That's simply amazing..... For those who dont know what im talking about...

Any how, how many songs do you think will be on the album? Do you think she'll stick to 10....with a bonus song?
-
That's pretty good....I'm assuming she means basic tracks, overdubs, and a mix for each song. Very good. Lots of that depends on the complexity of the production. I guess Linda runs a tight ship, plus VC has to be very comfortable in the studio now. All good news. Hopefully, all these songs are going onto the finished album.
DAMN I hope Morning Sting gets in there somewhere. That would have been one of my favorite tracks on Harmonium.

i think there will be 11 songs.
-
Yeah, she is really going at it. Maybe we will get Morning Sting.
-
i totally agree... morning sting is a great song
-
She says it's not a crappy song, but just that it hasn't made an album yet. But since she's been keeping it in her live setlist so long, why shouldn't it be on VC3?! :D
-
Man, I really hope she has more than 11 songs, I know that I shouldn't be so pushy, but i want COMPLETELY NEW stuff, nothing we've heard before. I really hope she has like 15 or 16 tracks! That would rock!
-
Man I just hope these aren't pop songs...I want Nessa to stick to her style and not change herself. I mean by what she said thats the look of it, but I'm still scared I guess.
-
does anyone know if she has a date yet as to when it will be out? or a month?
-
some people on the board talked about may. Lets hope we dont have to wait long. 15 Tracks would be so great but i think it will left as an illusion. We'll see
-
Hopefully it's her being comfortable...i think she needs a good, focused piece of work...which, 5 songs in two weeks sounds like focus lol. She needs another ATM-esque song (not that it sounds like ATM, but one that is marketable to all ages...fun to listen to, etc.). And maybe a little more promo this time around  .
I can't wait for the new album...as long as I don't have to wait 2 years.
-
I miss the days when the Beatles would put 14 songs on every album. Of course, they were only about three minutes long then also.
-
I think, and hope, she'll have 12 songs. I believe this will be kinda like a "Vanessa Strikes Back" album. I think it will blow us away, be better than both of her current albums, which are already amazing.

I like that thinking! :D

You have to get over "Morning Sting". Tricia has forever ruined this song for all of humanity.
-
some people on the board talked about may.
That's a bit ambitious.

Yep! They would also come out every 6 months or less 8O !

yeah... i don't see that happening.
i seriously hope it's longer than harmonium.
-
how long after an album is done does it get released?
if its done before she leaves to Austraila, how much longer would it take to release it?
-
She probably finished that song up for me. I told her she had to get crackin' on that one for sure.
-
 According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org), Be not Nobody (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Be_Not_Nobody) has a runtime of 45:51 and Harmonium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmonium_%28album%29) has a runtime of 43:15.

Once she submits a finished master to the record company, I don't see why it would take more than a couple of weeks, provided the artwork is done, etc. However, labels like to time releases so that they don't compete with others from either their label or competitors. Artists hope to have the album out when they tour, for obvious reasons.
The short version of your answer: next to no time, but there are so many factors that affect an album's release. There is no science to it, unfortunately.

but decided to sign up today

Welcome :D
Wow, five songs, that's great :D
I doubt there'll be more than 10/11 tracks, but we can always hope. I'm willing to trade in some waiting time for a longer album :)

Ok, I know I probably sound like a bad Vanessa fan, but I didn't know she was working with Linda Perry for the new album! I'm so excited. Linda Perry did M!SSUNDAZTOOD with P!nk and stripped with Christina Aguilera which are 2 of my favorite albums.
-
I don't like stripped. And I can't finish this post because we have general guidelines about language. :?
-
Christina lost me after the first album, too, but, even without liking all of the songs she has produced, I can recognize the quality of the production.
THAT is why I'm pretty happy about Linda/VC.

Linda Perry also produced some song off of "Back To Bedlam" a.k.a. James Blunt's album. She also helped him get a record deal. So hi's album is amazing and her producing skills are amazing too. So I think this will be the album from Vanessa.
-
I think that looking at the buzz the album is sorta already getting, it could be a big hit! We really need to promote this one like mad! She can really make a comeback, I mean look at Fiona Apple, if she can make a huge comeback-so can V! I think 2006 is going to be the year for V! :D

I was with her through the first three albums, and I had such high hopes after hearing her cover of Etta James' "At Last", but then came "Lady Marmalade" and she just went off a cliff after that. :(
-
I think Harmonium came out beautifully with Stephan Jenkins producing. It seemed like he did everything he could to make the album sound how Vanessa imagined it.
I hope that Vanessa isn't trying to "rebound" from her commercial failure of Harmonium by focusing more on what she thinks fans want to hear rather than what would come from her gut without any alterior motives.
I have nothing against Linda Perry, but I hope that Vanessa is working with her because she thinks Linda brings her vision alive, and not because she thinks Linda can make her songs sound more radio friendly.
Vanessa definately never came across as the type that would sacrifice even a little bit of her vision or integrity for extra market appeal; however, I've seen much more shocking scenarios play out in the entertainment industry before.
"Private Radio" and "Carnival" are great songs, and I love them. But, I don't want a whole VC album full of them. Ten "She Floats" and one or two "Private Radio" style songs sounds good to me.
