I've always wondered what the South would have called themselves if they had actually won the war...
-
No, I have never seen a grit. Never smelled one. Never ate one. And if I ever go into the south all I want to eat is part of a pig rosting around on a spit and with an apple in its mouth. Not a grit! eww isn't that like shredded wheat??

No . . . I don't like to have anything to do with the South. Not me, never.
You all wonder why I'm moving to New York.
-
wtf is a grit!!?? We have some rank food here too, grits sounds like one of those rank things too!
-
They need a ton of salt or something. It's like tasteless oatmeal or malto meal with out the sugar or butter. :?
-
grits with butter -sometimes cheese!!! YUMMMMMM!!! waffle house fave~!
-
No.
-
What I don't understand is people who like to put salt and pepper on their grits. I prefer a little sugar and butter myself.
-
My mom is from Mississippi.
She makes them sometimes.
-
I can't fathom how in the hell i ended up in the south... there are so many things i dislike about it.. GRITS being very near the top... so this "Southern" guy gives a HUGE "hell no" to this question...
-
grits are made from corn right? - they are a gritty hot white substance - kindof like in-between oatmeal and rice - but they have very little taste - mostly just texture - that's why most people can add such a wide range of flavors and seasonings to their grits.... a lot of resturants in the south are making them as a side with gourmet foods these days you can get them with jalapenos or you can find shrimp topping them off...
