I don't think V cares that shes not played on the radio and on TV as much as before..she has a very indie mind set...and she knows what she wants...just between harmonium and this record their were SOOOOO MANY shifts in record labels, going out of business, being bought over, merging with other labels, etc...that when your working with a team of people to promote a record, two weeks later, that team has been let go, assigned to a different project.  Although I think Vanessa would do better on her own label, The Inc. wasn't expecting a HUGE hit out of Vanessa or her A&R team would have done a better job with promo for H&T.  I think Vanessa is happy with The Inc. but I'd be suprised if she releases another album with them.  Lets just say that the only thing different between the Inc. and A&M is that with The Inc she is getting a bigger cut off of album profits....keep in mind that the average major label artist in the 'mainstream' gets sometimes less than 10 percent of royalties.  Sooo unless you are selling millions of albums it's not worth it for the artist.  The bigger the percentage the more money you could make with lets say 60,000 copies?

...Also lets not blame the Inc. for everything.  It takes two to tango.

ps: V is a stoner, they make those kinds of faces and expressions. It happens! ;)

It was nice to hear some words from V herself about a possible tour with Joshua Radin in the summer.....but sucks that V would open for him.  Mid July. :)!

Yes, thank you..and thats totally my point..there has been no appreciation shown at all...I mean half of the 'shows' shes played in last 6 months have been posted and 'dugg up' by board members prowling the internet looking for 'news'.  sad.

It's not hard to do nowadays..especially since she already has a foundation, a name.  Lets just hope she goes in the right direction..I'm rooting for her but its getting hard to do so with the little she has given her fans.

Your right, shes not indie.  But the way(the little) they promoted the label was very indie minded...so I don't think V or The Inc were expected much of a bigger debut with H & T....the way they are steering ship is very indie, but still not enough to really keep your name in the game.  Personally,  I think Vanessa jumped onto another label way too quickly...which is easy to do with the way the music industry is changing.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Where is Vanessa?

Yeah, I think its rediculous that her last update was in November.  Sad.  I'm sorry..I know this business all to well and it's not that hard to get on a computer and type a 2 minute blog.  I know Vanessa hates the internet and prefers the 'written note'...she could even write them up and give them to one of her 'team members' or forward it to the person who runs her Myspace(quite horribly by the way).  She needs to step it up herself, OR surround herself with a better team.  This is nuts!  And I'm sorry that I'm not putting her up on a perfect pedistal.  And I know she is not 'supposed' to do any posting or any updates if she doesn't want to...but sad to say these are going to be the people that are going to buy your jewelry as well....so you might as well kiss their butts as much as possible.

Vanessa had her shot as 'mainstream'.  I don't see a 'comeback' in the cards......and i use the term comeback very loosely because i think The Inc. and Vanessa herself are all happy about she is, and where H & T is..she seems to be happy anyway...I mean if she wasn't happy, she should show alittle bit more initiative...and try harder at pushing the record...it almost seems as if shes given up completely.  Yes, I know there was a second 'single', a 2nd 'video' but when you want to steer the ship in an indie way...you gotta go for it and tour, tour, tour.  Thats the only way 'indie minded' artists survive.

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Vanessa's third video music?
« on: April 26, 2008, 11:49:50 pm »
ps: sorry im going to try and be a good boy now!  i just can't stand to see such a talented artist drowned and let it happen!  it just seems as thought she really doesn't care anymore....album sales and media coverage isn't important too me as long as i keep getting new music...but with all these other projects and not touring and lack of interest it seems like she has it just scares me that she will go to solely scoring films and writing songs for other artits...thats a great thing but vanessa is sooooo talented and i'd hate to see her leave it behind.

but yes.  i love the music and i am going to try and be more positive now..i promise...cause i know how negative my posts can be. :)

The only thing that we can rely on is the TV special with Stevie...hopefully that'll be done and aired soon...but I have a feeling it's going to compliment Stevies album release date....and not do much for Vanessa. :(.

But it's funny I love how Vanessa talks about her music and the way she "looks" at her music and how she wants her fans to be able to get ahold of it in a very 'indie' way...but when your an indie artist you have to WORK FOR YOURSELF, it takes a lot of hard work...and I have not seen Vanessa do anything herself to support this album....any differently than Harmonium.  A simple Myspace blog or a weekly/monthly update could do wonders....They have all the right weapons of promotion but her or her label/team are not using them.....
