Title: The Fray
Post by: jessicaweiser on September 26, 2005, 07:18:21 am
One of my favorites... lead singer's voice similar to the lead singer of Switchfoot... but I think they are better. The single kicks ass...

i think he kind of sounds like Chris Martin, from Coldplay

they played at my college last night and were amaaazing. they're really nice guys and were very enjoyable to work with. i got to talk to the lead singer for a quick minute...it's a funny story - my friends were looking at one of their posters in the hallway and were talking about how they thought he was cute and didn't realize he was standing right behind them the entire time, and then left :-P when i told them he was behind them they were so embarassed! So when i saw him later walking around backstage, I told him they were embarassed and he was just like "yeah that was funny." haha so i talked to him for about two seconds but he was really nice. his face was beet red when my friends were talking about how hot he was, it was so cute.

anyways, i bought their cd and am in love with it. i really want to see them in schenectady but it's sold out! oh well.

my favorite songs on the cd are:

She Is
Cable Car
Little House
Look After You
How To Save A Life
Fall Away
Heaven Forbid

At the moment HTSAL is my favorite favorite out of those, but it tends to change everytime i listen to the cd :-P

Wow! People have heard of the Fray!! Awesome. I've known them since October/November 2004, when they were just another local band in Denver. If any of you has the cd, you'll notice they thank 93.3 KTCL listeners, who got them signed.

I'm one of those jerks who... doesn't tend to like music that they play on the radio.  I don't mean it in the sense that I'm not happy for them because I surely am.  They deserve it oh so much... I just like small venues and intimate shows which isn't nearly as possible once they get big.  Oh well.  Cheers to them!

i totally understand what you're saying.  it's like when you dig a band or musician and wish other people would get into their music aswell...but then when they're international superstars it's kind of annoying that everyone likes them...like everyone is on the same bandwagon. i dont know if im explaining that right...but i know what you're saying.

Yeah that's kinda how I feel.  I'm happy for their success but it's always more fun when not EVERYONE is into them.

Post by: aleera84 on July 23, 2006, 04:00:08 pm
I feel the same.

I got into them a while back and me living in Aus I thought hardly anyone would know them so I enjoyed that for a while until one day my sister had the radio on and 'over my head' came on, i was like "oh i know this song.... awwww CRAP!" when I realised it was The Fray.
But its good they are getting more air play over here  :D
I brought their CD of ebay and its amazing, havnt gotten sick of it yet which is great.

Oh just looked on our chart and they entered it at number 32  :?

I've been in love with "Over My Head (Cable Car)" for a couple of weeks now, but I kind of assumed it would be one of those "one hit wonder" songs that I'd love for a while and then never think of again.
But...

I just listened through "How To Save A Life" (the album) for the first time. I absolutely LOVE it! There's something about piano... I guess that's why I'm a Nessa fan to begin with.
I can't get over how good this band is!
I'm not gonna say that they sounds like Vanessa, but the songs are written in the same amazing way where you can just connect to them.

xoxo Sarah

sooo I finally got to see them live tonight, after waiting almost 2 years.  They were absolutely amazing!  I was extremely impressed with their live performance.  Not to mention they jokingly did a cover of "Dance Like This" by Shakira and it was absolutely hilarious.  Mae opened for them and I loved them as well (of course, they're my favorite band), though it was my... 5th time seeing them live.  They played some new songs so that was cool.  The Fray did as well.  Great show.  Ok Go also played, don't really care for them too much.

i saw them last night too.. and yeah, i loved when they did "hips don't lie," that was probably my favorite part of their performance. the drummer ben was so funny. i still can't really believe they're headlining though.. i remember being really excited about them being the free download of the week like a year ago on itunes. haha. but my favorite part of the night was meeting mae for the first time.. they're so nice. i wish they could have played longer though.. i really thought ok go should have played before them. but anyway, the fray was fantastic, i'd definitely go see another one of their shows this summer.

You actually probably saw more than Jess or I did, even though we were at the foot of the stage.  the stage was very high up and the wall was the same height as Jessica, and when the crew set up for The Fray they were so spread out we could barely see anything until Hips Don't Lie when they had to be a foot away from us for us to get a descent look.  The speaker Ben stood up on at the end was right in front of us and blocked our view of the piano completely.  Jess did her thing though and shoved her camera in front of people and took pictures anyway.  That's why we heart her!

I feel as though because I am 4' 10", it is my right to push people more fortunate than I out of my way so that I can too can get photographic evidence of my life experiences. And if it happens to be snotty little brats that I push at a Fray concert, then so be it.

I just got back from seeing them in London and they were amazing! I took some video of How to Save a Life and Little House which was really good quality except for random silent bits, which really sucks :( They played a couple of new songs that were good :)

They were supported by an artist called Terra Naomi who sang and played guitar/piano with a band. She was ok, I was a bit bored, but I'm not great with new stuff. The mic was too loud and she never pulled back on the strong notes, which was a bit :/ I think I will check out some recorded stuff.

Ah, The Fray.

It's nice to see there are a handful of Nessa fans that are also The Fray fans. I enjoyed reading about how you guys followed them from the beginning, and a few of you mentioned seeing them back when they were just making it big in Denver. I think you guys are very fortunate to have been able to see them rise to fame like that!!! I wish I could have had the opportunity to see them perform in a small venue, which is something they would probably not do too often or at all today.

Anyway, their third album should be coming out in the next few months, so I thought I would come and try to revive this The Fray thread. I can't wait until they start touring again too. I hope I like their new material.
