Polls / What's the cheesiest pick up line you've ever gotten?

I've never really gotten anything cheesy, just rude. "...Are you wearing anything under that?"

I also noted that he had a thoroughly disturbing smile. 8O

Vanessa Songs / Lyrics / Sheet Music / Ordinary Day
« on: November 17, 2007, 07:53:55 pm »
Personally, I love it as my favorite song because I slow danced to it with my first love. :)

I also love the chorus, and the lyrics. It's so relaxing, not to mention the tune is beautiful to listen to.

Anyone else who's a fan? :3

Creative Endeavors / Photomanipulation, anyone?

I first started out with Photoshop when I was around 10, just screwing around with random pictures on plain old Photoshop Elements. Once I got my own computer at 11, I begged my dad to install Photoshop in it, and all I got was Version 6.0, but I adored it because it was so much more complicated than Elements. Then 6.0 became CS2 and from that it went to the CS3 I use now. Here are some of the works I do with Photoshop, just in case anyone's interested.

Elements of Deception
My latest photomanip; took me a few hours but I got it just the way I wanted.

Aquiline
Nothing special, just something I'm proud of because I repainted most of the lady and did a lot to get her wings right.

Fae
A quick burst of creativity, it's now one of my favorite photomanips. I'm not much of an "artsy fartsy" photomanipulator, more of a "whole-story-behind-it" kind, but I like it because it's, well, pretty. :D

Nerina
One of my favorites from the CS2 era, simply because it was the first time I truly experimented with water. It turned out not so bad, but I really want to do a remake or something.

If anyone else has any works, I'd just love to see them.

Completely Off-Topic / School dress codes
« on: November 17, 2007, 07:00:17 pm »
Minors don't get their say? Now that is the single most discriminatory thing I've ever heard so far. It sounds like you're actually agreeing with that. Then again, nobody's listening to this, so why bother?

Returning to the topic, we don't have a dress code. We wear itchy plaid uniforms instead, and an all-white version of it during the days we have Mass. D:

I love her work, especially Luna and Keeping You A Secret. I'm starting to read Define "Normal" right now. I may not be transsexual or gay, but I love how she writes and more importantly, what she writes about. She brings a very deep subject to us very gracefully.

Creative Endeavors / A Script for a Project
« on: November 16, 2007, 06:27:31 am »
My grade just recently went to a camp arranged by the school called Peace Camp, and our Social Studies teacher gave each group a video project to answer the questions she gave us. My group asked me to make the script; tell me what you think about this first draft.

P.S. I took out all of the full names for their owners' safety.

Social Studies Video Project

[black screen]

[after a few seconds, the words slowly appear then fade out for the next words:

PRESENTING

A GROUP 5 FILM

FOR SOCIAL STUDIES

[the title suddenly flies in very fast, Music 1 starts to play]

PEACE CAMP: A COMPLETE REFLECTION

[black screen w/ title slides to left, brings in actual video, showing a blank wall]

Eliana: [walks by quickly, slaps onto the wall a piece of paper with tape on it] [goes off-screen]

Paper: STARRING (name), (name), etc.

[screen slides up, brings in next shot of an open door leading into the classroom]

Rovi: [runs on-screen and into the classroom, slamming door shut to reveal another piece of paper taped to it]

Paper: FOR A PROJECT BY (teacher’s name) OF SOCIAL STUDIES

[screen slides to the right, brings in next shot of the floor in the hallway, with stroller bags being pulled by people going by]

[all of the stroller bags leave, revealing a dirty, torn piece of paper on the floor]

Paper: WITH A MUSIC VIDEO ON PEACE CAMP

[Music 1 stops, screen slides down, brings in music video, which plays]

-

[after the music video, screen fades to shot of a small, dark space, only three lines of light in front]

[Mia is seen coming, opens the locker door- the small dark spaces turns out to be the inside of a locker]

Mia: [stares into the camera before bringing up a sign]

Sign: THE QUESTIONS

[cut to front of Michelle sitting in her desk writing on test paper]

Michelle: [looks up, brings test paper up to show something written on the back]

Paper: HOW HAS PEACE CAMP CHANGED YOU?

[very fast shot of the entire group together, talking and laughing]

[cut to Timmy sitting in the teacher’s desk, hands together]

Timmy: [says the answer]

[cut to Liel sitting with her legs in the gym pool, with pants rolled up]

[illustration board in the water slowly floats to her, bumps her in the legs]

Liel: [sees board, picks it up to show to the audience]

Sign: WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM PEACE CAMP?

[very fast shot, like last time, except the entire group is sitting in the chairs looking down, they suddenly look up]

[cut to Kirstie sitting Indian-style in front of the lockers]

Kirstie: [says the answer]

[cut to the whole group lying down on the grass forming a circle with their heads, they all take pieces of paper off-screen and holding them up together to form a rectangle, on the paper is the last question broken up]

Pieces of paper: WHAT’S NEXT?

Entire group: [take papers down] [say the answer together]

[Music 2 starts to play, the group slowly begins to smile, then suddenly get off the ground to show just the grass]

Nina: [runs back in with piece of paper, lays it on the ground, then runs off-screen again]

Paper: THE END

[close-up of paper]

[credits roll]

Group: [during the credits, each member comes at different times to fix the paper, or move it]

[at the end, Bea walks in to take it away, screen fades to black]

Introduce Yourself / Yo.
« on: November 16, 2007, 06:01:28 am »
Hi everyone, my name's Nina and I'm 13. I live in the Philippines, but there's no need to make easy-peasy sentences to help me understand; I can speak English just fine and nobody has to baby me.

When Vanessa first started, I listened to her music and I just plain liked it. But like turned to adoring because I slow danced with my first love to Ordinary Day and it's just something I want to keep with me forever. :D Damn, I just love her for giving me a memory like that.

I use Photoshop, so all the graphics I use are made by me. I have a DeviantArt is anyone's interested, right here: http://hyperstrudel.deviantart.com

I like making music on the piano. One of these days I'll post a video of me playing one of my works, but then again, I don't have a camera. So you'll have to wait.

So... hi. :3
