They grow 'em young in country music.
16 year old Taylor Swift from Wyomissing, PA caught my ear tonight when I was listening to the radio. Her debut single, "Tim McGraw" (gotta make that guy feel old, people are making songs about his music, lol) is pretty good. I liked it. I like the other song she has on MySpace, too.
At 15 years old Taylor became the youngest recruit to Big Machine Records, a joint venture between former Dreamworks executive Scott Borchetta and country superstar Toby Keith.

Taylor's self-titled debut came out today.
It is actually really good. I like it! :D
She kind of reminds me a bit of Avril vocally. I am definitely diggin' the tunes. So far my favorites other than "Tim McGraw" are "Our Song", "Teardrops on my Guitar" and "Cold As You". The whole album is solid, check it out!
   :whip:

wow! I'm actually not much of a country fan (at all, to be honest)... but she is strangely appealing. And her voice definitely does not match her age. thanks for pointing her out. not sure if i'll buy her album yet though...
-
"Tim McGraw" I found to be a little cheesy but I really like the second single "Teardrops on my Guitar" alot. It was good enough to interest me enough to peep the whole album. Jury is still out on the album as a whole but the girl has a lot of potential, and needed a good bump from me.
-
TomG is probably my second favorite song on the album after Cold As You.
A lot of the songs on the album are kind of cliche, but overall I think she has a lot of potential and I really dig the album, even almost 6 months after it released. :)
-
i loveeeeeeeeee her, shes such amazing singer. i acually just got into her a few weeks ago, um i burned her c-d from one of my girlfriends, and im about to buy it. my favorite song on the record is "tied together with a smile" and "oh my my my". i cant believe she is only 17 or so.

Taylor performed a shortened version of "Tim McGraw" at the ACM awards:

"Hi, I'm Taylor"
*points* "That's Tim McGraw, oh my god!" hahaha.
-
oh, i love taylor! cold as you and should of said no are my favorites.
-
She's got a lovely voice. I'm going to get her debut album. She's opening for my favourite Guitar player, Brad Paisley. I realised no one actually replied on my Brad Paisley thread  < please do [pretty please].
-
Ah, Taylor.. One of my favourites! :D
-
Today is Taylor's birthday! She is no longer jail bait now, LOL.
I enjoyed watching the extra content on her CD/DVD re-release. Her Christmas album isn't bad either, although I'm not much of a Christmas music listener. They actually play "Teardrops on my Guitar" on the pop station here. The first time I heard it I was confused
-
She's on my cool list. I'm from Tennessee, and I say she has an accent. Her O's in particular. But I like what I've heard, and I keep hearing good things from others. I may have to check her out sometime.
-
Teardrops On My Guitar is the story of my life (with appropriate gender modifications, of course.) :P
-
I think she's very good. I was shocked to found out her age. I was thinking she was in her 20s. Didn't LeAnn Rimes start singing when she was 15?(I loved her stuff when she came out as well but only have few CDs of her). I might consider buying Taylor's CD! :)
-
i LOVE her... i saw her when she played at the oc fair.
did you know she wrote our song for her 9th grade talent show? how weird is that! and now it was #1 for 6 weeks or more. hahah could you imagine...
and it's strange cuz she really has no idea that she's famous. she always posts blogs on myspace that are like, "OMG you'll never guess who i got to meet yesterday!!!!" and "they let me sit at the table with the famous people!"
hahaha she has no clue that people love her.
-
I love her music, I didn't really get into country until I began listening to her
-
Taylor Swift is definately one of my idols.
-
I thought I liked her, heard that tears on my guitar song but I saw her on Regis & Kelly today and wow, she was horrible live!!
-
I don't know why she's so popular. Her voice is cute, but Jessica Andrews (who sort of caters to the same audience) is a much better singer. I don't know if she writes her own music though.
Teardrops is a catchy song though!
-
On R&K she was saying that she had a songwriting deal at like 13 or 15. Not sure who or what she wrote songs for.
I love Jessica Andrews and that is who she kinda reminded me of when I heard it but of course JA is 10 millions times better. Funny you said that.
-
I saw her on the CMT Music Awards the other day, and she was awesome. She put Miley Cyrus to shame that night. (Well, actually Miley put herself to shame because she just sounded harble, and I like her.)
-
Taylor Swift pretty much rocks. She's an awesome song writer and she seems really down to earth and in touch with her fans.
I know that she got signed as a songwriter for Big Machine Records when she was 15 or something, but I'm not sure which artists took her songs.

Taylor's sophomore effort, Fearless hits store shelves tomorrow (today?). I received my copy today via mail since there is no mail tomorrow. It's pretty good, not a letdown at all.
-
I've been listening to Fearless on repeat since it came out; it is SO GOOD.
And I love watching the recording process of some of the songs, the videos are on youtube...it's just so interesting to see how Taylor works in the studio and how the songs take shape. She was so cute when she was singing with Colbie Caillat on Breathe :)
But yeah...SUCH a good album. lovelovelove Taylor Swift :P
-
I love her, too, but I don't have any new CDs in the budget at the moment. Maybe after I go back full-time.
-
Love Taylor, love the new album! I think she's a really great songwriter. I sort of look up to her in that respect, which makes me feel ridiculous since I'm 8 years older than her. lol

I watched that video aswell! (But I think Colbie's vocals should have been turned up louder on the cd)
Got the album yesterday, I friggen LOVE it! Soooo good.
Favourites so far are White horse, Forever and Always, Hey Stephen (that mmmm thing is so catchy lol), Tell me Why and ahhh it's just so good!
-
^ you got it the first day it came out in Australia too! lol awesome!
-
Hey, if anyone could hook me up with an original copy of her first album (the limited edition with the dvd), I'd be really grateful!!
Please PM me! :)
