probably not, there weren't any on VCMB
but it's worth a try eh?
Amanda (your numba 1 trumpet player)
-
yup, i used to play... haven't played for about 3 years tho
still have my trumpet tho :)
-
woah! that's awesome!
yeah, ihave two.
i'm going to be marching freshmen year so that'll be fun.
yep.
trumpet kiss some major ass
-
It isn't my primary instrument, but I'm decent.
It's all about the five rotory valve C tubas with modern orchestral parts. ;)
-
five? wow. i thought tubas were only made with three or four. this is new

Yeah... they are kinda rare and expensive. I guess I'm gloating because the school just bought one and I get to use it. :D
It is also in C, unlike most tubas that are in Bb, but most tuba players don't know that. The fingerings they are taught are already transposed.
-
yeah, i know what ya mean.
i think bach makes the best brass instruments. what about you?
Amanda

Color me a Yamaha man. I mean, especially in trumpets. The Xeno series is awesome.
Also, their s80 and s90 keyboards are awesome. Their uprights sound like grands. Their grands, however, sound like crap. Kinda funny how their uprights sound better than their grands.
-
btw, why 5? i know 4 is used to replace the 1/3 combonation, but what is the 5th valve used for?
-
you've got to be kidding me! Yamaha!!
that brand is the worst!
their valves suck so bad
bach stradivarious is the best for trumpets. it's the elite of the elite
come on, no way
-
The fifth is a 23 replacement. Haven't really used it yet. Probably slightly sharper, because 23 is generally flat in the lower registers. The partials get so small as you go higher, so alternate fingerings up there are pointless.
Little known fact: Before there were valved brass instruments, trumpet parts were played with trumpets in the range of tubas. They played them so high, however, that the partials were close enough to be able to play scales. They were also incredibly difficult to play.

That is if you get cheap Yamaha schtuff. That is crap. The higher end stuff is pretty shweet.
Yeah, Bach makes some good trumpets. But, I haven't had much experience with them, so I can't really talk about them all that much.
My trumpet, however, is a 50 year old King. Still plays great after all those years, but I have had some work done on it.
-
well, i think there should be another valve on trumpet for the 1 combo.
that note is always really flat.
i konw they make 4 valved trumpets, but i've only seen them on picolo trumpets
those things are awesome
i have one that i use in symphonic band.
it kind of defetes the purpose of builing your chops, but i don't use that in jazz band so it all good
-
yeah, strad. is the ultimate best. their valves last forever, literally
king sux i think. at least there student models do. so does yamaha's student models. bach's students are awesome too
i have a tr 300 bach and a 37 stradivarious.
i seriously suggest trying strad. you'll be impressed with the tone quallity and the speed of the valves. it's awesome

1 is a combo? :P

I have seen them on Eb and F trumpets as well as piccolos. I have been meaning to get a piccolo, but it would be kinda pointless because I don't play trumpet that much.
I also want to get a rotory valve trumpet. Think of the speed of those suckas. I'm spoiled with rotories on my tuba and my french horn.
-
you know what i meant :?
-
you know what i meant :?
Of course. Just giving you a hard time. :P
-
i know :D
-
So, you play any other instruments?
-
i tought myself piano
i can play all of Nessa's songs
but believe me, bass cleff is hella hard for me. lol
but i think i have it down now
i'm going to take piano lessons this summer
-
Trumpet? *scoff*
It's all about the trombone. ;)
-
trombone is ok, but the trumpet is just overall better.
much more lively
-
Trombone? Phht. That's for losers that have perfect pitch.

lol, yeah. what he said
-
I'm a proud trombone player since the age of 12. My best friend plays trumpet. Not my favorite instrument. I'm more a fan of the french horn.
-
yup, i used to play... haven't played for about 3 years tho
still have my trumpet tho :)
Same here... I havent played it for nearly 5 years tho... I got it out from under my bed the other day to attempt playing it, but I don't even remember how to read music, hah.
-
I played the baritone for 6 years. Marched for 4. I loved it!
I agree that the french horn is pretty cool! That would be my fave brass instrument.
-
ekhem.
this is a trumpet thread. no trombones! no french horns!
i j/k with ya.
i love brass.
rock on fellow brass peeps :D
Amanda
-
Ahem.
it's all about strings
violas in particular .. Yayeeeee
-
no way. brass is dah bomb.
DUH!!!!!
-
:x
and that's all i have to say about that.
-
Well, I loved playing brass and am glad that I did. But I ain't gonna lie I would LOVE to be able to play the cello! 8)
-
grrrrrrr.
no no no no!!!
this is a trumpet/brass thread only!!!!
but, i will have to admit, bass would be pretty f**ck'n awesome 8)
lol
-
or viola
viola is realllly coool
but i would love to learn cello.. also
violin is soo-soo. i play a little violin.
doesnt really do anything for me
-
yeah, i have alot of respect for the bass. since it's played in my jazz band, it's sort of the heart of the rythm section and keeps the band in time.
other wise, strings are too twangy and are always out of tune,
i'm a full time band geek :P
-
i prefer strings
over band anyday.
idk its just my style lol
i think strings sound soo beautiful :)
(if the person plays well)
-
