I kept an eye on the number of views of A thousand miles on Youtube and just today it has received around 2,000 views.  :o

Great topic!

This reminds me of some post I read a long time ago about Fiona Apple and how she, according to one person, used vibrato WAY too much.

I'm also reminded of how the lead singer of Sublime attributed his characteristic vocals to the so-called "damage" from all the pot he smoked.

And then I think of Italian opera singers and how they are un-matched in vocal talent, yet still hold relatively no appeal in my perspective...

Am I the only not not too upset about this? I mean sure, we have to wait a little longer, but so what? Shes worth the wait and at least shes releasing something at all. I'd love to hear them too, but this makes me happy. People are going to love those songs, remember them and buy the album. Its like that when I hear songs I like but don't know the artist. I ALWAYS find them eventually and buy their stuff.

Haha, no, you are definitely not the only one not upset about this. I'm actually quite thrilled! Nessaholics can be a moody bunch....

i imagine the conversation went like this:

manager: Vanessa, how do you feel about opening for Five for Fighting??
Vanessa: Are you kidding me?? I LOVE them! Would be HONORED!
manager: then it's done!

i think some of you should stop freaking out. vanessa doesn't NEED more publicity. in case you haven't noticed, we live in a time where you don't have to be a superstar to be a successful musician. music isn't supposed to be about the money, or the fame, or who's opening or who's closing or anything like that. so many people on this site are so wrapped up in stuff that is seriously not important. I'm just annoyed by all this pointless ranting. Seriously, nessaholics have been making the same complaints for YEARS.

GET OVER IT ALREADY

Carousel on soundcloud is no longer a private track.

you can listen by going to http://soundcloud.com/vanessacarlton
and this also means that posting the song to facebook (for example) will actually let people be able to hear the song if they click that play button..
whereas before if you did that, the song would not play unless they actually went to the link.

yeah, what was the purpose of having it locked before?

did you just quote yourself?

absoultely I did.  I wanted to add to what I had said, but I didn't want to just do a "modify" because there are posts going up every second, so I didn't want it to get missed.  :P

General Vanessa Carlton Discussion / Nolita

I stumbled upon this...

Little Italy/Nolita

Quote
Visitors will find family-style trattorias, specialty food stores, and pastry shops touting scrumptious cannolis that transport you back to Italy. Though you won’t find many Italian-Americans living here, special events such as the Feast of San Genarro, held every September, bring them back to the neighborhood. While its name implies otherwise, Nolita lies within Little Italy. Fashion boutiques, independent labels, and chic bars and restaurants dot Mott and Mulberry Streets, making the area a popular destination, and a less crowded alternative to SoHo.

That's just dumb.
