I am, I've been waiting for 3 long years. i plan on being there saturday morning at the bookstore and spending all day reading in the comfort of my bed.
-
I've never read the first one, or the ones after that...I don't care to read them either.
-
hell no.. ;)
-
Maybe check it out at the library.
-
I'm much more of a Lord Of The Rings person.
-
my sister pre-ordered hers in January! I'm waiting in line Friday night at Walden Books and at midnight they sell. Half the fun is waiting and meeting other Harry fans.
-
i definately dont plan on buying it.... i havent read any of them and i dont intend to start now. i can hardly read the books we havta read in english class, i really dont enjoy reading too much on my free time unless i find somethin realllly worth reading:) hehe
-
I wanna get it, but I'm not sure if it's one of those books where you have to have read the first one and one's after that to understand the latest one...anyone wanna clue me in on that? I heard Harry Potter books are addicting...if your a fan.
The only book i've ever really gotten into before, that I actually enjoyed reading in school was "And then there were none" I kept wanting to turn the page, and man that was such a good book! My all-time favorite.
-
i just don't get this whole harry potter craze.
just don't!
-
Erm ... NO lol
-Brian
-
I've liked all of them so far.. and I'll definitely pick this one up. maybe not on day one. But it's definitely a must read for me.
And for those of you who haven't read them. they are quite good books...
-
I have to wait till november
The book is very expensive so I am not sure if I'll buy it.
Maybe it will be a christmas gift.

and for all those nay-sayers....your loss! i can understand where you're coming from, they are kind of childrens books....but they're for adults as well...basically anyone of any age....i can't wait! :D

you will probably want to get a summary of the 4 previous books if you just want to start this one without reading all the old ones first.
Harry Potter is a very good series, i wish people would give it a chance before dissing it like they do.
I have to finish reading the LOTR series. I think i started Two Towers, but then i starte reading Hearts in Atlantis. I have about 3 books i'm reading at the same time. :?
-
Yeah!Good idea.But I think it's hard to top Harry Potter 4.
But please don't tell me something abt what happend ok?
-
Someone who has already read it rated it a C on the NYC Fox news last night. And she is a huge fan so whatever...
-
Anyone wanna give me a summary of the first 4 books? lol or link me one or something? I don't think I could read all four books by Saturday, Haha
-

i have met J.K Rowling! She was so sweet to me, and she liked my friend's nail varnish. lol, i also have a proof copy of the first one because i had to review it for a magazine.
The books are good, not sure i can really get into a book at the moment though.

Well two movies are out so . . .you can watch them and only have to read 3 and 4
-
I hate Harry Potter. He's such a fag. Why can't kids read REAL books, like A Tale of Two Cities, or Rescue. Something that'll scare the little fuckers to the point where they piss in bed.

that's so awesome! HP is featured in Time magazine this week....there's an awesome story in it about how she contacted this little girl from NY who had cancer and went in to treatment dressed up as Harry because it made her feel brave and such, it's so good!

²Rosie:
Do you get an autograph?
Autographs from her are very expensive under collectors. If you would sell it you would get a lot of money.
-
I keep hearing about it on t.v. and stuff and I cannot wait to get it tomorrow!! I'm not going to stand inline for a million hours tho, lol.
Does anyone know how much this book is going to be?
-
i think Waldenbooks is having 30% off the publishers price + 10% off if you have a preferred readers card (yay for me) so you'll save almost half the price if you go there.
Amazon has the price listed as $29.99 w/ a 40% discount as well, reducing it to $17.99
-
Damn that's expensive for a book!!!
Well, i'm getting mine at barnes&noble. Any idea how much they are selling the book for? My mom said it shouldn't be more than $20...how long is this book? lol
-
its supposed to be like 830 something pages...
its not as long as they said it would be :?
well, that should last be a couple of weeks anyways.
-
It has to be more then 20 dollars if hardcover. If you get lucky they will have the paperback there for you which in more cases will only run you up like 15 dollars or less. I know I had to buy a tree grows in brooklyn which is a very good book by the way and it costed me about 13 dollars. And I was going to read dr.zhivago...or something and it was about 16 dollars. And these both are pretty old book and both paper back...
and to answer the question...I will not be buying harry potter. I don't have an imagination...I read the first book and it was so boring. Then I watched the movie and I thought it was horrible. I didn't really enjoy it but for the rest of you who are getting the book enjoy!

i'm sorry these people are a little strange....and it scares me....
*turns off the news*
-
Well, i'm going to bring $25 and if it's more, i'll have my dad pay the rest, LOL.
I don't really wan't a paperback anyways, I wan't the hardcover. And I just heard that it was 800 pages on t.v. So at least i'll have something to read all summer!! Yay!
-

lol. i think from reading what the nay-sayers are saying i've come to realize that harry potter is somewhat a required taste.... :)
-
a required taste or an acquired taste????? big difference. Not trying to sound bitchy just when people use words that don't fit it bothers me so I try to help them out the best I can so they can learn from their mistakes.

oops! sorry. it's okay, my mom's a teacher so i'm very used to having my grammer corrected....normally i don't make those kinds of mistakes but i've gotten about zero sleep the past four days so i'm a little out of it.
just got my book and can't wait to start reading! :D
-
To be honest I really hated the whole thing when it came out, and near the last day of school we watched on of those movies and it really seemed well written, I'm not a freak about it though were I'm gonna walk around with goofy glasses and weird clothes
-
*cries* I just got back from Barns&Noble and they are all sold out!! ahh, dammit...lol
They are reserving copys now, and they won't get them until like maybe next week...grrr, but he did say that they probably have some at Costco, so i'm going to go there tomorrow, and if they don't have any, then I guess i'll just have to reserve one.

But I can't think of anymore bookstores that are in my town...oh well.

Yup. In like 7th Grade...i'm in 12th now (or going into) so that was about 5 years ago. My teacher said we would get extra credit if we got his signature because we were reading one of his books-tho I never got the extra credit, I don't think anyone did, she prob. forgot, I hate when teachers forget about stuff like that. lol
-
I finally got the book!! At walmart  i'm so happy. I still don't get how people can read that book in one day, it's so fucking long, but hey...good for them. I can't wait to start reading it.

I don't know. I'm not a very good speller either . . . :?
But I loved that book! I read it in 6th grade, so of course, everyone thought I was strange . . .I read it again last year, and I picked up on whole lot more.
-
exactly. i love those kinds of books, where everything's connected and everytime you read it you get something different out of it. much like The Giver, also on my 'favorites' list.
-
This book fucking rocks.
-
i heard that the book isn't as good as the others from a couple of my friends that have already finished it. i'm almost done and it seems pretty good to me... oh well

Question: I know that some of you are from the UK, so maybe you can answer this for me: there are many sayings in this book that i'm not quite sure of....such as
"Are you taking the mickey?"
i was just wondering what this means. there are others that i cant remember....

Taking the Mickey is like taking the piss, not taking things seriously?
and Geroff is 'Get Off' but its how a lot of people say it here when you're kinda fed-up, thats so weird cos i just got back from holiday and we were discussing that!

I just got it in the mail today :(

the beginning is kind of confusing and there's alot happening....but it keeps you guessing, and, like the past four books, it all makes sense in the end. there's even some stuff explained from the past books that play and important role in the plot. and, being the nerd that i am, i'm going to go back and read again it was so good!
And when you finish with HP, here's a really good book to read: The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I forget who the author is, but it's really really good. some other good books are Pure Sunshine, and Cut. Both books are by this company called PUSH, and they publish all books written by young authors.
-
already got it....almost done
