NEW YORK (AP) — Vanessa Carlton, Ryan Miller of Guster and The Naked Brothers Band plan to take part in a Beatles ukulele festival. The Beatles Complete On Ukulele Festival will be December 6 in New York. The entire Beatles catalog will be covered that day on ukulele. Anyone who shows up early with a ukulele will get free admission and a place in the uke ensemble that will open the show with two as-yet-unrevealed Beatles songs. Sixteen Yoko Ono impersonators will be on hand because the organizers decided as a joke to donate proceeds to Ono. Last year's festival benefited Warren Buffett.

This sounds interesting.
Thanks for posting.

LOL, keep the F bombs at bay this time, Vanessa! ;)

Ooh, Vanessa will be amazing on "The Long and Winding Road".
-
Wow I really hope there will be some vids of this!! I love She's Leaving Home!
-
wish it didn't 21+ at 6 pm ):
-
Hmmm, I would go since I'm in the city but they say doors open at 12 pm. It means I have to stay the whole day there to be near the front to actually be able to see Vanessa for 2 songs? :-\
-
ukulele? I wonder how much one of those cost. Not that I'm going to be able to go anyway.
I don't understand why people always want to be so close to the stage all the time. But that is just me. I'd rather be in the back near the bar with the cool people. Hopelessly alcoholic, but cool. ;)

Front row is the best, dude!! ;D
-
i agree! near the bar is GOOD! especially for vanessa carlton...she sits at a piano the whole time..its not like its a band ya know?
ive done both, front, back, whatever..it all sounds like same.
-
Maybe this is a stupid question, but I'm kinda confused...is Vanessa going to be playing a ukulele?

I hope so.
She can play guitar a little, and said she's gonna be using the guitar on the new record a lot. Are the guitar chords the same for the ukulele? I think so? And those Beatles songs aren't really hard to play, so...I hope she does. :)

Guys, it seems like it was a misunderstanding: I just got confirmation that Vanessa will not be playing at this event!

PRODUCER ATTEMPTS BEATLES UKULELE RECORD
Music producer ROGER GREENAWALT will attempt to break the world record of continued ukulele playing in New York on Sunday (6Dec09) as part of a quirky BEATLES marathon.
Greenawalt has organised the second annual Beatles Complete on Ukulele Festival and is expecting over 100 singers and musicians to take part in the 13-hour event at the Brooklyn Bowl - but he has a very special reason to be there.
He will be playing ukulele Beatles hits onstage throughout the festival - and feels sure he will be able to score a handful of world records.
Greenaway will be joined by children's TV stars the Naked Brothers and rockers Guster. A scheduling conflict has prompted the event's big name, Vanessa Carlton, to pull out.
More than 16 Yoko Ono impersonators will be on hand to perform throughout the day. John Lennon's widow will be the beneficiary for the event and she plans to donate the money raised to charity.

I was looking forward to seeing this as well..

So it seems this event was not clear. I love how V's people don't tell us anything. Luckily, we have each other to find and figure stuff out which is great but at the same time, sad.
Here's hoping 2010 will be better with information to us.
Thanks.

I follow one of the ladies from DoOL and she just tweeted that V is performing at the Trevor Project Charity Event at The Wiltern in LA right now.
-
damn. im right down the street too..
-
Yeah it sucks that V's peeps dont let us know about this stuff... It would really be nice if she went on her twitter once and awhile too. Maybe for Christmas?
I wonder how the ukelele festival went yesterday...
-
she wasn't apart of the festival after all, she had to back out because of scheduling conflicts(probably because of this la show @ the wiltern yesterday). wish it was annouced i would have made an effort to show up.
but i do wonder how it went regardless of her being there.....i checked youtube n' couldn't find anything.
-
damn, sucks..wish i could have gone.

Oh wow, The Trevor Project! I'm pretty impressed to hear V's performing for a good cause (not to mention all the other stars and guests who attended though Jeff Probst seems kinda random).
Did anyone go to the show or know what she performed?
-
One of the songs was "Who's To Say":
