I thought her & Randy were just gonna say yes as a joke & not actually give him a thing to go to Hollywood, but they actually gave it to him & everyone is really confused now. They've NEVER let a bad one through that I can remember.

I've been rooting for Mandisa since I saw her audition. She's been the only one that I have really liked so far. Of course there have been other good ones, but there hasn't been anyone that I have liked as much.

Oh guess who got booted from the show...the two black twins because of the crimes they committed & I guess they are recording anyways with a record company or something. I'm kinda glad cuz I didn't like them. They were too cocky LOL.

Ohh did you guys watch tonight? Remember that guy who got through & who came off really cocky...his name was RJ/Ronnie Norman? Well I sent him a message on myspace (a lot of the contestants have one) to say I remembered his name & really liked his voice & he sent me a message back & part of it was telling me to tell everyone that he's not really that cocky & that AI edited it pretty badly. He actually seems like a really cool guy.
Surprised he replied cuz he's been getting so many messages from his friends. I like him now. Definitely in my top 3 favorites so far. :)

I felt really bad for the girl who came back a second time because the judges liked her and she was very nervous. She was adorable but her singing was very slightly better the 2nd time. :?
Dang, next Tuesday is the last auditions' show and I haven't found someone to root for yet!

I felt bad too. And the only reason she even had to get on the plane was because the auditions weren't really in Austin because of Katrina so they had to fly her & all the others to SF, California... they weren't even in Austin. Yeah just a little info. the show left out. It's funny cuz the producers say they didn't think it'd be a big deal, but the show kept empathizing how they were in Austin. I think the producers are screwing with us more this season than ever.

I know...& someone from an AI group said they were in Austin cuz that's where she's from...then someone else said they think"Katrina Fallout" means that all the Katrina victims were taking up space in hotel rooms and stuff like that, so maybe they had to fly the contestants to SF, California. I'm more confused now lol oh well.

This is the point now where AI gets good because you can start to find people you like, etc. That's the fun part for me, laughing at people who are bad is only entertaining for so long :lol:.

I'm SOOO glad they kicked the two twins who got arrested off the show. I can't stand them. I wonder if we will still have to put up with watching them since they filmed that a while ago.

You guys are gonna love this. We are gonna have 5 hours of idol next week... next Tuesday is a 2 hour show where the 12 guys will sing, Wednesday is 2 hours where the 12 girls sing then Thursday is a one hour elimination show where 2 guys and 2 girls are going home.

I am glad Taylor made the top 24 too. I doubt America will be too kind to him due to his look, but he's got a pretty good voice.

A lot of people in the AI group on MySpace surprisingly love him cuz he's so different from everybody else, but really talented. I just hope everyone votes for him...this may be the first time i'm gonna vote on AI lol.

Oh & I really don't like Kellie Pickler...I probably would, but she said she never sung infront of a lot of people or something in her first audition & acted like this was her first major thing, but she won a pagent & sung infront of a lot of people in her hometown so she's had a ton of experience. That's the only reason I don't like her, cuz she kinda lied. I know way too much about Idol lol.

i'm not much for high pitched noises, but Sway was better than Pat in my opinion....and Smiles (name?) sang Shout pretty well, very entertaining i thought.

Patrick was pretty bad IMO plus he wasn't good looking enough to get votes. Sway was good because that song was very hard to do. It can make you look terrible if you're not a good singer.

Yeah I think the Shout performance was good too, it was really entertaining. I just don't think overall he should be the American Idol if we had to choose over Patrick is what I was trying to say.
But I agree with you about the girl who got voted off, I actually liked her, but then again with the whole Maxim thing coming out & her attitude last night, I'm not totally upset about it.

I don't know how anyone can not like her but I'm a bit biased. I find her irresistible. She's just too cute IMO.
I think that the people going home are Heather and Brenna but if one of them stays I wouldn't be surprised if Kinnik left. This week's girls were all choosing terrible songs except for Ayla, Kellie, and Melissa.

I think the guys are a lot better this year in general...the only girls I really like are Mandisa & Katharine. Maybe Ayla too. A lot of people on the myspace AI group can't stand Kellie either.
Gedeon really surprised me tonight & Chris...wow!!! He just made me forget everyone elses performance, it was amazing.

Hoey, normal food for them is probably very different from our normal. They're probably from very rural areas so it's going to take them time to adjust to the big city. They both seem very much like the Beverly Hillbillies.

I live an hour away from both of them...they can drive 20 minutes up the road and get to a chain food restaurant...such as Chili's, Ruby Tuesday's, Applebees...etc.
"Rural" doesn't mean it takes 5 hours to get there....

Alright, I finally caught up and saw all the shows from the 2 previous weeks!
Luckily, all my fav' girls are still there. And Carrie was there! yaaaaay!! :D
I don't see what the problem is with Kellie: she IS adorable. Period.
And now since I'm being lazy, I'm gonna copy and paste what I posted on my LJ: (warning, this is pretty long!)
I have a weird favorites choice this year: I'd say they fall into 2 categories.
1- the ones I like the most are:
- Katharine McPhee: she's part of the 1st group, being described as "good voice, likeable and everything". I just don't know why but I like her a lot, not the best vocals but there's something about her that definitely attracts me,
- Ayla Brown: better vocals than Katharine, she also falls in the same group. Great girl, I like her a lot too,
- Kellie Pickler: again, not the best vocalist but I have the same feeling as all the judges: you just gotta love this girl! She's so cute, adorable and fun,
- Melissa McGhee: now I don't remember her from the auditions, I think they didn't air hers. But I'm growing more and more fond of her each week, I don't know why. I like her unique voice and she has a good personality too,
2- now the 2nd group: I'd call them "the best vocalists but for some reason I like them less":
- Lisa Tucker: amazing voice, great personality but I don't know, I get a mixed feeling about her without being able to say why. Maybe she's too young? I don't know...
- Paris Bennett: I don't dig her voice that much but she's good. Kinda like the same feeling as Lisa with the youth thing,
- Mandisa: amazing voice as well. But I'm gonna be a Simon Cowell here: it's not just about the voice, a girl's gotta have the whole package as they say. But I can definitely see her doing something in the future if she doesn't win, great potential! She's not a fav' of mine but I had to put her name here and give her props.

The ones in the second pic. definitely don't look like her...it's from when she was the pageant in 2004. And I really wouldn't care, it's just that she didn't mention ANY thing about it on idol, it's like shouldn't she be proud of that & not try to hide it just to get votes? They had a bunch of others, but I guess you have to be a member to view them now.

Kinnik has got to go this week. I'm afraid the other one leaving might be Ayla or Melissa. I can live with Melissa going even though I kinda like her voice but I hope Ayla stays.
I agree with your shock over the Carrie comment but I think he just meant on the likability factor. I'm positive he didn't mean singing wise or else he's been taking hits on Paula's crackpipe.

Yeah it's just the thing that bugs me about her is not only the lieing, but she's playing the whole small town/dumb blonde act at the same time. The others are at least being real. And I mean, come on "I tried salman today" "mink?!" I seriously rolled my eyes on that. At least Carrie was real last season even tho she was from a small town.

However last night I turned on the TV and it was still on FOX from the last time I had it on and I heard "Broken"(by Seether & Amy Lee) and made me go o_O So I listened to him do the entire song and the dude did a really good job on it. And then Simon bitchslapped him because the show is "American Idol" and he wants pop music instead and said "Broken" was boring to him. pft, the dude actually had potential of being a good lil rockstar.
But like I said, I dont watch the show. *shrug*

Ayla was voted off!!!!!! I still can't believe it. When I saw it was down to her and Melissa (and even though I do like Melissa!), I was like "ok, Melissa's gone" and then I was wrong.

So that leaves, in order for me, Katharine, Kellie and Melissa as my favorites.
I just have a feeling about Katharine, I don't know, not the best singer in the competition as I said before but I sense a "thing" in her.
As for the guys, no surprise there, I'm glad Bucky made it against Gedeon.

Of all the guys Ace probably has the best voice but I don't think he's popular enough to win it all since AI is basically a popularity contest.
My final 4 is Taylor, Katharine, Kellie and Elliott in that order. I think Taylor will kill everybody on Stevie Wonder Night.

She's popular but I don't think her popularity will be enough because her voice isn't strong like Carrie. Her popularity will probably carry her into the top 4 but I think Taylor will take it because he's popular and can really sing and chooses songs that fit his voice. I think Katharine will be 2nd and could win because she has a great voice and could become popular as the show goes on. I've already seen her take a little bit from Kellie in the likability department. I guess living with her is helping her to be more cute.

Anyway, I'm very sad Melissa is gone, it's just not fair: she forgot the lyrics, so what? that doesn't make her a bad performer.
Out of the bottom 3 this week, I thought Ace was gonna go, he's not that good in my opinion but I guess his good looks keeps him in the competition.

The reason Melissa got voted off in my opinion was because of the lack of exposure. I mean, notice how KEVIN is still there. And I know you all love Kellie, but her ditzy act is getting sooo tiresome to watch. I could tell the judges were getting tired of it the night she performed too, even Ryan. I mean nobody can be that dumb, I don't care where your from.
I agree with you about Ace. I don't really dig his voice. He's definitely cute tho, I have to admit it lol.
Btw, did you guys see the Ace sign telling him to give her a hug for her birthday in the beginning? That was my friend Jennah I know from a Paula board I go to :) she won tickets through a celeb. charity auction I was like "I know her!" haha

Paula needs to stop saying "people love you" when contestants sing poorly because that fuels the popularity contest that is not based on vocal talent. Yes the American Idol needs to have "the whole package" yet there are maybe two or three contestants who I feel really do have it. And they probably won't make it to the top three because they aren't as "popular" as Harry Potter or Paris or even Taylor Hicks. People do love them, but they are loved for the wrong reasons. I didn't watch Idol last year because I hated the Fantasia season. I thought this year would be different, but it is not turning out to be so. This is probably going to be the very last Idol I watch. And that's too bad because this show used to be so good and it used to be about talent. I'm not so sure that Kelly would have won or even been in the top 2 if she were to compete now. The way people vote has changed since then.

About Paris, I have to agree with Nikki here: she obviously can sing but is lacking control (maybe due to her age?). Lisa was pretty average for me this week too.
I'm still a huge fan of Katharine and I might be rooting only for her from now on. But and, as odd the whole dumb thing with Kellie is getting (man, I'm sure she's not that dumb at all!), I still can't help but like her and it seems like she's getting stronger week after week.

I have to agree that Lisa didn't sing Because Of You well, despite the fact she has a great voice.
But I was VERY surprised to see Katharine in it because she obviously did the best performance this week.
The rest was pretty weak in my opinion.

Thank you, Steveau! We had a big discussion about that whole thing at the myidol forums, and we have come to the conclusion that voter turnout this week was low. This is what was mentioned there:
-1- Ryan didn't mention the number of votes cast on the show, so the number probably was not impressive.
-2- Many of the performances were bad so they probably didn't get many votes.
-3- Katherine did so well, and was told so, so many people may have figured she was safe without their votes.
-4- The producers of the show reserve the right to disqualify any votes they deem improperly cast; therefore, they may have (ab)used that power to cause a shakeup to discourage the low voter turnout.
Some of these points are conjectural, but they're all based on facts. I guess all we can do is vote for who we like, whether we think they need our votes or not. Regardless of who wins in the end, though, Katharine will always be my idol from this year. :D

Ace Young had an appearance on the UPN's Half and Half like a year ago...the rerun is on tonight, and I think it's funny. They called him "Ace" on the episode and he was sorta the focus of the episode.

Mandisa only had 2 bad weeks & has never been in the bottom 3 while Ace has been in the bottom 3 for a while & hasn't done that great so it was country week & MAYBE current hits week that did it for her. We know she's a great performer & has the most powerful voice so it doesn't make sense that she went home.
Btw, Shakira refused to help the contestants on current hits week, which is why most of them sucked, so I blame Shakira for that one :lol:

Bucky's singing just wasn't strong enough to blend in with the band this week, and Elliot had no dynamic in his performance; it was all sung at the same loud volume. Without a doubt, the top three this week were all told to sit down right at the beginning of Wednesday's show. Once that happened, I wasn't worried about the other five. Not this week.

See, I hated Paris too.. but she is just incredible live. She has an amazing stage presence & ah I just love her now.

Seeing that I did my stats final today, and because they tried to act like the votes were "so close", I calculated the percentages per their saying 50,000,000 votes were taken:
33.68% - 16,840,000
33.26% - 16,630,000
33.06% - 16,530,000

I think the show has gone down the tubes to be entirely honest. I lost interest this season for sure. I used to be absolutely and totally addicted from the very beginning but this season just hasn't been interesting, I really didn't see many people who stood out, and those who did - cough cough Chris... got the boot. They gotta find some better talent if they're gonna continue the show.

I would have felt the same way if Chris made the Finals. Guess it all depends on who you're rooting for. I really think Katharine had the highest number of votes last week because if she hadn't I think they would have told Taylor he was safe because I think everybody expected him to be in the Finals.

Yeah I called the final 3 as well about 9 weeks ago. I'm happy how it's played out so far. I feel that Kat is really good for her age and has a better vocal talent. She will get better with time. Damn! Taylor has such charisma consistently week after week. Such a great entertainer!!! You can tell he is a great guy and so much fun. America loves him for who he is.
Taylor has it made in the bag regardless of the the votes from idol.
He is one of his own.
They shouldn't force Kat to have her 1st single be the one that isn't all that. Even the judges said the song wasn't as good as she is. The song almost seems too low for her. She has great range but why not have her sing a SONG THAT focuses on the stronger part of her voice? The song was not her personality at all.

It's like comparing two opposites. It's hard to compare them together.

I'm voting for Katharine but I thought they gave her a terrible song for her voice. Taylor got a bad one too but at least it left him room for some improvising whereas Katharine really couldn't do anything with hers the way it was written. They should have done what they did the first season and made them sing one common song because you can't judge them on different songs. That just isn't fair.

We had training today and before we got into it we did this exercise where the instructor would give you two choices and you moved to the side of the room so say, Email or snail mail. For the last one she says Katherine Taylor. And I am like who is Katherine Taylor? She meant American Idol I was like whaaaaa? I don't watch that show. Those people can't sing. Haha. I know you people do like them and the show so yay for you. Everytime I flipped the channel I would have to change it cause those people were horrible. Thought it was funny and would share.

I thought tonight was the best finale ever for American Idol!!! Prince?!?!?! B/A!!!!! I'm happy w/ the results even though Tiff and I got 147 votes for Katherine last last night. It's all good.

I actually thought last year's show was better because Carrie with Rascal Flatts and Bo with his group (I forgot their name) was better than Meatloaf and Toni Braxton. The surprise Prince act was cool if you like him but I don't really like him aside from the Purple Rain album.
I thought the best part of the show was the Wolfgang Puck with Kellie segments. I just love that girl!

Hey can you do me a favor... when you watch it back can you see if you notice anything different about the judges? Some friends of mine saw Corey Clark outside of the kodak & totally cussed him out... lol.
Im surprised Paula didnt like freak out when the camera was on cuz my friends said off camera she was REALLY pissed & Simon & Randy were a little irked too, which is not like them at all.
