I just wrote a song a capella (which is hard for me to do for some reason--I usually write music first instead of a melody and lyrics). I can't wait to put music to it!!
ASLEEP
If I keep holding my breath
It'll never end
If I keep closing my eyes
I'll find what I need to find
If I save tonight
Somewhere in my pocket
Then all of my rhymes
Will prove I haven't lost it
Chorus:
'Cause everything that I need is in a dream
I'm having constantly
If nothing is really as it seems
I'd rather stay asleep
I'd rather stay asleep
For all the time that I've spent
Wishing I was in bed
I should've been making plans
To use what I already had
If I stay awake
Will I have the strength to face a day
With all that's become true
Proving my wishing's got no use
Repeat Chorus
...asleep, in my bed
Covers pulled over my head
In the dark, where the light
Can make me feel alive
I am fooled by myself
But it always seems to help
In the fake I escape
From reality I hate
Repeat Chorus
For more lyrics of mine, head over to www.shannonthomas.net

The influence of our subconscious on perception is a really interesting topic;
I'm sure you'll come up with music for Asleep as beautiful as your other work

Muchas gracias! As usual, thanks for your support!
:)
I'm going to ask Connor Raus to help me write music for it...he's currently producing some songs for me. The melody has got a very upbeat chorus and needs some electric guitar. I'm sure he can make it incredible. I can't wait!!

If I had to compare with a nessa song, I would compare it with Paradise in terms of meaning(according to my interpretation of course)
anyway:
I save tonight
Somewhere in my pocket
Then all of my rhymes
Will prove I haven't lost it
this part is very beautiful

this part is very beautiful
Indeed. I'm still finding its Shannon's music rather than her lyrics that draw
my attention to the enchanting beauty of her songs. That's certainly where
I would compare her with Nessa at this point. Revelations ahead for me

Funny. Most people say the opposite. Personally, I think my lyrics are usually better than my music. I feel like I can improve a lot in both areas, but ESP. the music. It's always good to hear comments like that, though, 'cause it reminds me that even simple songs can be good! :)

Indeed; Nessa's Ordinary Day is a classic example  There's an OD in you
yet I'm sure Shannon - its been a priviledge to be a part of the process 8)
