Hehe, I want to re-record the vocals, but if you guys really want to hear it I guess I'll just put it on rapidshare or something... I think more people would listen to it if it were streaming though.

NOTICE: Umm the beginning vocals are pretty screwed so I wanna go back and change that, but I really don't have any time at the moment, haha.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING ABOUT HOM!!!

I think the weirdest line is "cargo across the sea." She IS, saying that, right? To me, cargo kinda implies that they snuck on to a ship together...

Ingrid michaelson also got so much popular and she's not a dance/club pop artist.

Uh... who?

She sang the song from the Old Navy sweater commercial. "If you are chilly/Here take my sweater?"

http://rapidshare.com/files/91946160/Andy_-__Put_Your__Hands_On_Me.mp3.html

It should be uploaded soon; if it isn't, wait a while!

Me and my friend are having a competition, and Hands On Me is one of the songs we're doing. I play the piano and sing too, and yes I know there's a mistake in the bridge. Please leave any comments!

Um, some tech. difficulties... if I ever have it uploaded to anywhere, I will post it!

NOTICE: Vocals to be re-recorded. Leave crappy comments if you wish, I don't care about this, it's more of a test run, really.

Other Musicians / Alicia Keys
« on: February 04, 2008, 12:41:52 am »
I think that Alicia and Vanessa's only similarity is that they seem to be based on piano. Other than that...

I'd have to say that both of them are pretty accomplished musicians. "No One" really grew on me, and now I have all three of her CD's. They all seem pretty good, even though I haven't had a time to sit down and seriously listen to the first two.

Any thoughts?

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / What singles would YOU release?
« on: September 28, 2007, 08:02:33 pm »
1. Nolita Fairytale
2. Hands On Me
3. This Time (overproduce it first)
4. Home (snip the last minute)

Nolita really sets the mood for the entire album. Hands On Me is rather reminiscent of the old BNN minor key songs (when I played the intro my friend said it wa sreally dperessing), but still upbeat, catchy and polished enough to get anywhere. With a little more additions This Time would do pretty well in my opinion, and Home would definitely close the singles providing the outro is cut out.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / It's leaked

On first listen, this actually didn't blow me away like I thought it would. However, after a couple more repeats, I really began to start loving the album as a whole and not just picking on individual songs like I did with the last two. In my opinion, if Be Not Nobody was a rusty old penny and Harmonium a shiny piece of gold, Heroes and Thieves would have to be like a sparkling diamond. No longer do I have to stop paying attention when the songs in major keys are over; now I can really appreciate an entire album as a whole. All the production is pretty amazing too, much more interesting to listen to than all the acoustic sadness.

PS: I hope I'm not the only one that thinks My Best is the birthchild of Best Behaviour. Their subject matters are pretty similar and it's a bit of a stretch but there is a bit of recycled melody in there.

:o No Nolita Fairytale performance, but HQ audio of Home?!!!

EDIT: http://www.badongo.com/file/3909473

Audio rip of Home; we have Hands On Me at the US Open which uses, oh, a REAL piano and I'm sure that everyone here's heard A Thousand Miles a thousand times. ;)

I bet she picked a really sad grand piano to destroy, like a Hoffman and Kuhne; they're only around 7-11 grand. :P
