artists and labels are starting to steer awat from physical releases because of the popularity of iTunes. I think its sad. Physical releases are so much better. How are we supposed to show our children and grandchildren Nessa? I hardly think we are going to be able to just open up iTunes 67 and play NF.... :?

I hate to be Negative Nancy, but I can't see this making the Billboard Hot 100, which is definitely not a good sign for HaT sales. Right now, it's number 34 on Hot AC radio (http://www.radioandrecords.com/Formats/Charts/HAC_Chart.asp), but it only increased by 6 plays this week and it is playing in the lowest number of stations of all the Hot AC songs. It's not getting any play on CHR/Pop. The only place where it's been successful is the Vh1 countdown, which MAY help her Hot AC airplay.

she's ahead of them in only the hot ac however. sean kingston still hangs in decently in top 40, and rihanna has several up there. and vanessa has yet to make a showing on that chart. and she neeeeeds to make a showing on that chart.
radios need to play 'nolita fairytale' more.
though if she gets to the top of the hot ac, most likely she'll make the top 40...
fortunately, we see progress. even if only in hot ac.

Hopefully NF gains more momentum, I have yet to hear it on the top 40/pop station around here.
All I ever hear on the radio is Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry", it plays like, every 10 minutes, I am so sick of that song. I can sing it backwards, that's how many times I've heard it. :?

I can't imagine it being a "hit" and, at this rate, would be surprised if the album topped 40,000 opening week.

NF is far from a hit, and I can almost guarantee that H&T will not have a strong opening week, it might top Harmonium, and that's being optimistic.
But that's not anything to worry about, plenty of lead off singles from albums never do as well as they are expected to. Like, Fergie's first single from her solo album was London Bridges, which wasn't nearly as successfull as "Big Girls Don't Cry", which is her 4th single and has been topping the charts for quite some time.
So, I think the album will gain momentum with another single and music video, and more promotion. Vanessa showing up on Irv's reality show should help generate sales as well.
Give it time.
Harmonium had the potential to be a hit with songs like "Who's To Say" and "Private Radio", but the label made a premature and ill conceived decision to cut off all efforts on the record.
I hope Irv doesn't give up on Vanessa, because this is a strong album with no fillers and there's a lot of potential for money to be made, so why cut off that potential.

well this isnt too chart related...but ive been checking the Amazon.com saled rank every once and a while and last week it was like over the 2000 mark which isnt too good...and tonite it was at 957....so its rising. :)

Sorry, but there's no reason that she shouldn't be in the Top 100 right now if The Firm had handled this properly. This is sad. I'm wondering whether or not HaT will debut in the top 50 next week.

I mean, look at artists like Fergie, her first single "London Bridges" was a mild success, didn't get much radio play. But her follow up singles especially "Glamorous" and "Big Girl's Don't Cry" have been huuuge hits.
So Irv and Vanessa have plenty of time to churn out a hit and kick in some promotion for the record and the next single they plan to release. It'll take time for this record to blow up, you just have to wait for it to catch on.
It's not going to be instant over night success by any means. But Irv is a smart guy, so I'm sure he has a couple of things up his sleeve.

It's still climbing. AFter her second album flopped, she's not one of those artists radio is going to pick up right away. They may pick it up even after the album is released. Plus, we have Irv's TV show which will give her tons of exposure. I think the record company should release "Hands on Me" to the pop formats around the time the TV show debuts.

Official charts come out Wednesdays, but they don't post until Thursday around noon. Charts come out on Wednesday, so I will look for it then.

Also I saw advertisements for the album on both Billboard and All Music Guide many times=> The INc. is doing a good job promoting the album.

well here in chicago....like I have no heard the song at all! so I go online to the mix to see the last songs they played and I see Vanessa Carlton and I get excited and mad b/c I missed it...than looked at the song name...ATM ugh!!! why ATM! I mean don't get me wrong I like the song but come on! I think I am as irritated with the song as much as she is now!

After her breakup with her long-term boyfriend and the loss of her record deal, 27-year-old pop star Vanessa Carlton starts anew with the release of her third album, "Heroes and Thieves."
The album lacks any hip-hop flavor despite her ties with hip-hop entrepreneur and The Inc. Records label head Irv Gotti.
Instead, the album has a very pop and punk-like style to it. Gotti was astounded by Carlton's talent and Carlton was taken by his passion, and their partnership formed.
For this album, Carlton teamed up with music artist Stevie Nicks, the two haved toured together and have became good friends.
Carlton's breakup, the struggles of life, and how to overcome heartbreak are the major themes of Carlton's lastest endeavor.
The first song, titled "Nolita Fairytale," begins with a steady drumming beat and then is accompanied by Carlton's piano improvisations.
It describes her comeback as being a fairytale. The song falls in the same high-pitched pop sound as singer Hilary Duff.
This song was not a great way to begin the album and was a big disappoining compared to her big hit "A Thousand Miles" from her "Be Not Nobody" album, which received three Grammy nominations.
"Heroes and Thieves" has a very screechy Shakira-like feel to it, and the pitches seemed out of tune at times.
The track "The One" is a pretty song that many women can relate to because it deals with loving someone who is unaware of this love and in turn does not appreciate it.
The best song on the album is "More Than This." It is very inspirational and her vocal range proves very effective.
The song provides great closure for the album except for the unnecessary and random barks at the end of the song.
Overall, the CD is for the punk audience, but all audiences can relate to the themes of heartbreak.
Carlton's musical talents are evident in her creative usage of the piano in each of her songs.
It could have been better, but most of the songs are heartfelt. Again, "Heroes and Thieves" emphasizes the rock and pop style and there is no soulful appeal.
Grade: B-

That info. is wrong. After its peak at #26, the song dropped to #33 and now completely dropped out of the chart. :(

b. record label got it off because hands on me is coming out soon
plus they put up Hands on Me on her myspace (which has more plays than Nolita Fairytale and its only been up a few days)

True...but i think that is because HOM is the first song on the playlist...so itautomatically gets a play when people go to her myspace.

dropped out of Top Hits Online: her least successful single there. Pretty Baby did much better.
Good news: return to Asia Pop Inc. after 3- 4 weeks at #9. I still don't get this chart. My friend told me they placed NF at #67 in Top 100 hits 2007. I don't believe her, though.
