Sorry, I'm not sure if posting a thread like this is against the rules or not...

I bought 3 tickets for this show, but my friends are unable to come now due to a wedding, however, I am of course still going even though I'll be alone!

I heard the show is sold out so if you or anyone you know needs a ticket, let me know!! $25 each!! I can meet you at the show :)

Completely Off-Topic / Thought you guys might be able to help...
« on: September 09, 2009, 09:12:42 am »
So coming up on the 17th is my all time favorite musician's birthday. I really, really, really want to get him something, but I have no idea what to get him. I HAVE to get him something... I'm his biggest fan. I know it, he knows it, his other fans know it.

But here's the thing: all of my friends think I shouldn't get him something because they think it'll make me look like a creep! hahaha.

I am his biggest fan, but at the same time I know him. and he knows me. I've been going to his shows for so long that I'm pretty much friends with him and his band and his wife and family and everyone who's at his shows. But I don't care! I'm his fan first, friend second! How is it fair that just because I've come to get so close to him/his band that I'm suddenly not allowed to act like a fan?!

He's more than just my favorite musician... he's my hero. my inspiration. my idol. all that jazz. He's the one who opened up the world of indie music to me. He really truly is my hero and I want him to know that! Well he does know that, but I want to get him a gift for his birthday, is that so bad?! Besides, for my birthday he got me 2 backstage passes and sang me a song personally.. and on another birthday he gave me a shout out during the show and thanked me for all the support, etc. etc. Basically, he's acknowledged my birthday so I feel like I should be allowed to acknowledge his hahaha.

ANYWAY, 1. do you guys think I should get him something? and 2. What should I get? I have like a million pictures with him so I don't know if I can somehow incorporate that. (when I suggested that to a friend, he said, "What, do you think he's gonna put it on his nightstand?!" UGH) but I also want to include a written note of some sort. telling him how grateful I am for him and his music. what he's taught me. and that I'm thankful everyday for everything he's done for me. they say you shouldn't meet your hero because you'll be disappointed, but I'm reminded every time I see him that he surpasses my expectations of what a hero should be. He's talented, humble, grateful and generous. I want to somehow in a small way (LIKE A BIRTHDAY PRESENT) repay him for all of that.

soooo... what do you think?

(I know I sound like an obsessed freak.....bah)

Completely Off-Topic / Cindy Crawford
« on: December 03, 2007, 10:49:51 am »
Yesterday (which was Britney Spears' 26th birthday by the way), my friend and I went to In N Out and guess who was ordering right in front of us? Yup, Cindy effing Crawford.

It was so funny because she was with her husband and there was no one else around, but I thought to myself, "Hmm.. that woman resembles Cindy Crawford." But I didn't think that it actually WAS her at all. I was just secretly being jealous that this random nobody was lucky enough to look like Cindy Crawford.

Then after she was done ordering, she turned and walked away and I told my friend, "That girl looks like Cindy Crawford." And he was like, "Ugh. No..."

And I kept arguing with him saying, "OMG yes she does!" Keep in mind that this whole time I still didn't even know it really was her.

Then she sort of scratched her face on the left side and my friend jokingly said, "She just scratched her mole," and we laughed. Meaning... she would be scratching a mole if it were really Cindy and she really had a mole.

But then she turned to the side, AND SHE TOTALLY HAD A MOLE! Hahahahaha. Seriously, I wish I had that moment caught on tape. Because my friend was totally kidding when he said that she was scratching her mole and then literally right after, she turned to the side and we saw it. We both looked at eachother and laughed so hard!

Then we told the guy that works at In N Out, "You know that's Cindy Crawford right there." And he was like, "Ha yea I noticed."

Then the guy behind was like, "I knew it was her!"

She was waiting FOREVER for her food and while she was waiting, a guy went up to her and was like, "Are you Cindy Crawford?" And she was like, "I am." Then he asked to take a picture and she did.

My friend would NOT let me take a picture with her! I was sooo mad! He said he didn't want to bother her, ugh. I seriously was so mad at him.

We left and went to the gas station across the street, but we could still see her. She actually stayed and ate there (the seating is outside). And then they got in the car (a bentley) and got on the freeway towards LA.

So random. She was beautiful by the way. She was wearing skinny jeans, light purple ballet slippers, a white shirt and a black sweater. And she was wearing sun glasses. If anyone cares...

Completely Off-Topic / Famous Phone Call
« on: October 01, 2007, 10:40:01 am »
I just wanted to brag that Tyler Hilton called me on Thursday. Hahaha. Yup, yup he did. It was SO embarrassing.

In case any of you don't know who Tyler Hilton is, he played Chris on One Tree Hill and he also played Elvis Presley in Walk the Line. And of course, he's also a musician. (A GREAT musician, I might add!)

During the summer, my friends and I went on a road trip from socal to Georgia. We got to Georgia on a Saturday morning and decided to drive up to Nashville that night (an additional 3 1/2 hours to our 4 day drive) to see Tyrone Wells.

The show was fabulous and everything was great. When I got back home to California, I found out that Tyler Hilton was at the show. AND I HAD NO IDEA. I saw a picture and he was sitting at the table RIGHT NEXT TO ME and I had no clue.

I was very upset and I left Tyrone's drummer a comment saying something to the affect of, "WHY WOULDN'T YOU TELL ME TYLER HILTON WAS AT YOUR SHOW IN NASHVILLE?!?!"

He never responded so I thought he didn't care.

Well a couple weeks ago at Tyrone's show in LA, Mark (Tyrone's drummer) came up to me and was like, I'm gonna have Tyler Hilton call you.

I was like, "SHUT UP!!!!"

He told me that Tyrone and Tyler Hilton are doing some promotional thing together (I really didn't pay attention to the explanation to be quite honest) and that they'd be together at the end of September. And he'd have him call me. I guess Mark DID read my comment and DID care haha.

Anyway, so last Thursday at like 10pm I was laying in bed with the lights out watching my TiVo-ed Kid Nation when my phone rang.

Mystery Voice- "Hey, is this Sammie?"
Me- "Yes..."
Tyler- "Hey this is Tyler Hilton."
Me- "HEY!"
T- "How are you?"
Me- "Good... you?"
T- "I'm good.. I'm just hanging out with Mark and he said you were in Nashville and you didn't even come say hi."
Me- "I'm sorry! I didn't even know you were there!"
T- "Well didn't stay very long so I guess I can forgive you."

And then we talked about random stuff I don't remember.

T- "Where are you from?"
Me- "California."
T- "Oh, LA?"
Me- "Yea Orange County."
T- "Oh, cool. I do a show every year around Christmas time in Orange County so if you're free during December you should come out. Just come and say, Hey I'm Sammie, you called me!"
Me- nervous laughter... heh.
T- "Ok well hopefully I'll see you soon, here's Mark."

Mark- "Heyyy Sammieeee!"
Me- "OMG AWKWARD!!!!  You should have told me when he'd call!!!!"
Mark- "Haaa no, that wasn't awkward."

Then I heard Tyler in the background say, "Awkward?!?!"

Mark- "Tyler doesn't think it was awkward... he wants to talk to you again."
Me- "Oh gosh haaa, ok."

Tyler- "That was NOT awkward... what we have is totally normal."
Me-  "I'm sorry, it was awkward!"
Tyler- "Nooo, it wasn't!"
Me- "Ok I just chose the wrong word. I just wasn't expecting that right now."
Tyler- "Ok I can understand that. It was unexpected, but not awkward."
Me- "Haha ok, sorry."

Then he gave the phone back to Mark and we talked about stuff that no one would be interested in hahahah.

BUT OMG, it totally WAS SO AWKWARD you don't even knoooow. Hahahhahaha. oh em gee. And I was FREAKING OUT afterwards. I just called everyone I knew and I was like, "OMG TYLER HILTON JUST CALLED ME!!!"

And now it's all I think about. Hence this thread. That's all. :)

Other Musicians / Tyrone Wells
« on: August 28, 2007, 07:58:28 pm »
I'm sure not many, if any,  people have heard of him, but he's absolutely genius when it comes to music. I wish there was someone I could compare him to, but there's no one that would really do him justice. He has a wide range of style... alternative, blues, rock, pop, folk, country, blue grass and rhythm and blues. Some people have even related some of it to reggae. Regardless, his music is so touching and to top it off, he's an amazing person inside and out. I've been obsessed with him since I first saw him play on the sidewalk at an outdoor mall where I live and since then I have seen him grow and accomplish so much. He was signed to Universal (cool, right?!) last August and has had shows sponsored by Star 98.7. He's had a lot of songs featured in movies and different shows on MTV, Lifetime, and more.  More recently he was featured under MySpace music. I can't even tell you enough how much he truly deserves all of his success and I can't beg you enough to give his music a listen! It would mean SO much to me!

P.S. Did I mention he he is tall, white and skinny? Bet you didn't picture that when you heard his name haha.

P.S.S. In addition to singing, at his shows he likes to rap, yodel (yes, yodel) and beat box.

I'd also just like to say how grateful and amazing he is to his fans. I've seen him more than 10 times this year; one being in Nashville (35 hours from where I'm from). He will stay after a show for as long as it takes to talk to and take pictures with every single fan who wants to. For my birthday, he surprised me with 2 backstage passes at his show at HOB Anaheim and he let me request a song for him to sing to me. That video is on YouTube here:

Please, please, PLEASE, I beg you... I'm on my knees... listen to just one of his songs. I promise you'll love him!

Introduce Yourself / HELLO!!!!
« on: August 16, 2007, 09:37:00 am »
Hi everyone! I'm Sammie. I've always just kind of stalked nessaholics and never really joined. So that's kinda lame and a little bit creepy on my part. But I finally joined and here I am now so that's all that matters! Well I turned 19 years old in June and my mom got me tickets to Vanessa's show at the Roxy. I was ECSTATIC! It was so weird because this year I've been to like a MILLION shows and concerts and I started getting really obsessed with seeing my favorite singers/musicians live. I'm a HUGE fan of Vanessa so I remember having a conversation with my friend about how cool it would be to see her live, but I wasn't expecting to see her anytime soon AT ALL since she's kinda been MIA for a long time. Then one day she sent out a bulletin on MySpace and I immediately called my friend and we were freaking out! I couldn't believe that we were talking about it like 2 days prior and it happened! Side note: the show was absolutely amazing. Anyway, I live in Southern California. It's 10:30 in the morning right now and it's super hot. I think that's about it. This is the longest introduction EVER haha. Well I think that's it.

P.S.
I'm sure Vanessa has a street team... can anyone tell me how I can sign up for that? Thanks! :)
