My prob is that I cannot see my adress bar. Yes it has a check by it, but It's scrunched up all the way to the right of my screen, so I can't type in anything. I try dragging it sideways but nothing will drag. What the hell is wrong? I don't even know how it got that way. Any suggestions?

Are you using IE6 or IE7?
-
IE6
-
Oh =/ Haven't used IE6 in a long time... I don't remember its interface, sorry.
-
I think you have to drag it down. I think I did that once and I spent a long time getting it back
-
The complete fix: get Firefox (http://getfirefox.com).
-
or just download the new version IE7...but yeah no firefox...way better.
-
Yea I tried dragging, but there's nothing to drag on. I'll just download a new browser I guess. God, cpus are so complicated.

Right click on it and uncheck "lock toolbar."
Then you should be able to drag it back down.

my god thank you. i bet i could have figured that out eventually. i wonder how it got locked in the first place... Thanks for your help!

another prob. my background isn't showing up on my desktop. I go to my preferences to choose, but it's totally unclickable. Is it locked somehow too? even when i assign a picture to be used as a background, it doesn't show up. it's just blue.

Try to right-click on your desktop then go to properties.
On the "Desktop" tab, go to "Customize Desktop", then to the "Web" tab.
Try unchecking the boxes there, if they are checked. ("Lock desktop items" or "My Current Home Page")

none of them were checked. :( What the hell is wrong. Thank you for the suggestion.
