Title: Good Morning / Good Night Thread
Post by: Grakthis on October 07, 2004, 04:59:35 pm
What this MB needs is a place where we can come and post random stuff.

Like, for example, when I wake up in the morning, I might want to mosey on over and say "Morning NH.com! How is everyone today?"

Then Pete might respond back with "Hey Andrew! I'm swell.  Work sucks though."

And I might say back "Oh yeah? What's wrong?"

And Pete might say "Well, see, my boss is a goat sucker"

And I might say "A goat sucker? Litteraly or figuratively?"

And Pete might say "No, I mean.  He's a chubacabras.  VEnezualan goat sucking monster."

And I might say "Wow, I guess it's a good thing you're not a goat then.  How does he feed so far away from Venezuela?"

And Pete might respond with "WEll, he doesn't need to drink Venezualan goats.  He's just from Venezuela."

To which I would probably respond "wait a minute, Pete.  This isn't another scam to get me to stake your boss is it?  Cause the last time we went through this I had to change names and move to a different county."

Obviously, this conversation is purely hypothetical, but you see what I mean.

Then, periodically, as the thread gets too big.  It gets whiped out!  Erased! and I create a new one!

That way we can spam in this thread and it doesn't affect our post count.  See?

Maybe this will stop people from creating pointless threads all the time.  They can all just go in here!

For example, I almost created a thread called "WHAT KIND OF LOTTERY DID MY NOSE JUST WIN!?!?"  purely because that comercial is the dogs bollucks.  I laugh every time I see it.

SO.

post.

That is all.

There is no text here

Edit: Oh yeah.  Good evening Nessaholics!

WHAT KIND OF LOTTERY DID MY NOSE JUST WIN!

AND IT'S FREE!

DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED!!

This place just needs some cheering up.  It's too..... serious and structured.

We need to be able to goof off more.

But not BAD goofing off.  GOOD goofing off.

I am declaring a new Era on NH.com

In honor, I am now going to change my avatar to mine, and everyones, personal hero; Alan Greenspan.

Edit: our avatar size is too small! it must be made bigger! 100x100!

I will hound Katia until it is so. By HOUND I actually mean SEDUCE.  But that's a secret.

Invisi text is hard when the MB changes colors on you...

I'm swell! How nice of you to ask!

How's school going?

I am bummed out about the Bengals being on the bye week.  I need my fix.  Though it's nice that we should get healthy and be ready for the browns.

On an unrelated note.

Edit: Ugh! no linking to a bmp? I don't have photoshop on this pc :(

School is blah, but what's new?

Everyone is saying that "the Bengals still need to get better.... it'll happen" Bullshit. Call me a pessimist, but I think that they were awesome last year, and this little bitch we have in quarterback is ruining it all. And, I never thought I'd say this but, we need to put Kitna in. And we have the Brown's next? I saw them beat the crap out of the Bengals last year. Wasn't fun. But what WAS fun was criticizing the Browns fans, and then laughing as they can't start a fight with me.  :D

Anywho... how's your work going?

Dude! Don't diss Carson!

He has shown flashes.  He's young though.  And the #1 thing we WEREN'T supposed to do was ASK him to win games for us.  And we have done it twice.

Our O-Line is gimpy.  Our #2 reciever has missed 2 games.  And our D has been terrible.

I promise we will be better after the break.

Work has been interesting.  Very busy lately.  They might be sending me to Quebec in a few months.  THat could be very weird since I don't speak a LICK of French.

I watched the second half game Sunday, and I was COMPLETELY unimpressed with Palmer. That's juuuuust me. I agree that they shouldn't ask him to win games, but they should expect him to throw a few less inerceptions, especially when they need to get a touchdown badly. I was getting VERY mad at that point in the game.

Yeah, our D sucks... well, it sucks goats, as you said earlier.

Quebec . . . . Interesting? Haha, have Ghis help you with your French.

Yeah, BUUUUUUT we HAD the lead in the 4th.  If the D had protected it then Carson wouldn't have been forcing throws trying to win in the 2 minute drill.  He could have made safe throws and protected the lead with the running game.

Our D had already LOST that game.  Carson was just trying to come back and save it.

Also, we have played 3 of the top 8 defenses in the NFL already this season.  So it's not like he's beating up on the cardinals here.

Edit: I've had Ghisy on ignore so long I wouldn't even know he was trying to help me.

Yeah, I guess. Our D did lose the game, but Carson could've controlled at least 1 of the interceptions. The other one, though. I applaud whoever caught that, that was pretty amazing. And I hope so badly that we improve over the break. Are the Browns any decent this year? Quite frankly, I only follow/pay attention to the Bengals and the Panthers (who SHOULD have won the Super Bowl last year, but their kicker choked)

Yeah, now that I think about it, we have played a lot of the really good teams, specifically defensive. But we need to step up our level of play a notch or two.

Ghis? Ignore? ...  Eh, I can't find an icon to put here, so I'll put this one.  :drunk:

The Browns are 2-2, but mostly cause of some really bad plays by the opponents.

Lee Suggs is back and he's for real legit as a RB.  So he's gonna be hard to stop.  But we should have both our safeties back.  So our D should be better.  Caleb Miller (our rookie middle LB) will keep getting better too.

With everyone back, we SHOULD beat the Browns.

But, if we had everyone healthy I think we'd be a 3-1 team right now.  I mean, we are THAT close.  Our running game is playing well.  Our corners are MUCH improved.

We just gotta get people healthy.

For randomNESS....

Quote
The Lion for Real

"Soyez muette pour moi, Idole contemplative..."

I came home and found a lion in my living room
Rushed out on the fire escape screaming Lion! Lion!
Two stenographers pulled their brunnette hair and banged the window shut
I hurried home to Patterson and stayed two days

Called up old Reichian analyst
who'd kicked me out of therapy for smoking marijuana
'It's happened' I panted 'There's a Lion in my living room'
'I'm afraid any discussion would have no value' he hung up

Google if you want the rest.

I saw'em in Cincy about a month and half ago.

I was actually dissapointed.  It seems like the shows have gotten very redundant.  It was 90% Crash and Under the table.  Justthe same stuff I've heard a million times.

Then they did like 4 new songs off the upcoming album and they were very average.

I was bummed. :(

I got screwed over going to see them at SPAC.  Apparently my "friend" was supposed to order tickets but then she disappeared and I never heard from her until three weeks after the show.  I've heard recordnings of the new stuff and the only one I like is Joy Ride.  Sugar Will puts me to sleep.

Yep.  I was terribly underwhelmed.  I hope this isn't a sign of DMB having jumped the shark.

They have to stick around long enough to get me a good studio version of Sweet Up and Down!!!11!1!

I still desperatly want to hear "So Right" live.

I still love DMB, but I think I'm finally past that stage.  I'm too old for most  of the crowd.  I find myself thinking about the "glory days."  I'm thinking no more than 1 DMB show per year for me.

I have too many other artists I want to see to focus entirely on DMB!

I still love DMB, but I think I'm finally past that stage.  I'm too old for most  of the crowd.  I find myself thinking about the "glory days."  I'm thinking no more than 1 DMB show per year for me.

I have too many other artists I want to see to focus entirely on DMB!

those quotes were getting wicked long.

yeah, there are a few songs i want to hear, it's my goal to hear So Right, Lie in our Graves, and Nancies.  I've never been to a show when he's played Nancies.  Yet I've heard Warehouse 50 million times.  It's a good song, but there's no variety anymore.

I liked the pyramid :(

I've heard LIOG and Nancies a MILLION times.

I love LIOG live.

Of course, I have seen them something like 25 times now... so there aren't a lot of songs I HAVEN'T heard.  Just the really obscure stuff.

Edit: Ok, I think it's finally my bedtime.  Good night NH.com!  See you in the morning!

it's just the luck of the draw I guess.  I'm usually only at one night of a two or three night stint and it's the one where we get Where are You Going, The Space Between, and I Did It in a row.  Ick. ANd of course the next night he played #14, LIG or Nancies.

Nighty night!

OH, everyone who prays, can you please pray for me on behalf of my grandma? please? in the words of VC, I'll blow you guys imaginary cheek kisses if you do. But she's not doing that well right now.... she has hepatitis C and it's getting ALOT worse and fast..... (she thinks she contracted it from a blood transfusion she had 25 years ago after thyroid surgery...they didn't check blood products for harmful diseases and stuff back then, according to her.) But i'd appreciate it you guys....I'm kind of scared right now.

No complaining about your team's defense being horrible until you give up 182 rushing yards to the Bears, 5 touchdowns in the first half to Peyton Manning and 170+ yards to Tiki Barber.

None.   :microwave: lol

Good Evening to all of you; I'm up at this ungodly hour for me not because I am indeed an undead creature of the night, but because I decided to use the Law of Cosines for an assignment that truly only required a protractor...some part of my brain told me it would be more fun with Trig...and it was... 8O

Hey! Speaking of british slang..... do you listen to the Streets?  Cause Rosie has been completely useless in figuring out what "Rammo in the main room" means.  Is rammo a DJ or something?  Or does that mean packed?  or what?

Yes I do listen to the streets. Involuntarily. Although I quite like the latest single "Blinded By The Light" (I have no excuses. I just do, okay).

Rosie's probably too posh. You need someone from a dive like Leicester to translate this kind of hardcore slang. Yeah, I'd say it almost certainly means  packed (aka rammed).

P.S. I've never met an Englishman that uses the word "java" (excluding references to the "programming language")

Well if you don't say Java, what do you say? Jo? or just coffee?

I'm still learning how to be English here.  Give me a break.

And the street RAWK.  The line is actually from that song, Blinded by the Light.  A Grand Don't Come For Free is an amazing album.  I just wish they got some legit airplay over here.

I did see one of their videos on TV once last month.  THe one for Don't Mug Yourself.

The streets is the absolute LAST thing I'd ever expect to take off in the U.S. But they seem to be doing pretty well. I can stand all their slow stuff. But when it gets any faster or harder, like Don't Mug Yourself, I'm not too impressed. But to each their own. At least they're a bit different.

Why? We love rap.  Besides, Lets Push THings Forward and Fit But You Know It both got some radio play here.

And critics here go NUTS for the Streets.  Same with Dizzee Rascal.  Critics love him here.

yeah.... I don't get half of what he says.  But I googled a lot of it and I asked Rosie about a lot of it.  And she helped fill me in.  And some of it you can figure out from the context.

UUUUGH again. I need help! Advice! Someone told me to close my eyes and pretend i was somewhere else. lol..

stand in the back - most moshing is done towards the front/middle.  but since it's moshing, nothing can be guarenteed.

Training?

Typically if you don't leave anything around that's MORE ineteresting to them then you don't have to do any training.

It is VERY important not to leave piles of  clothes on the floor though.  Cats see those as being almost as useful as litter.

If you keep clothing off the floor and make sure the litter box is 1) Accessible and 2) clean then there shouldn't be any problems.  You probably need to clean it 3-4 times a week in a small apt.

When one of my cats was peeing in every corner of my appartment, I bought a spraying can thing, it's called *going to check* "Training Aid"
I sprayed it on the places where she peed a lot, and since then, she has only had "an accident" once.

Also, I am using "Deo fresh", it's something you have to put on the litter in the box, it makes it smell better (for you and for the cat)

Leave the litter box in the same place at all times.

Oh, and I clean the litter box at least twice a day (I have a rather small appartment, and 2 cats)

He's not entirely joking.  You actually can train you cat to use a toilet.

you can actually train cats to do alot of things - they learn really well by sounds like clicking rather than spoken commands like you do with a dog. The trick is to keep their attention, which can be a lot harder to do with cats.

I would try rewarding it with a treat or with a toy after it uses the litter box - positive reinforcement almost always works. just vary the reinforcement otherwise it could get bored quickly.

I've never had to train my cats.  I showed them the box and they went.  When I move it, I show them were I move it to.

lol it was the same way with our cats too, but when my dad got a cat we had to train him. the treats pretty much worked after about a week.

lmao and about the flushing thing - i can only think of Meet The Parents where the cat uses the toilet and then clogs the septic tank :-P

This is because cats are particuliar about where they will do it.  If allowed to go outside they will naturally pick a sandy spot over other places if available.  So if they know a box is there they will use it.  It might take a little to nudge the natural tendency for kittens, but it usually doesn't take much.

Quote from: "Grakthis"
Sing me something soft, sad and delicate, loud and out of key, sing me anything.

Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wiped out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Good afternoon Nessaholics.

I would like to make a request.  Can we stop making BLOG threads?

NH.com is not your blog.  We don't want to have an entire thread about your day, your football game, or your weekend plans.

I don't see anything wrong with those as POSTS.  But put them in HERE as individual posts.  People will still respond.

I just get sick of seeing the front page full of things that should have been individual posts and not entire threads.  We have way too many frivolous threads here.

:(

Our defense is terrible.

And our offense is crap without Peter in there.  Amazing how much of a difference he makes in our passing game.  Without a 2nd receiving threat behind Chad we are left to dumping the ball off to backs and tight ends.

Then throw in Chad dropping 4 passes.... :(

I'd like to see a separate topic for sports talk.  I've made the suggestion.  It may or maynot be added to the Entertainment section.  There is enough sports talk going around for it to have it's own section.

A sports forum would be okay, but we already have enough forums and I don't think demand is high enough. IMAAO
I think sports threads should go into Entertainment. IMAAO

He married Susan Jackson, who is now Susan Miller, I reckon.

Wedding was fun.  I was disspointed in Susan for a lack of real bridesmaids/friends options for me to hit on.  Just one bridesmaid was single and she had almost no friends there that I didn't already know.  I spent more time flirting with the photographer than any of her friends.  Sad.

The DJ was a funny guy with a pony tail.   He played bad oldies all night.  But I think that's because largely it was the parents up and dancing.  The young crowd was socializing.  I seriously barely sat down.  It was a room with 150 people I know half of whom I hadn't talked to in months/years.  So I had a LOT of friends/family I had to go say hi to.

Jason's little one is adorable.  She's tiny.  She pretty much slept the whole time I was there.  I had a fun time hanging out with jason, as always.  We argued a little politics but mostly just caught up on life and such.  Since we hadn't seen eachother in about a year.  Lisa is well too.  I miss being able to chat with Jason online.  Not a whole lot to report there.  Jason showed me pictures from when the hurricane and flooding rolled through Atlanta.

I also discovered that me driving me new little sports sedan through atlanta traffic is dangerous.  It prompts me to do silly silly things.  I hope to do it again someday :)

sounds like you had a good time Andrew.  It's nice to hear about Jason.

Me, I'm not doing much tonight, just studying, eating ice cream and watching Trading Spaces.  pathetic.  Although I picked out my new computer, I just need a few more paychecks to order it!

tuesdays and thursdays, my first is at 9:30, which is still too early.  I'd much rather night classes as opposed to morning classes.

I just can do it, if i have enough information in my brain i'll go right on it. Im one those people who HAS to get it done before anything else. So i'm pretty much done with papers for this semester. I remember the firealarm going off in college.

I learned to sleep through it :)

I was going to go right back to sleep, but the RA was going around to the doors making sure everybody got their ass out.

yeah just ask the students at Seaton Hall who slept through the fire alarm.  Wait you can't because they died because it was a real fire.

*rolls eyes*

That's what the WINDOW is for.......

gee, now there's a novel idea. It just pisses me off because residents blame RA's for everything.

Um.... it *IS* you're fault.

That time at UD the 2 kids fell out the window while wrestling next to a giant picture window on the 3rd floor?  THat was your fault.

i'm in possibly the meanest mood i've been in a long time.

and, i only got in to three of my classes, making me *currently* a part time student, meaning i have to skip my next class to meet with my advisor to make me a full time student. meaning, i'm going to end up taking a shit course at a shit time putting me in a shit mood.

heh, that has happened to me for two semesters in a row, I can't get into the classes that I need.  Except here they say to sign up for some random classes that you dont plan on taking, just to make it appear like you are full time, and then to drop them before the semester starts.  Because usually a week before classes you can sign up and over enroll and get in to the class you need.  Bleh, its annoying.

i have two more back up classes, hopefully i'll get in to one of them. the list says they're wide open, but it lies sometimes so we'll see i guess. damn being a freshman and being the last to register for classes    and it figures the only class i could get in to was my math class, the subject i hate the most, and couldnt' get in to any classes for my major.

ok so i finally got my schedule worked out. i got the crappiest classes, but such is the life of every other freshman in college. the only good news is that my classes are only on MWF from 10:20-3:25 which leaves Tues and Thurs open to get my volunteering/work done.

Guys are a billion times better than girls.
Girls go all narky and stuff, and you never know what they're thinking.
Boys are easier to understand.
Hell i'm a girl and I don't understand other girls.

Coffee is the best. Sometimes it's the only reason to get out of bed ...
Deep fried turkey is absolutely delicious. I've never had meat that tasted so good ...
Really good turkey is almost better than a beef or even veal!!!

My boss is a hypocrit.
She suggested she wanted to ban people playing chess on lunch because apparently it borders on people being tardy, and yet in all honesty having had to shadow her for a week now, I can honestly say, she does about 2 hours of work a day if that ... it's made up of talking and emailing and delgation.

it's 5.26pm on a thursday .. and I can't go home until she comes out of a "meeting" ... which is just another word for getting paid bucket loads to procrastinate under the guise of working and discussing solutions to arbitray undefined problems that can't be solved..

Thursday is the best day of the week EVER!!!
It holds so much hope and aniticipation.
It's not Friday which is overly glamorised IMO
and it's not saturday which is rushed,
and it's not sunday whcih is depressing becaue the next day is monday :-)

5.27pm ... still not Kate.

Buenos dias, senorita!

Last night was CRAZY here.  My buddies and I hit our local bar and the thing was PACKED.  Worse than I have seen it in a year or more.  I think it was cause it's a mostly indoor bar and it's now officially too cold for the outdoor bars AND no one works or has school tommorow.

I will be eating excessvie turkey today.  Deep fried turkey.  It will be AWESOME.  And cranberries.  And pumpkin pie.  And bourbon soaked sweet potatoes.  And stuffing.

*drools*

Well the weather in Sunny Sydney is BRILLIANT!!! The sun is making it's appearance in a most spectacular way. I spent all weekend learning to SURF!!! I CAN STAND UP!!! :-) *claps*! but I fall down again as soon as I do :-) funny.

Can you take a day off? Then, you can pick a day and take it off ... and then the bar will have a nice atmosphere without being too crowded ...

Morning everyone!

I've got the worst cold ever but "I'm fiiiiiine-d" (I actually talk like that  :? ) On top of that I'm leaving tomorrow, going to a colder part of Spain for some days with my parents - there's no uni til next Thursday! - where my cold is bound to get even worse. Lovely, innit?

How's everyone else doing?

I just got rid of a cold myself. Although I'm not too sure it actually was just a cold. I had a temperature of 104. I couldn't do anything but watch daytime TV :-\ But, even so, the advantages of being ill (i.e. not having to go to work) *far* outweigh the advantages of being well (i.e. being able to breathe, walk and speak).

There are  :? It's very cold indeed. The coldest parts are between the northern coast (where I live) and Madrid, places like Avila, Segovia (where I'm going), Burgos, Valladolid... I hope it doesn't snow, though it probably will. I hate cold weather!

A lot of my family lives in Austin.  My brother goes to school in Waco (but he's home right now), and it's like my second home, so I know all too well that it hardly EVER snows in Texas!

Yay! Go play in it.. if there's enough!

OH there was enough alright... it snowed throughout that whole day  and turned into a snowstorm by sunset... there were three inches of snow on my front porch and the roads were icy... i had to go to my grandma's house on the other side of town and the normally-20 minute drive took almost 2 hours because of the ice. FUN FUN FUN!!!
