I was laughing my ass off at Simon, Randy, Paula, and Gene's reactions more than anything. Simon just sat there like (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/keithrj997/none.gif) during most of it. It was funny when he kept telling Simon to be crunk and to put Jesus first, lol.

Me and my family are Chris Wylde fans. He was on Trading Spaces and hosted Taboo. He's been on documentary sort of shows. He was payed to do that. He was funny, though!

So I'm finally able to watch the show.
I've seen the season premiere and I'm currently watching the 2nd episode.
So far, my favorite would be that "girl next door", hmm, what's her name again? Carrie, yes, that's it!
She really has a nice voice, I see her going to the top 12. ;)

I disagree, I thought she was a step below mediocre. It's a chance she can be a wildcard and that just makes me want to throw things at my TV. I hope they don't pick a 16 or 17-year-old to win, the young ones from Idol don't do very well, just look at Diana DeGarmo's record sales. Have you heard anything from Jasmine Trias?

with the way the format is this year, i don't think they'll have the wild card...over the next few weeks, the 24 will be cut down to the final 12...
i think the only youngin' that made it is Makayla...she's really good, but not my choice to win....the guys this year are really good, Anwar for example...he should go far in the competition.

I noticed that, too. Anwar is good, so is David Brown. I've liked Scott Savol ever since the first time I saw his audition.
As for the girls I probably will be pulling for Amanda and Carrie most, but Vonzell is also up there.

Almost all the girls did poorly last night, imo.
How the fuck could they praise Mikayla? She talked half the time, she didn't sing, and her voice was off when she did!! This was her worst performance thus far, and I'm with Simon about the amusing/annoying thing. She is so fucking obnoxious.

Janay Castine was terrible, and she didnt look right singing last night....she was very stiff...i'd say she's one of the girls going home
and this Melinda girl. Randy says she's the best vocalist...to be honest, I think last night was the first time i've seen her in this competition, and I was NOT impressed at all....but I think she'll be around for another week.

Oh Brian, don't tell me this show still surprises you. Janay pulled a Jasmine Trias (by almsot crying after she performed) and got what we cynics call "the sympathy vote." Voters felt sorry for Janay because she was so nervous and thought she deserved a second chance. This happened in AI3 when Jasmine had case of the shakes and bombed horribly. She starting weeping after Simon ripped into her. She got the sympathy vote and LaToya was booted the next night.

Bo knows how to choose songs that make his voice sound good. I thought Nikko was great this week too. It's all about song choice at this point. I think Bo will struggle when they get to the themed nights like showtunes though.

I just caught up on the latest episodes and we're up to 8 girls and 8 guys left from the final 12 girls and final 12 guys.
I'm still rooting for Carrie Underwood: I'm sure she's gonna go far in the competition! I think the judges were harsh with her this week: her rendition of the Janis Joplin song wasn't that bad in my opinion. She had more stage presence and felt more comfy than usual last night:

As for the guys, I like Anwar and Mario who are really good singers. Constantine is cool but kinda overrated I think (because of the rocker/cute guy thingy).

Personally I think the judges didn't consider the fact that Carrie OBVIOUSLY sang the Faith Hill rendition of the song and not the Janis Joplin version. That being said, she did that version justice. She was trying to imitate Faith rather than Janis.

Everyone was very good tonight. I'm thinking that the two to go might be Travis and Scott (even though I'd rather have Anthony go, because I like Scott). At this point Anwar and Nikko are locks to make the top 12, and Bo most likely is too. Mario and Constintine are pretty much there, too... so that leaves the other 3 guys vying for one spot :?.

honestly, i dont think anyone should be surprised about Constantine...they've been pushing him, giving him the TV time (and i don't give a shit what Simon says, TV time does matter on this show)
I doubt Federove will last as long as Clay did...he's not nearly half as good as Clay (in my opinion) :D

I realize they're pushing him but he's still a very average singer. His vocals have been very weak in my opinion. His performance last week was his best in my mind.

Carrie is from my home state, Oklahoma. Everyone here is routing for her, but I hate country music, so I dunno...she def. has that countryish sound going on.

LOS ANGELES - "American Idol" finalist Mario Vazquez, citing "personal issues," withdrew from the talent competition Sunday, and producers of the Fox show called in the son of a baseball Hall of Famer as backup.
Fox bumped Nikko Smith, the son of baseball great Ozzie Smith, into Vazquez's spot because Smith got more votes than Travis Tucker when both were voted off Wednesday, the network said.
Now, viewers of the No. 1-rated series will get a chance to reconsider their votes as Smith and the other 11 finalists perform Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST. The show airs live to the East Coast and is tape-delayed on the West Coast.
Vazquez, 27, had been picked by many fans and three fellow finalists as a favorite to win the competition.
He told TV Guide's Web site that he dropped out to "take care of some personal issues with my family in New York. And with `Idol' being a live show, it just wouldn't have worked out schedule-wise."
Vazquez said his departure had nothing to do with Fox or the show itself.
"It's just a personal family thing," he told the Web site. "My family is my top priority."
Smith, 22, of St. Louis, said in an interview before Sunday's announcement that he wasn't surprised to have been voted off.
"I wasn't as disappointed as people thought I would be because I've made it so far," he told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I'm happy to get all that exposure. Millions and millions of people watch the show, and hopefully somebody saw me and liked what they saw."
Following Fox's announcement, a relative of Smith told the Post-Dispatch the family had been asked not to speak about his callback. Smith was not available for comment.
Vazquez is not the first to leave "Idol" unexpectedly, though few have done so willingly. Last year, George Huff was called back to Los Angeles when contestant Donnie Williams was cited for DUI. And in 2003, three contestants were dropped by Fox, two for failing to disclose arrest records and another for posing on an adult-oriented Web site.

It seems like every time I watch this show, after the performances I like, the judges completely diss them...and after the performances I think are hideously awful, they're like, "Yeah! You're a superstar!!" What the hell? It's frustrating.
I think the girl with the fro should win. Nadia, is it? Yeah. She's the most entertaining and I like her voice. And the judges actually agree!! :D

I think the sound in the studio is different from the sound coming from the T.V. I noticed the judges hearing a completely different performance from the one I hear at home.

mikalah and federov are on my list to go. he's boring and when she sings i cannot understand a word she is saying. and usually i like nadia, but last night was kind of weak in my opinion- that song didn't really show her talent at all, but i liked that the song was sped up a little from the original. i love cindy lauper but i don't think it was the right choice for her.
bo bice is AWESOME and i love him and we are going to have babies together. anwar is also invited ;-)

Nadia was bad to me because she screwed up the words in the beginning. That song was totally wrong for her voice. She was good the last 3 weeks but this week was weak for what I expect from her.
Bo has been the best because he always chooses a song that best showcases his voice.
I'm not a huge fan of country music either but Carrie has the best voice in the show. If she could only choose songs the way Bo does she'd walk away with it.

Anthony was still the worst....
Anwar had a bad night I think...so did Scott. Both are normally great, just off this week.
Best of the night again goes to Carrie.
Nadia was a helluva lot better this week. I thought she did a really good job with that song.
Jessica was just okay. She's usually better.
Nikko was good as he has been.
Bo wasn't as good as usual, but still a good performance.
Constantine showed us some his best I feel. Definately his better performance.
Vonzell closed out the show perfectly.

Scott didn't fair terribly well, Anwar started poorly and saved himself with the end notes as he tends to do... I felt that Anthony was almost over-singing, but he was alright. I think unfortunately this week it is Scott's turn to go home.

His background came out yesterday or the day before... They were arguing about something (about their son I think) and he pushed her and threw a phone at her so hard it broke. He ended up going to jail for 20 days, having to take anger management and was on probation, PLUS his woman and their son got a restraining order.

You know what's interesting & probably why he didn't get voted off this week. I'm gonna quote someone in an AI thread on their official forum cuz I completely agree with this:
Scott's past violent history appearing in the news this week would have surely have swayed previous Scott voters to refrain from voting for him. And Scott was already pretty low on the AI totem pole. AI producers publicly backed Scott saying that his prior misdemeanor did not warrant his disqualification. Scott losing this week would have been a slap to the face of AI's decision.
So yeah Nikko was AWESOME last night & did not deserve to be voted off.

carrie has the 'look' of a star which is getting her a lot of votes but i think she needs to leave vocal arrangements to either the original creator of the song or someone else because what she "changed" in love is a battlefield i was not a big fan of.

As a huge Kelly fan, I can't imagine why Simon would think Carrie was better--or more appealing. I think Carrie's voice is great, but Kelly's...WOW. It's special.

What was Simon's point (and i tend to agree with him) is given the right promotion and song selection Carrie could sell *more* albums then Kelly. There is a very big difference between how an artist like Kelly is promoted vs JLo/Britney. The JLo/Britney songs are catchier, they take all the right strategic movements at the appropriate times and i think Carrie's face and attitude may put her a smidge above Kelly.
Also, because you're a huge kelly fan, don't you think that maybe it is hard for you to be a bit objective? :)

I love Gavin Degraw/One Tree Hill & I think Bo did a great job. I was really surprised when he started singing the song tho but still loved it. Vonzell did awesome, I haven't heard that song in forever.

Yeah I didn't like Constantine's performance & usually I do but lately I've been liking Bo a lot more.
I think the bottom 3 is gonna be Constantine, Scott & Anthony. My guess is also that Scott will go. I can tell the judges really don't like him especially lately, lol.

Carrie was a great performer last night but as far as vocals go I thought she did pretty bad.
I hate the Dancing with my Father song, too. Scott needs to go.

I don't like Scott or Anthony any more than anyone else does. I was suprised that Scott wasn't in the bottom 3, and as I said in my post yesterday I thought he'd be the one to go.
I guess I just think about it as Constantine was the weakest one this week and people actually voted on the week's performances and not personal preference, an overall evaluation of all the performances, etc. which amused me.
Honestly, Constantine was a real threat to win in that while he isn't the best vocalist, he has a large fanbase... that is moreso why I was pleased, because I doubt that Anthony or Scott will even make it down to the final 3, thus thinning out the competition to the best vocalists.

i dont think either of them will...looks like one of them will definately be going. i've been going on and on all season about how much I can't stand Federov, and why is he still there, and what-not, but honestly, the other who were voted off first, including last night, I didn't have winning this competition. Carrie should and probably will, take it. If she doesn't then Bo wins it, and I'm still happy :)

I haven't tried to vot more than a couple of times but I never get through. The people I vote for are gone for the most part. It's not the same as it used to be as far as the voting process. I used to get in half the time during the 1st and 2nd season. I really don't bother anymore. I just watch the show.

Bo's "past" came out, he was busted for cocaine use awhile back and had to go through rehab. Scott's little thing with his girlfriend didn't seem to hurt him, so hopefully this won't do anything to Bo's chances... :(

I've only voted for 2 people this season: Carrie and Lindsay. I voted 5 times for Lindsay the week she was voted out and I vote for Carrie 5 times every week I don't forget to call within the 2 hour window.

i don't think Bo has really had a bad week at all. i'm not counting that crappy showtoon week...everyone sucked then.
why I think Bo and Carrie are doing so well is b/c the format has changed to the show. They used to have to pic specific songs, not just from a time period, but also one artist. This year they pretty much pick a year, and they get to pick whatever song they want. Carrie picks country, b/c that is what she is good at, Bo picks rock songs, b/c that is what he is good at.
It'll come down to these two in the finals, and I'll be happy if either one wins

Anyway, I finally saw this week's performances and here are my comments:
- Carrie's performance was good, I didn't dig the song she picked that much though,
- Bo did a good job as well,
- I thought Scott and Constantine were pretty bad this week: vocally they weren't there,
- I'm not sure about Anthony: it's not that it was bad but I didn't find his rendition of the Celine Dion's song good, it was just below average (and the high note was dreadful!),
- Vonzell did good.
Now my best guess for the finals is Carrie vs Vonzell. Or Carrie vs Bo.
ps: I didn't think Constantine would have been voted off this week. But Scott and Anthony have to go, seriously.

I had a feeling that song would be done by someone, but wow being a huge Backstreet fan for 9 years I really disliked his version a lot. :icky: I liked Bo's performances tho. I hate to say it but I think I liked his better then Carries. I still love Carrie, but at the same time I think it'd be cool for a "rocker" to win this time. Just my two cents 8)

Carrie was good all around. She was the best of the group in the country obviously. I didn't think her Philly was as God awful as they said. The problem with the 2nd song was that it's so associated with a male singer that it sounded kind of awkward but she changed it up for herself.

Vonzell was horrid in the country and pulled a Fantasia with the tears for sympathy. I'm surprised she didn't bring a kid on stage. :thumbsdown: Her 2nd song was weak too considering that was her kind of genre. I think she should be going home this week.

About Vonzell crying, I'm not sure what to think:
- either she was too stressed and kind of cracked under the pressure of the final week arriving or something bad happened to her or someone she knows the same day and, in that case, I totally understand,
- or (and I hope it's not that) they were vote-for-me-tears (aka sympathy/pity tears) and if that's it, that's really not fair play for the other contestants. I really doubt it though.
Anyway, can't wait for the result show tomorrow, I know who I want voted off :P

Well if she had a bad day why wasn't she so upset when the judges liked her? She wasn't emotional at all after the second song. I don't think her day got better in the break between songs.

They're just delaying the inevitable. Most of us knew it would be Carrie and Bo in the final 2 from week 1. I can't say either don't deserve to win so I can accept whatever happens then. I know, everyone seems to love him or hate him it seems. I know so many people that adore him but also a bunch of ppl who absolutely hate the guy. I suppose most people were either a Constantine fan or a Bo fan... which is sorta silly but true.

Vonzell sang Chain of Fools really, REALLY well. Her first song was good, but the last one I just wasn't really feeling.
Carrie... She did well the first song, but TOTALLY blew the last note; her Air Supply was excellent, and then I thought the Shania Twain was teh suck. She couldn't hit the low notes to save her life and then overcompensated for the shitty verse with an overzealous chorus.
Bo's a cappella, though... 8O

I have yet to see most of tonight's episode, including Bo's a capella performance, however I DID catch the judges' reaction to it and the tiny clip at the end. I think it was a cool idea to perform sans backup music.
I have a feeling Vonzell will end up in 3rd place, although she's my favorite of the 3. :( We'll see!

Carrie did great on "Crying" I thought it would be a tough song for her but she did great. Not many people can hit that big note at the end so I understand why she didn't try. Her 2nd song was very good too. The last song was a bad song for her voice but she did okay.
Vonzell had 3 weak performances in my opinion and it sounded like there was something wrong with her voice on the last song to me. That song was perfect for her voice but she didn't do it as well as I expected.
Congratulations to Carrie and Bo for making the final 2. As much as I like Carrie, after tonight I think Bo deserves to win.

Bo is a good singer but I just don't see him becoming an American Idol, I don't know...I'm not even worried for him, he'll get a record deal no matter what happens.
I'm still rooting for Carrie!!! SHE will make it!!! People vote for her please!! (because I can't... :cry: )

I decided I want Carrie to win because I don't want Bo to be shafted with a shitty record deal that says Simon Cowell owns him.

Bo's first song - decent, but not his best
Carrie's first song - excellent
Bo's second song - excellent
Carrie's second song - perfect vocals, extremely excellent
Bo's third song - as good as Carrie's version
Carrie's third song - best performance of the night
it's still a toss up. it's going to be very very close i think.

I hardly watched... I used to adore Idol, not too fond of it this season. As far as I saw, Carrie should win, but Bo probably will... just cuz I don't want him to. haha

This is tough. I had been fast forwarding through the past few weeks, but I actually made myself sit there and watch the entire show tonight so I could discuss, lol.
It almost goes back to the old "someone who is going to be good now" versus "0o0o0o0o0o0 potential!" debate. Bo is the better singer right now (despite the fact Carrie has a better vocal range) in that Bo has more exeprience, and is more consistent when hitting his notes. However, Carrie shows many flashes of being the shiznat down the line. She is good now, and the more she sings the better she will get with hitting a lot of the notes that she tries to hit now that don't sound all that great. Plus, if you think about a studio voice where they can clean up vocals, etc. Carrie would blow Bo away because she has the expanded vocal range, as to where Bo tends to sing in one tone (although I was impressed he hit the nice note in the last song).
The only thing that works against Carrie is she seems to have one of those voices people either love or hate. Whatever happens, the person who wins will be deserving, yet there will always be controversy. I suppose we'd rather it be this than Anthony versus Scott or something that would make everyone go 0_o!
... oh, and while my sneeking suspicion is that Bo may win, I think I will root for Carrie.

I agree that Bo is WAY better as far as stage presence goes. Carrie isn't a good dancer and tends to just stand there and sing. Bo has been singing professionally so that should be expected. I think Carrie has a better voice than Bo especially last night because Bo seemed to not perform the way he has up until yesterday. It almost seemed like he intentionally didn't do well. If he had sang the way he did before he would have walked away with it but he let Carrie get back into it.

it was a great finale tonight. very cool to see all the artists on stage singing Sweet Home Alabama.
in the opening number, the 10 finalists who got booted sang some songs, but i swear i didn't see Anwar there. there was a guy that had short hair that looked like Anwar, so i thought it was him, but then when he sang later on, his hair was long again.
and when David Hasselhoff came out there I was ROFL that was just hilarious
anyways...
I'm very happy with the results. :D

I also like the "Angels Brought Me Here" better but I think Inside Your Heaven is decent too. I'm sure they'll both be released by her eventually though.
Congratulations Carrie! I thought she deserved to win this after doing so well yesterday. I also really think Bo intentionally lost by not trying as hard since Clive Davis wanted to produce an album for him. They'll both be very successful so it's all good.
