Title: Eva Cassidy
Post by: Will on September 11, 2003, 11:05:29 pm
I did a search and I was suprised that this talented person didn't have thread in here already. I was talking to Toni tonight and she was telling me about what she was listening to..... in this case, the album "Songbird."
It's pretty much an album of covers, she said.

She was speaking so highly about it... so I just had to check it out. Some of the stuff just makes you cry.... I'm thinking specifically of her version of Sting's "Fields of Gold" or Cindi Lauper's "Time After Time."

Go ahead and check her out. My copy of Songbird is already on it's way! Whohee!

Too bad she never got the recognition she deserved while she was alive. She died in 1996 of skin cancer before anyone really knew who she was.

As far as I know... her music is really popular in England. With good reason too. Check her out... you won't be disappointed.... and it will make your spine tingle and bring tears to your eyes.

Yeah she is really popular over here. My mum has some of her stuff. It never really sounded like my kind of thing, so I never gave her a chance. I'll have to have a proper listen sometime :)

yeah, every album she releases (or her family does) goes to number one in a very short space of time.

Songbird is the most amazing album, very very VERY powerful songs- i listened to them when my grandpa died. The song 'Songbird' and 'Autumn leaves' are also amazing, as is Time After Time. And her version of Fields of Gold rivals Stings'. They are the kind of song that end up having the most enourmous sentimental value.
