It is SLEDDING..

And we sled at the huge hill at the high school, which is where the glacier stopped.

Long Island is a glacial deposit as you may know ;D

'Sledding' ..... except in my hick town we never say sledding, we say sled. (ie: "hey, do you want to go sled?) dont' ask me why, that's just how people say it. it's not even a new york thing, it's just in my town.

sleddings fun, but i prefer snow tubing. aaaaaaah so much fun  :D

Sledding is when you go down a hill on a sled.
Tobogganing is when you go down a hill in a tuque.  8)

Seriously, tell me you're going tobogganing, and I'll wish you well and hope you don't crack your head on a rock or a tree or something.  It's much safer to wear a helmet anyway. :P

This is a toboggan - A long, narrow, runnerless sled constructed of thin boards curled upward at the front end.


And this is a sled - A light wooden frame on runners, used by children for coasting over snow or ice.
