Don't ask for the leak. We can't condone the illegal trading of music. We can't control whatever you do via PMs and IMs and ask that you keep any requests in those channels and off this board. You don't have to ask for someone to PM you, either. See that button by the person's post that says PM? Click it if you want to talk to them in private!
Any post requesting the leak will be taken out of this thread. :)

Yea, since like harmonium leaked before the cd release we took a similar stance. You can discuss the songs and even post about it being leaked but no links *to* the actual CD or where to download. What we have no control over is people PMing each other and/or posting on their personal sites.

Just a FYI, any links posted where to *download* the CD on the forum will be deleted. We can't control what you do via PM / AIM / etc but we can't condone the spreading of something illegal here.
btw, i understand that you all will buy the CD, if not multiple copies and some already have it pre-ordered. I am also sure given the contacts you have via the forum you can get the songs without a link having to be posted somewhere around here :)

Spring Street is quite nice and it actually reminds me of a really Beatles song to be completely honest. I think it's going to take me more than a couple of listens to for me to be completely certain whether I like it or not. A first listen, i'd rate it a 6/7/10.

I'm listening to My Best at the moment. It's a really nice melody and i'm thinking that this song really reminds me of John Mayer. I'm sorry it's only a brief comment but I promise i'll provide a full review.

Come Undone is beautiful I think. You guys will love the piano in it. The drumming pattern reminds me of Nolita Fairytale.

The One. YES! She's done the alternate version of the One - ie. not the one recorded live @ The Living Room. It's the one she recorded in Japan and there are violins!

Erm..I believe she's ruined it but that's my opinion. It's like a a dead bland whine where you can bearly heard the melody.

:lol: Heroes and Thieves has a nice drumbeat to it and i'm sure I can hear some christmas-type percussion [like a small triangle] but you can still hear a crack in her voice at the end of the chorus - I'm going to have to relisten to it but I think she had it sung spot on, on the second chorus. There are more violins in this song.
The only criticism I have of the album so far is that the drumming on the tracks besides Nolita Fairytale sound like they're coming from a drum machine rather than a drum set. Some of the songs like Spring Street will take me a few more listens before I can say I really like them. For now, they're okay.
This Time - Oh God yes. This is the promo version we all heard. It's all good stuff. This is a really well made track. There are some places where she sings over herself which is quite nice.

I saw this post and my stomach sank. I thought it would be like Harmonium all over again. This time I'm not listening to it until the CD officially comes out. But I hope everyone else enjoys, and from what I've read from your reactions so far it's shaping up to be her best album yet.

I'm listening to Home now and so far there hasn't been a drumbeat. It sounds exactly like the one she did with Star Radio so you can expect it to be like that. The only difference is that you can hear more violins harmonizing with the chorus. Are my ears decieving me, I think I can hear a ukelele or some type of harp. The string arrangement is gorgeous.

No guys - there's a drum beat towards the very end of the last chorus. It's really, really great and it actually sounds like a drum set. All the drumming so far besides Nolita Fairytale sound all very subdued. OMG guys - she extended Home...the ending...wow...a piano solo and it's amazing - like really fast arpeggios.

It is just a matter of fact that CDs get leaked and whether or not we post here isn't going to change that fact.

Yeah I know. I'm just suprized at how open and direct people are about it. It's like accelerated 100 times. "People think hey, it has leaked so I'll rip it, convert it, and send it fed-ex priority next day air to china Saturday delivery. Nothing we can do about it You know?"

I think it'd be smart to close registration for the time being, I see a lot of fan forums do this since tons and tons of people come looking for downloads of albums once they leak or are released, and once they get what they want or find the info they're looking for, they disapear.
It's pretty obnoxious, but whatever.

Hands on me is completely different than what I was expecting, but I'll get used to it. Spring street is amazing.
I'm only going to listen to the first five tracks and save the rest for OCT 9th. I spoiled it for myself last time with Evanescence's Open Door. I knew the whole album before it came out and it made the real copy less important to me. Not this time.

But to add to that, there's numerous forums I read and dont often post to, I've been browsing here for about a year now just flicking through the pages... But I mean an opportunity like this arises lol.

Oh and Evboard last year, they have like i dunno THOUSANDS of members, i can't remember if it's in the tens or hundreds, but when The Open Door leaked, they just left discussion of the songs closed until Oct 2nd (international release date, which in Vanessa's case is Oct 8th) which I thinks a good idea. I mean a lot of people don't want to know until they have chance to listen :)
I for one though, do get leaked albums and then buy them if they're worth listening to. I delete songs/albums I don't like from my computer, so considering it's V, I think I'll be buying anyways haha. :D

This is brilliant, I have to say. After three years, we finally get to hear the third album... three years of waiting and wondering, speculations and even a lot of drama. But it's here! It's so amazing that I'm actually quite calm and just so happy about it...well if you don't count the spazzing out I had a few seconds ago... but jeez, I think it's about time and I'm proud of V for making such a beautiful record and I'd like to say thanks! :)

I'm only listening to the songs she's played before. So far, I'm partial to "Fools Like Me". Really is quite different from what I'd expected.
And excluding Stevie's vocals (they seem poorly mixed into the song), "The One" really gives me the chills, it's beautiful. That little bit of bass in the first verse adds a lot.

Have some respect guys....don't download the songs....it's illegal and disrespectful to Vanessa, who has put in a lot of EFFORT and TEARS to stand up again and write a new album.

I defintely think her voice sounds more mature, clearer more specifically. It sounds smooth and like she has more control over it; it's also the first time that I would ever say that her voice truly sounds beautiful. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked her voice, but it's just got a different quality to it now.

Yeah, it's more rockish than Harmonium was.
The piano sounds beautiful, it sounds so clear, like glass...or something like that.
I really love the bass that she has in these songs!

I can't speak for others outside this forum however. Seriously though, if you think we're disrespecting Vanessa, people that have stuck by her through thick and thin and are eager to hear new material, which we plan on buying to begin with, then you need to take a step back and look at what's been going on in these forums since this album was announced.

I don't like what they did with "Fools Like Me." The whole album is a lot more pop than I expected. I guess I am just so used to hearing it just V and the piano. I'm not used to this up tempo.

I wouldn't brand it, "pop" as such. I think it's more alternative - very reminicent of what John Mayer did with Continuum. I completely agree with the One being ruined. Stevie's vocals were a huge let down and it would have sounded a million times better without her.

More than This, I think will grow on me. It's a good tune and full of melody. It reminds me of Over the Rainbow.

For me it is the big (positive) surprise and something which we did not really hear yet in her music. It is amazing when the choir kicks in, I have listened to it quite some times now and I love that part still.

I think their vowels and tones don't match up at all.
And that's my little choir terminology explanation :lol:
Other than that, The One really is a gorgeous song.

i had got about 3% into the download and clicked cancel. I'm being a good boy this time!!! other leaks ive downloaded have ruined the album a bit. but i am a bit concerned about all this negative talk about stevie on the one, i love that song :(

My Best is definately my favorite song thus far, the "Na na na na's" on Spring Street get pretty annoying after awhile and I don't like the way they're sung.
Stevie's vocals on The One are really distracting I think, she's awesome but she sounds like a billie goat during some lines. lol But it works, I guess. The harmony at the begining of the song is amazing.
I like Fool's Like Me a lot but the whistling in the begining completely throws me off, it's such a serious song and during the begining there's happy whistling. Oh man.
I looove the production on Hands On Me, the little nuances like the filtered and scattered voice that pops up (at the 7 second mark) throughout the verse, I just love stuff like that. And the way they produced the song so that it builds up, it's really impressive and epic, especially when the chorus kicks in at the end. Before I had doubts about this song working as a single, but the final product completely blew me away. Production wise I think this was the biggest surprise for me.
I love the begining of Come Undone, it makes me think of Dark Carnival.
I never really cared for This Time, even the finished studio version is just a standard Linda Perry ballad. The piano arrangement and style makes me think of Beautiful by Christina Aguilera, and the rest of the arrangement of the song just sounds really uninspired, it's not anything special, there's tons of stuff like this already on the radio.
I love the piano outro on Home, this is a beautiful beautiful song. I wonder why she doesn't play the outro live, it's really dramatic and poignant, it adds a nice touch and shows off her crazy skills. lol
More Than This is alright I guess, it has to grow me.

Another thing I'm noticing, is that the pacing on the album is really steady. Like, the album goes from begining to end in one straight line, it doesn't dip or move in and when it has the potential to finally breathe under all the heavy production, it doesn't.
Like, with BNN and Harmonium, we had lighter songs contrasted with darker and heavier songs, and it felt like those albums had direction. This album has direction, but in a very different sense. Like, there are stand out tracks, but they all have an extremely similar feel and style to them, and there aren't any darker tracks to change the tone of the album at all.

Do you really think it was leaked on accident? Haha, no way there is a reason why her and everyother atrtists albums have been leaking. Its the record companies doing it to create buzz = more spins on the radio/more talk about the album to push its sales when it is finally released to the public.

I feel like they're the children you have that you love equally, but for different reasons.
BNN is wide-eyed, innocent and raw.
Harmonium is revealing and exposes more of her dark side (Annie, HAWBTW, She Floats, The Wreckage) and tightly knit.
H&T is refined and the most grown-up (predictably). Her voice is better, but the piano seems simplest of all of the albums.
I could never choose a favorite.

Awww, don't say that. Ordinary Day, A Thousand Miles and Rinse were masterfully produced! However, I have to confess that I think the orchestra arrangement was much better on Be not Nobody than either Heroes and Thieves and Harmonium.

The harmonies that kick in at the 2:31 mark are actually pretty nice if you don't let Stevie's voice distract you.

I'm thinking along the lines of Amy Lee singing STAAAAAAAAAAAAAR about 7 times during the song "Your Star" it was so annoying when you first heard it, but I think its the best Evanescence song ever now.
I love this album, and I agree with V about it being the best patch of songs she's ever written... and it's great coz I can relate to it so much, or parts anyways.
I can't wait to buy it :D

at some points she does kind of kill it but if you just dont listen to her vocals than its just an amazing song but I like her voice its not like great but I mean its not bad either I like the arranegment

OK, so I went out to dinner after Fools Like Me, which I'm going to need a few more listens on to decide. I really liked how dark, brooding it was live. I think I'll eventually love it.
Anyway, HOME. Oh my friggin Lord. I was almost moved to tears by it. When the drums came in, I like freaked out. And the outro is just... oh my God. Upon first listen, it's my favorite.

All is Well!!!!!!!!!!! Even if it is a rumor, we can always hope that All is Well might be on there.
I'm surprised at the fact that Best Buy might want to even release a special edition for H&T, considering Harmonium was a "failure". But still, it's really, really cool to hear that.
As for the cd leaking, I was initially anxious to hear it, but seeing everyone all gushy over it makes me want to just hold out a little longer for the real thing. But that's just me.

I'd definitely want the H&T Special edition from Best Buy if that exists. maybe they'll put it up on their website so we can confirm. The album is amazing. I love Spring Street. It is actually really sad. sorta of like the annie of Heroes and Thieves bringing tears to your eyes.
So the sad songs from each albuim are: bnn- paradise, harmonium- Annie, H&T- Spring Street. I'm not very keen on My best, but i will get used to it!

im indifferent how i feel about stevies voice in it. i think with her singing it it stays with that dark feel like in the beginning, but it does sound like a machine at the same time. i think i'll just try to get used to it cuz i like this version much better than the live one.
i think the whole cd will have to grow on me, I like Harmonium a lot better. but you never know maybe i'll change my mind after a few more listens.

Anyway, the male harmonizer's voice sort of gets on my nerves from time to time (and he's in almost every song). It doesn't really sound like Stephan though to me. I like when girls harmonize with guys, but for some reason I usually dislike guys doing backup vocals for girls. It works at the end of More Than This, but idk about the rest for me.

As for the CD itself, I've only listened to it once and I was bowled over by Home at first listen. The ending is like a musical orgasm. Vanessa is a genius.

Spring Street took a while to grow on me, but i guess thats just bevuase i was so excited to listen to the other songs, i didn't really listen to Spring Street as well. But it's so good.
Listening to More Than This makes me so emotional... Both my grandads were in war, and when she sings about Heroes and soldiers will come home, i just get so teary... I miss them so much... And one of them died before i was born.. Which makes me so sad :?
But the end of More Than This is my fave. When her dog barks, always raises my spirits :D
Fools Like Me was always a fave.

Nolita Fairytale (Great introduction for her new sound and think that the lyrics "hope you feel just like I feel I found some kind of fairytale" summarize the feel and message of the entire album)

Spring Street (like it, but am afraid that it gets old quickly because it's basically the same structure that gets repeated during the entire song, whereas the other songs are much more dynamic, do like the subdued (sp??) quality of the song)
My Best (Is growing on me, can't say more)
The One (Never liked it that much and have to say that I still don't like it. However I don't dislike it. About Stevie's vocals: they are flat, but they do not really bother me. She sounds like when you play a song on a higher speed, the vocals get all high-pitched and chipmunky. She sounds like that, but then on normal speed. Hope this makes sense.)

Come Undone (This song reminds me of Clarity by John Mayer. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it's sort of simple and has a very emphatic, almost staccato, beat to it).
The One (I really like Stevie's vocals, unlike most. However, I think she sings too much. I think she could've been used a little less and been more effective. I know, I know, she shouldn't have been used at all, I get the point. Yes, her voice is low. That's what Stevie Nicks sounds like. What did everyone expect?)
Heroes and Thieves (OMG cello)
Fools Like Me (Not sure I dig the whistling intro, but this song is amazing nonetheless).
Home (I bawled when I first listened to this. It is absolutely gorgeous and the last verse, where everything cuts out but the piano and she slows down, it's so simple. It really makes me feel her definition of what a true home is. And I love the outro).
More Than This (One of the best songs we have ever heard from Vanessa. It is an incredible achievement, imo).

Upon first listen, I was very disappointed and a little devastated (especially by My Best and Come Undone.)
Now, I am glad to report, I am loving it more and more. Hands on Me, The One, Heroes and Thieves, This Time, Fools Like Me, and More Than This blew me away. The more I listen to My Best, the more I like it. I like the melody and the sentiment a lot. Come Undone...eh. I still have to listen some more. And as for Spring Street, I love the lyrics. Very touching. Although the "na na na na's" don't annoy me, I still wish there was more of a chorus. And I wish it actually had a beat too. But it's still good.
More Than This, Heroes and Thieves, and Fools Like Me are my favorites.
More Than This is THE BEST SONG VANESSA HAS EVER WRITTEN. Period. It is the song of her career. When I heard it, I was literally sobbing like a newborn baby, the tears streaming down my cheeks like a river. All I can say is, thank you, Vanessa, for writing this song. It has saved me.

i personally liked this time before i heard the album version, which bugs me somehow....the emotion seems to be gone...i think she had 2 amazing alternatives and should have included them, either in the stead of this time or with it.
I think i also have to let it grow on me.......i let that occur with spring street and hands on me(album version) and really love them now...
Hands on me...originally i wanted to slam my head into the wall.but something told me to listen to it again, and i realized how well the song went with the way she did it...and i was pleased..i'll still love the US open version though ....

After a day I have to say that this album didn't blow me away the way Harmonium did, but it's a solid album nonetheless.
I think it was a little overproduced, but maybe that will help V achieve more "mainstream" popularity. I really wish she didn't change the entire feel of (PY)HOM for the album -- that song worked so well exactly as she sang it at the US Open. The song as recorded on the album is still very good, just not as good as it could have been, in my opinion, had they simplified it.
Home and Heroes & Thieves on the album are superior to the live versions I have heard. I also like The One and don't mind Stevie Nicks's harmonies.
Fools Like Me is also very good and I actually like the arrangement.
As for More Than This, it just sounds too much like a Broadway musical number for me -- feels like I am listening to the soundtrack of Rent.

I completely agree..I was hoping the end song would be something like twilight or the wreckage, but I don't get what the big deal about that song is. It bores me too. I'm trying to get into it I just can't. I really wish that song would have been replaced with All Is Well, thats more twilight/the wreckage-ish if that makes sense.

I just can't...when I actually bought harmonium it wasn't as special like when I had be not nobody and listened to everything for the first time because I waited it out. I'm just going to wait until October and just look at the tracks on windows media player.

I didn't necessarily think it would be slow... I just figured it would keep the same sortof mood that the acoustic version had. Heck, even the portion of the song before the first hook shared the mood.
And then the hook just added too much... there was no buildup, just a valley turning into a quick peak, then going into a valley, and then peaking... then peaking higher with the obnoxious chorus at the end.
The arrangement didn't evoke feelings of love... or despair... or whatever that feeling is when you have fallen for someone and want them to see you how you see them (that's the best I could think of).
Instead... I was just confused.

On first listen, this actually didn't blow me away like I thought it would. However, after a couple more repeats, I really began to start loving the album as a whole and not just picking on individual songs like I did with the last two. In my opinion, if Be Not Nobody was a rusty old penny and Harmonium a shiny piece of gold, Heroes and Thieves would have to be like a sparkling diamond. No longer do I have to stop paying attention when the songs in major keys are over; now I can really appreciate an entire album as a whole. All the production is pretty amazing too, much more interesting to listen to than all the acoustic sadness.
PS: I hope I'm not the only one that thinks My Best is the birthchild of Best Behaviour. Their subject matters are pretty similar and it's a bit of a stretch but there is a bit of recycled melody in there.

Nolita Fairytale - It's pretty good but its not a song i can fully feel apart of or make it fit my own feelings and life. It's HER story and song
Hands On Me - Though the original name was pretty long, this seems to short. This song is so overproduced that it makes me want to cry. Maybe ill grow to love it but V and a piano will always have that place in my heart.
Spring Street - I can't stand the 'Na, Na, Na's' but aside from that I love it. SADLY there are a LOAD of Na, Na, Na's
My Best - I am not fond of this song.. period
Come Undone - This song is something that could possibly grow on me, but I feel right now the song doesn’t go anywhere. BUT The ending is very nice..
The One - This song is pretty good and I don't mind Stevie but I happen to be in love with Rumors and that probably keeps me on that side.
Heroes and Thieves - I LOVE the demo on this one so its possible I have demo-itis. Overall the song is pretty good but just a smidge too upbeat for me.
This Time - this is a weak sounding song, but it's very RAW and I like that about V.
Fools Like Me - EHHHH This might grow on me, there are some really strong and great parts of this song and a few weak parts. I'll get over it.

More Than This – I can’t stand the awkward notes, and the song goes nowhere for me. The choir is too cliché for me and this song just doesn’t work for me.
I know that if I instantly liked all of these songs then it would be too easy listening and easy to be tired of.
I've always known Nessa to have a streak of genius and to do what she needed to do. There have been a couple times where I just didnt get 'it' and questioned her ways and realized later I just wasn’t ready.
The main reason I listened to the leak is because I already pre-ordered and couldn’t contain myself, but sadly this album slightly disappointed me.
I think this was an album she just had to make for herself and I appreciate that.
I’m gonna have to say Harmonium has my heart and will probably keep ahold of it until possibly the next album.

Someone already pointed out that the CD is going to be enhanced with with the Nolita Fairytale video. As for hidden tracks and stuff, I don't think we're going to get it. However, there's always hope for the Japanese Bonus CD.

I feel like her P/Vs on Harmonium were lacking. The Wreckage wasn't too bad, but I hate Papa. The song was fantastic live, with lots of energy, and on the record it was slowed down, she sounded bored, and it needed so much more. It should have been really in-your-face.

Well its weird because my best was my least favourite but its completely grown on me.
I like more then this as well :D especially the end...i agree with whoever said it, its a great end to a great album.

The songs that have been leaked...are they going to be EXACTLY the same as the ones on the album - i mean - the instrumentals etc...or are they going to be somewahat different. Are they demos or something?

I can't believe the topic hasn't been deleted yet... Sure it has leaked, but you are doing the opposite of trying to contain the leak. It's like having a tiny hole in your tire leaking air and then slashing it with a knife. Oh well.
tylor, there is really no way to "contain" a CD being leaked. so what, we delete this thread then what? a bunch more pop up with people talking about the songs? then people ask, where'd you get that song, then someone posts saying the CD was leaked... then we delete that post too?
It is just a matter of fact that CDs get leaked and whether or not we post here isn't going to change that fact.

LMAO, I was just denoting the extra effort of some people. You can't have priority and saturday delivery either, but you're taking the extra effort to check the boxes --and that was my point.
I'm not sure we are on the same wavelength either....do you work for the label or are you just being sarcastic. :razz:

My Best has grown on me as well. The only song on the album I can do without is Spring Street. It's okay but it doesn't grab me. The album as a whole is great. The only criticism I have is that the intro for Come Undone is a bit long. I liked Come Undone from the first listen

well I listen to Nine Inch Nails and a few of their songs have long intros like Eraser its like half the song the intro so I think her ntro for come undone is really not long. I love the song though, it was stuck in my head all day today.

I thought that it would be good to share a non-Holic's opinion of the album. I played HaT in the car today for my friend Joe on the way to school and on the way to my car after school he said, "Can we listen to that CD again? I love it!" He said he would buy it next Tuesday. :) His favorite song was "My Best".

mmhmm I have been letting (forcing) some friends to listen to it and at the end they all tell me that they thought she had ok music but after listining to the album they love her (not as much as I do lol) and 5 of my friends listined to it and 3 of them said that they will buy it! so I think just getting out and letting (or forcing :evil: :D ) people to listen to the album is not a bad idea...

I did that on a forum where it's made up of people who listen to mainly urban music and there honestly wasn't a bad comment on it. They said it was a nice, solid album and a lot of their favourites were "Hands On Me", "Come Undone" and "Heroes & Thieves".
I really think Vanessa has a shot of getting back out there again.

Well...as much as I love V, I can't say her album will compare to yours. *shoot me* Don't Be Beautiful is my favorite song of all time, its my screen name and I use it for pretty much everything...Your lyrics/music have definitely changed my life Shannon, thank you. <3 Sorry V! Respect artistic growth :lol:. If she sounded anything like Be Not Nobody or Harmonium, how can you expect her to grow as a musician? There's a reason why artists sound different on each album - it's because they're growing, not necessary because they want to change.
Change is inevitable.

I agree, I think it's a much more mature and experimental album than the previous ones. I think it's less "Pop", although I think a lot of songs are really catchy! I really want Home and More than This to be singles.
And about listening, I'm only gunna listen if it comes on shuffle on my iPod lol. If not I'm not going to purposely listen either till my copy's delivered :D I'm really looking forward to it! I love physical CDs, digital music just isn't the same as getting your hand on the booklet or putting it into a CD player lol.

Loved More Than This from the start, but Come Undone has definitely surpassed it for me. Haven't listened to the album in two WHOLE days (giving the mind a mini-vacation so I can be semi-refreshed when the album comes out in six freaking days), but I was surprised how quickly Come Undone ascended.

No,I live in China,never seen Nessa's original copies in big record stores,
not even bootlegs of her albums in the local disc stores.

I've been away from the board for the past five weeks, mainly because I was dreading having to wade through all the hundreds of new posts that I knew were going to be up here (and I know, that doesn't make it go away; it only gets worse, because I sign on today and sure enuff, there are 350 threads with new posts!!!). But I knew I needed to sign on today because it'd probably be my last chance to read any news before release day.
I'm kinda sad to see that it's leaked, but I'm a little surprised to see that it wasn't until two weeks before release day rather than the two months with 'Harmonium'. I was actually away from the board for nearly a year when I came back a month before release day to find that out. In that case, I did download the leak (and it's actually still that leak download that I listen to today when I listen to the album, and CD I bought has never even been played), but this time, it's just six days away, so I'm waiting.
I've been enjoying all this stuff I've read on here about it, and I'm really looking forward to it. I think it helps because I'll have some sense of what to listen for the first time I put it in, but I will completely not have heard most of it (I haven't been downloading all the crappy little live clips either, no offence to anyone who may have uploaded decent little live clips though).

Hey I downloaded it (another torrent) cause I couldn't wait any longer but I'm still going to buy the album. Maybe I'll wait to se if the japanese version has extra songs like "All Is Well" and "Best Behaviour".
