General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Re: V's baby is a...

Hey ya'll!! I happen to be a practicing astrologer of 7 years and am so happy to see Vanessa Carlton with her new baby Capricorn! I thought it would be fun to provide some insight into this little tike's astrological makeup -- does anybody perchance know the exact time (to-the-minute) that she was born? Astrology can provide some answers with birthday alone (as we all know from examining our "sun" signs), but the most individuating details can only be discerned through careful analysis of a chart drawn for the exact moment (and latitude/longitude) of birth.

Anyway, given the birthday we have (January 13, 2015), here are my 2 cents:

Sidney was born, as you know, when the Sun was in the sign of Capricorn. This is what makes her "a Capricorn," but, of course, other planets were located at other signs when she was born and they add different dimensions, colors, and hues to little Sidney's personality, as I will discuss later. But, taken alone, the Capricorn Sun indicates that Sidney is an old soul in a new world and will live a life marked by a sincere sense of responsibility. Capricorns are often very serious in nature, a little pessimistic (i.e. realistic), but not without a fantastically dry sense of humor. The radiate a sense of stability and can make strong and powerful leaders. Capricorn is certainly a much different sign that Leo (which is her mother's sign), indicating that Sidney and her mother will have much to learn from each other as they grow together. Leos are the creative type that want to have fun and express themselves as if all the world's a stage; Capricorn takes life much too seriously for this and recognizes the need for order and structure and time management.

However, despite the somewhat serious undertones I'm mentioning here, Sidney happens to have been born on one of the most fantastic days of January -- indeed, of the whole year (does anybody else remember what they did on January 13/14? it should have been a relatively sparkling time for everyone), for on January 13 Mercury and Venus (both coupled together in the sign of Aquarius) reached out with a golden beam to Uranus in Aries. Now, to be born with Mercury and Venus in the same spot is remarkable enough on its own. Venus is the planet of love, affection, and values; Mercury is the planet of communication and of the mind. They are both located in Sidney's second house of work and resources. Gosh, there is lot to describe here, but basically Sidney's mind will be exceptionally focused on matters of the heart. But since this coupling occurs in the humanitarian sign of Aquarius, Sidney will be more focused on a universal type of love rather than personal romantic interludes. This, in addition to her Capricorn nature, is an indicator she will not be terribly self-centered in her disposition; she will more likely be focused on how she can serve humanity through her work.

This aspect bodes well for finances as well (which you might expect), and that golden beam to Uranus in her 4th house of family/roots/foundation indicates that her family will be more than happy to support her in any humanitarian endeavors. Sidney is likely to have all sorts of new ideas.. a very innovative and inspiring mind -- brilliant -- her selflessness is likely to be rewarded ceaselessly by her family. The flip-side to Uranus in her 4th house, however, is that her family may seem very unpredictable and hard to reach, and there are likely to be many inconsistencies in parenting. However, given the connection to her 2nd house Venus/Mercury, her family will always be there to support, especially financially -- if Sidney wants it, of course!! because Uranus in this placement can also indicate that Sidney will want to break away from the chains of her family. However, I do not see this as being a very stressful part of her life.

Another thing that jumps out in Sidney's chart is Mars in Pisces in close connection with Neptune (also in Pisces) in her 3rd house of mind. Here we see that Sidney has certainly inherited her parents' creativity. Her words will be forceful (Mars) but at the same time nurturing and poetic (Neptune). Saturn in Sagittarius, however, poses a bit of stumbling block where Sidney may get into trouble by being a little too judgmental and critical. She wants to help and make peace with the world and the people around her, but she is likely to be confused by the complications of this process. Healing through her words is not going to be very straight-forward to her, which is why she may turn to the arts in order to express herself.

However, on the whole, I do not see Sidney becoming an artist like her Mom. I could see her dabbling in the arts and even being quite good at it, but ultimately I see Sidney desiring to really build something lasting with her life, like starting a company that maybe helps artists to reach out to parts of the world that desperately need more art and beauty in their lives. I see her taking (appropriate) advantage of the successes of her family and using that foundation to build something meaningful and lasting to humanity.

Just my 2 cents! Hope you like it!

Thanks the the review, sounds like a good set list, and I love her and John's harmonies. Did you meet her at all?

Yes, I met her! She did autographs after the show. I'm really into astrology, so I asked her if she knew her rising sign or moon sign, and she said no... but that she knew her sun sign was Leo. And I said I thought she might know, because I saw on twitter or something that he was into crystals/stones. I asked her how the blue calcite was working, and she said it was working!

oh! She also mentioned during the show that she needs to write TWO more songs for the new album, and will fly back to England to record them. The album will be released next year, she said.

She put on a great show with Skye at a classic venue just south of Denver... I got a few recordings of the new stuff that I'll post later. She did a rendition of "Get Good" with a new instrument she called a "dream machine", which was a gift from Ari Ingber. I got a recording of that, too. She sang two songs with her new fiance (although I think she said she's already legally married? I dunno.. I'll have to listen to the recording again). One of those songs, "In Our Time," is off his band's new album, "Negativity," and also features Vanessa! Is this news to ya'll? I had no idea! (I guess I need to check the boards more often...).

Setlist:
Carousel
Tall Tales for Spring
House of Seven Swords
Take it Easy
Willows
White Houses
A Matter of Time (with John McCauley)
In Our Time (with John McCauley)
Get Good
Unlock the Lock
I Don't Want To Be A Bride
Marching Line
--encore--
A Thousand Miles

I found the contrast to be very weird at first. However, at the end of video, as the last lyrics echoed, I think I had an inkling of the reason behind the jaggedness of the movements - it's supposed to counter the peaceful song, alluding to the other half of waiting: the restlessness, the impatience, the wild desire to reach out and follow instead of just simply waiting.

I dunno. It's my take on it. I like how minimalist it is. Something definitely new and high art.

This is a brilliant theory. Explains why he pounds his prayers on his chest.

I also like how we wait, and wait, and wait for Vanessa to appear.

Anyone in the Union Square area this weekend should definitely stop by the Best Buy.  I bet you'll have a good chance of picking up the album and getting a wristband.

Yep, they automatically included a wristband with my purchase tonight.

omg. I went there tonight to get my CD and wristband. There was a line of only about 20 people by the time the clock struck 12:01, and you'd think I would have had an easy time getting a CD. But NO. Best Buy came fully-prepared with 7 CDs in stock.

So yeah, I have to take my receipt in later to get my CD but at least I got my "wristband."  >:(

Tim, I still have your picture with Skye from Joe's!

Hey, Saba! I would love to see that photo :) ...sent you a pm.
