple enough to understand, I am not interested in a philosophical dicussion of what it means to be a "real musician", I only stated that people such as Zac Efron are marketable, and already have a marketed fanbase willing to buy whatever Disney pushes through him. End of conversation, no need to bring in notions of how to determine a musicians worth, because it's pretty pointless since it's all objective.

If you are looking to have that conversation than I am sorry, you'll have to go elsewhere.

Wow.  You are really insecure.  You should see someone about that.  Did someone bully you when you were little or something?  Cause spazing out everytime someone challenges you is really unhealthy.

Also, I am pretty sure when you said "no need to bring in notions of how to determine a musicians worth, because it's pretty pointless since it's all objective." you meant SUBJECTIVE.

Which is exactly the point.   It's all subjective.  See, it's easy when you agree with me.

So it really isn't my idealism.
