The whole point of the intro to the Nolita Fairytale video is to distance Vanessa from ATM. I mean, it's right infront of your face, what would lead you to think otherwise.

Honestly, some of the people on this forum...

Like most people have said, I think  it's a terrible idea to re-release ATM, even if it is "spiced up". V is trying to break away from her ATM image, as is evident if you watch the opening sequence of the "Nolita Fairytale" video (her ATM piano gets run over by a taxi).

I think she shouldn't revisit the past, and push on to the future  :D

V has moved away from ATM and she should not rerelease it. Even if Nolita Fairytale proves to be unsuccessful I think Home as a second single might pick things up. Home is an amazing ballad AT LEAST equal to ATM in my opinion and I think it would do well on radio. Why would she go back instead of releasing other songs that could be hits?

The funny farm's starting to get a little over crowded though. We've been shipping people there a lot more recently.

That's probably the dumbest thing I've heard all weekend.  She wants to get away from her ATM image, not go back to it.  So remaking ATM is not gonna do her any good if she's trying to get away from that.
You know?

Title: Re-release of ATM
Post by: IcyStorm on September 02, 2007, 08:35:16 am
Re-release of ATM = popularity of H&T? I don't see the logic in that.

Re-releasing ATM would let people remember Vanessa, but it won't fully entice them to go learn about her other music. It also will not notify them of Heroes and Thieves, so I don't see where you're coming from.
Title: Re-release of ATM
Post by: garry_coombs on September 02, 2007, 09:03:02 am
If they were to release any song from previous albums then it would have to be 'Who's to say' as no one has heard it (due to A & M  ) yet but it is probably one of the greatest songs ever written by anyone.

But I doubt it would happen as VC is all about moving forward, not looking back.

Vanessa would become a joke by re-releasing ATM. There is enough people that think of her as a one hit wonder, releasing ATM again would just make that worse.

Alright, then what the hell is your problem. You're consistently obnoxious and rude to everyone on the forum, especially on the sheet music forum where you thumbed your nose at the help people were trying to offer you, even if it wasn't exactly what were you looking for, you should be grateful that people took their time to offer you the help that they could.

Vanessa is a multi-platinum selling, three time grammy nominated musician who's been in the industry for five years now & is about to release her third studio album.

I guess being a "one hit wonder" can't be all that bad, can it? ;)

You can have whatever opinion you want, but do you really have to voice it so negatively?  The last thing we need to do as Nessaholics is expect the least for her career; we're here to support her.

Okay, you started this topic to talk about her re-releasing ATM.  Then you called her a one-hit wonder.  So you want her to re-release the track that made her a one-hit wonder?  How does that make any sense?

Being supportive and being realistic are completely different things. Of course I HOPE this album is a hit for Vanessa. But after her last album flopping and her being out of the spotlight for the past two years I honestly don't see that happening.

Being supportive ISN'T saying on a fan message board "H&T is gonna flop."  Please keep stuff like that to yourself, unless you can really back it up with something other than "Harmonium flopped". Negativity really is NOT necessary, or helpful.  Instead of talking about how it's going to flop, go out and try to help promote it however you can as a fan.

You didn't answer the one-hit wonder question, btw.

Quite frankly I don't have time to go out and "promote" a record. If people like it, they'll buy it. Me or 200 or 1,000 people aren't gonna make a difference.

Or they'll download it; records just aren't selling like they used to.

In any case, Harmonium flopped sales-wise because of poor marketing and weak promotion by her label. Is it really her fault? I thought "Private Radio" was a much better choice for a first single.

You can't exactly say Heroes & Thieves is on its way to flopping yet... Gotti won't simply give up on V so easily. He's put too much time and effort into her for her to fail.

ok she could not help Harmonium's sales it was her records label fault hence her leaving A&M and how do you know that Heroes and Thieves is going to way too? i dont think Harmonium not selling well should allow it to be called flopping...I mean, if memory serves, it was critically acclaimed ,wasn't it???
On another note,I'm really sick of the notion that when an album doesn't sell well, it's unsuccessful...look at some of today's contemporary artists: some of the stuff i see out there is ridiculously bad and untalented... yet alot of these sell well...I consider harmonium as much more of a success than some those people's work, as their work might nto even have the talent (or acclaim) to even be worthy of that word....

Her album 'flopped' because of the lack of effort put in by A&M records

And as for her third album flopping, there is too much hype about, I feel a buzz building as the date comes closer and closer, I really think it'll be a hit, at the end of the day it's adverts that makes sales but it's talent that gets an amazing group of fans who are devoted to her.

If you are a fan, should be be backing the album to be a success, as if fans don't believe it, how can anyone?

I was aiming for the shock value. :)  And hopefully speechlessness.

Why don't you aim for a life. Clearly, you don't have one.

You're right here with me my friend.    Was a good comeback, you have to admit.     Life is going to get better soon.  I'm just waiting on a few things to happen.  Many businesses are closed today.  What makes you have so much free time?  :)

I didn't insult anyone. But they're all like verbally gangbanging me. It makes me sad.

That's what the report button is for. If someone is being out of line, let us deal with it instead of replying back.

I haven't been doing anything out of line. I've just been expressing my opinion whether its negative or positive. If that's too much for people to handle for some reason, please let me know and I will stop.  But I am not trying to intentionally irritate/anger people. I'm here to discuss my views on Vanessa Carlton. =)
