It is mainly about Stevie Nicks, but I thought this part was kind of cool

Quote
"I guess the songs never get old for me because they're all so personal. When I perform them, I try to remember who I was then, who that version of me was. It's really heavy sometimes, and sometimes I still get really emotional."

Nicks says that watching her tour mate Carlton perform has much the same effect on her.

"I adore that girl, but I can't watch her because I get all choked up," she says. "Vanessa reminds me so much of myself at that age. You know, Lindsey (Buckingham) and I were very much in love, and I had this intense passion for (making music). I cry because she makes me remember why I started doing this."

Carlton recently commented how honored she is to be sharing a stage with one of rock's legends. Nicks says Carlton needs to stop with the legend stuff, because, while she's proud of her work, Nicks believes she has yet to write her one defining song.

The whole Nicks/Carlton tour has been a love-fest, lol. I think it has really been good for Vanessa and her career, though.  8)

My friend was doing a random name search and came across her website.

Being the music geek I am, I actually checked out her music... it is actually not bad.

The song "What I Know" (which is going to be on the new CD coming out in the fall) is up for download on the site. I DL'ed it, I like it. It sounds like a piano/vocal. Pretty cool  :).

Rap radio is complete crap these days, the only rapper who is even mildly attempting other than T.I. is Mike Jones.

If you listen to pop / rap radio, I'm sure you've heard "Still Tippin'" by now. I never listen to the radio, and on the rare occasion I do, I always hear it.

Opening for Nicks' Gold Dust Tour was Vanessa Carlton (``A Thousand Miles''), an accomplished pianist with a girlish voice who offered an impressive mix of original music vaguely reminiscent of a young Janis Ian.

I move that we Nessaholics set aside a special 'Stevie Nicks' day! :D

.. well, I don't have the power to make a Stevie Nicks Day, but I do have the power to make a thread for her  .

Of course we all are grateful to Stevie for taking Vanessa on tour with her and exposing her to a whole new audience, but I think anyone who goes to see V but stays for Stevie will be pretty impressed.

I had no intention of staying for Stevie after Vanessa's set, but I did and her set really blew me away. I was very, very impressed. She has a great stage presence, and really seemed like she was having fun up there.

During one of her songs, Stevie went the entire length of the stage shaking hands and talking to the people in the first few rows while her band played behind her. I thought that was pretty classy and very cool.

Even without knowing most of the songs or lyrics, it was still an extremely enjoyable performance. Her band was awesome, and the video board choreography was very impressive. I'm sure for a fan of Stevie and her music, the show I went to would have been the perfect show.

And just to wrap this up and bring it back to a Vanessa perspective, I think being on tour with Nicks will help V grow as an artist, and will challenge her to give an A+ performance every night because she's opening for someone who is going to bring their A+ performance every night.
