I want to ask you guys here at the nessaholics forum if it is possible to rate Vanessa's new single, "Nolita Fairytale". Please post your rating OUT OF 10 STARS.

I want to ask you guys to be OBJECTIVE with your rating, in other words, rate the song from a critic's point of view. I will then analyze the poll results and let you guys know asap. Due date for your ratings is 10 July 2007.

7/10 - The "Hey!" word at the end of the song is bugging me.. they should remove that - sounds too packaged and poppy. Overall the song is great. Love the words and the John Mayer "Waiting on the world to change" and Vanessa's "Private Radio" tone. Great.

It was disappointing and a horrible choice for a lead single.
Most of the time a new VC song means looping for days. This one I listened to once and moved on.

dont fret over it but that just sounds to harsh...I know you have your opinion and I have mine. Thats all I have to say.

I really like the song, and as far as being a lead single - it's the best choice out of the songs we've already heard. I actually like the others we've already heard better, like Put Your Hands On Me and Home. But they're too ballady to be used as a lead off single I think.

I love Nolita, but if she released something more akin to the likes of Private Radio as a single, and something not AS personal per say, it wouldn't receive as much criticism. She already went personal with White Houses, and it kinda slapped her back in the face. :?

I think it's a little too personal and alot of people won't really understand it or relate, but then again I'm so glad V is trying to break that typical radio sound.

Yes, some of the lyrics are cheesy (although I can't help but love the Stevie lyric being the chiffonhead I am lol), but they get a clear point across and I think they're bittersweet in their own way.

I have to say though, I think Hands on Me would have made a more radio friendly single.

Im sure if she changed the lyrics, this could be another Ordinary Day/1000 Miles sounding track.

I was listening to 1000 miles the other day and I was like "...I kind of dont like this." Well, compared to her other stuff, of course.

i think it'll do well. people dont care about lyrics to begin with, they listen to the music. So I think this song will rocketh. :D

Good point. for example I own and love Fall Out Boy's From under Cork tree CD, but I didn't understand or know much of the lyrics until a year or so later. The melodies are so catchy, but the lyrics are swallowed. Once I read the lyrics I felt like i won a prize, because they are really smart!

They apparently aren't making a music video for it and they haven't even promoted it at all.... They probably are waiting until September to release another one possibly HOM and then make a music video for it, and it'll be all over MTV. For whatever reason they didn't do that for NF; maybe it was just to see how well it would do or just to get a song out there.... But it is hard to believe that they released NF without a music video and most importantly promotion, i mean if you go to mtv.com you cant even see that her new single is out, it blows my mind....

How do you know they arent making a music video for it?
Music videos dont usually come out at the same time as the song usually a few weeks after...so we could still get one...

Getting stuck in my head. It's good. I think commercial people will like it and maybe get further into the rest of her album. It's good. It's good. Defniitely not any worse than 6.
