I got Blender in the mail today. (Kanye West cover) There's quite an interesting Q&A with Vanessa in there, Page 86.
A couple interesting excepts:
"It's the right time for me to do a complete frontal nude shot, basically."
"I've been through tours where I was smoking pot every day. I'm more of a stoner than anything else, but I've tried everything, except heroin."
Q: What's the one drug you'll never do again? "I'll do them all again!"
Nice Nessa :) Gotta love the honesty. She stayed mum on the subject of Jenkins.
I'd scan it but scanner is broke and digicam doesnt usually come through that well.
-
LOL.
I will have to pick this up and/or wait for someone to scan the full thing, sounds interesting!
-
i fucking love her hahahahaha rock on vanessa rock on
-
that pot quote dissapointed me. I pesonally don't like people who do that. As long as she keeps making music though...
-
I used the digicam, it's pretty readable.

Enjoy!

same here.
it seems like she's too classy for it, but...whatever.
and she said she's tried ALL of it?
seriously?
METH? X?
if so, then wow.
-
Thanks a lot!
-
Thanks BV!
The pic is hot, too!
-
nice can you go and buy it at the store now??!?!?!?!?.....waiting so I can go and run out to the store to get it.
-
and thanks, too, of course!
DEM LEGZ GIRL!!! DEM LEGZ!!!
-
Oh Vanessa! This article is pretty funny, thanks for posting.
-
I love her! She's so hot. Blender has always been really good to her promotional wise.....I wonder if they'll do a full page review of her album like they did for Harmonium, they're pretty positive towards, that's what got me into reading blender.
-
she is amazing
-
i love you V
-
Thanks BV!
Your next mission is to use someone else's scanner for us! haha ;)
-
haha, that was a good Q&A. It showed her more "raw" than usual.
-
I used the digicam, it's pretty readable.
Enjoy!
thanks!!
I was able to read it all :D
-
haha i guess we answered the question of whether or not she smoked pot.... for all you non believers anyway lol
-
Cool interview, thank you for scanning that!
-
thanks for sharing. I'm not a fan of the drug use, but appreciate the honesty.
-
i'm totally against the use of pot & any other drugs, but for some reason i cannot stop laughing
-
yeah, I think this article and the MTV Cribs with her booze vodka kinda ruined the perfect image of her I had in my head, but whatever. She is still awesome!
-
Oh, Vanessa is great. I want to smoke a blunt with her. =]
But a nude shoot.... really? Really? Please to the dear lord *NO*, IRV what have you done?
-
Well, I guess we can look forward to the rehab years.
-
Oh, Vanessa is great. I want to smoke a blunt with her. =]
But a nude shoot.... really? Really? Please to the dear lord *NO*, IRV what have you done?
I sense that she was being sarcastic.
Good article, though. If you didn't that V smoked pot, then you're a little behind the times.
-
The main thing is that, she's not on pot anymore (I hope.) It's her life and besides, isn't the music really important. It's amazing how V can still stay so beautiful after doing like drugs all the time and stuff. I mean don't people lose their beauty after doing shizzle like that? Hmm, sorry. I don't wanna start an argument or anything.
-
I don't think she did them like a super long time I don't know thats my theory, not an expret on that.
-
I'm not a treky, but I read star trek novels like water when they are around. Come on! Good Sci-fi is like the best thing around!
-
Did she say to him "be quiet".
-
yup, she did.
-
This is my least favorite interview of her so far.
-
I told you all she was gonna do a nude shoot.
-
Personally, I felt alot of sarcasm in that interview...especially when she mentioned doing a nude shoot...I thought she said that as a measure of how far she's come in age: she isnt a girl anymore...
as far as the drug references.... well...i cant say i'm happy with it..but i knew before....She'll still be my idol despite this...i mean obviously she has it under control....and she did use the past tense, like beforethedawn said....
perhaps she's also dissatisfied with how she's been stereotyped..
-
yeah that was sarcasm... I mean come on the "horses" comment to fill in the stereotype... the nude shot...
shes just being so V... :P
I love her...
-
I could only read the right part of the interview (the other is too blurry) but I like this part: "I'm all about the ass beats."
That was hilarious! ROFL
-
what a god awful photo
-
I could only read the right part of the interview (the other is too blurry) but I like this part: "I'm all about the ass beats."
That was hilarious! ROFL
The left part...
You started playing the piano when you were 2 and ballet dancing at 9.Did you ever have a rebellious phase- or were you always a precorious twerp? Are you saying that I am a goody two shoes?I also rode horses too if I can fill out the stereotype. My rebellion came a little late, when I was 17,I'd been living in a dorm in New York City for ballet school since I was 14, and I hadn't really taken advantage of that. One day I was just like "Holy shit. This is the Devil's playground!"
Whats the most trouble you got into?I didn't get arrested or anything, I just started partying. And I dropped out of ballet school,It's such a regimented life.If you're going to tell me to do something,I'm going to question it.
You're into Anne Rice and J.R.R. Tolkien, and you recorded part of your last album at George Lucas's Skywalker Ranch. On a scale of one to Nimoy, how much of a geek are you?Um, what is Nimoy?
Well you're cooler than we thought. He's the guy who played Spock on Star Trek.I dont like Star Trek.I was never into space.I like the old:the Shine.Vampires.I love elves and hobbits. At Skywalker Ranch I did see the original Lightsaver, though,Is that what its called? The sword thing?
Close enough for a girl.Kanye West called your 2002 hit "A Thousand Miles" "that white song that all black people like."Do you have a big African-American fan base? A lot of rappers seem to like it.I was backstage at a radio show and Treach from Naughty by Nature came up to me and said "You're going to be my next baby mama."I thought to myself this is hitting the buzzer for a certain type of guy!"
Your new album,Heroes & Thieves, is coming out on Irv Gotti's hip hop label, The Inc,How did a nutorious playa like Gotti court you?His pitch was this:"Youre the motherfucking shit."I was like "Great! I've been waiting for that reaction my whole life."Its funny ,he has this car called a Maybach, and the first time he came to pick me up,I called it a Maytag by accident.I called a $500,000 car a dishwasher. But he was OK with that.He calls ithis Maytag now.
-
Thanks Joey!
Actually, I was too lazy to try to sharpen the left part!
-
This is my least favorite interview of her so far.
Mine too. I don't know, part of me doesnt want to believe she does drugs and what not(Besides, like someone said on another thread, she can't really do that since she's a runner and dancer ya know?)
Tho I'm glad that some of the interview is hopefully sarcastic XD;.
-
oh man
just when i thought nessa couldnt get anymore awesomer, she just got more awesome! wah-hooooooooooo
best interview... EVAR
-
well thats not really fair... She has always drank. Drinking is just as unhealthy for you. People forget that alcohol is a depressant drug. I'm a healthy young adult, i smoke occasionally but still run under a 7 minute mile everytime i'm on the track. I think it can be a vice just like anything else...like ice cream or a beer etc.
-
hmm. Im slightly disappointed. I mean all drugs? :/
still, its nice to see that interview. Thanks =]
-
yay! she said something slightly nice about britney. :) that she's rooting for her. awww. love vanessaaaaaaaaa. and brit obviously.
-
I think she may having been joking about the drugs part. Either way if she wasn't it wouldn't suprise me....LOT'S of people have done drugs...they just don't talk about it.
-
Thanks Joey!
Actually, I was too lazy to try to sharpen the left part!
Yeah, thanks Joey! I was too lazy to even try to read the left part - my eyes just started glossing over in the attempt.
-
Honest to God I hope she's joking about the drugs part :(
She was this kind of role model for me...
I have to say I didn't/don't like this interview/photo
ah well. tis HER life
-
eh I am sure she was kidding about some of the stuff it's blender mag. she has to be a bit edgy or whatnot. I would not worry about it.
-
I am really disappointed :( :( :(
-
It's hard to tell sarcasm in print. I hope she's kidding, but it is what it is. It's something i don't agree with, but I still enjoy her music.
-
Oh, Vanessa is great. I want to smoke a blunt with her. =]

I sense that she was being sarcastic.
Good article, though. If you didn't that V smoked pot, then you're a little behind the times.
I definitely knew. ;-)
-
Well, I guess we can look forward to the rehab years.
Going to rehab for pot would be so stupid.

She did mention other things, right? Thank you. :) It was also a short quip.

They Tried To Make Her Go To Rehab
She Said No, No, No

That is going to be the theme song for so many drug misers for a long time.

 Are you kidding me? I'm very calm. Maybe it is you who is aggravated. Take a toke and relax, dude. :) I've stated my views on pot here before, and given the track record there is no reason for you to react like you are doing.
-
i don't respect this interview.
new label, new image maybe? that would be so sell out
-
how would that be a sell out?!?!?
shes still writing and doing music the same style she has always done going on a hip hop label and not becoming some hip hop person to me shows how true she is to herself and to her image she has always tried to keep in line.
-

I'm not reacting. I just said to calm down. That's all. And I would say it again but you seem to think that's offensive to you. I guess I can't speak without offending you.
-
who cares what shes smoking or taking. honestly, i love it, that she was so fucking honest. honestly the people that are flipping out over this, you're being a little ridiculous. it is not your body, it's hers. and for those who are "dissapointed" get over it. you liked v's music before you read this article, it still shouldnt make a difference, you arnt at this forum to be best friends with her, youre at this forum to support real music, and a real artist. im sorry this message sounds mean.
-
I am so upset about this right now I can't believe she would do things like that! OMG this interview is so disgusting
-
maybe she's not human..

I'm not offended. I know this all stems from the comments I made a week or so ago and that you are still mad about that, but I'm not mad about anything. I'm calm, not offended, or angry. The comments I made the other day were aimed at people labeling vanessa as chick and gay guy music just because the people on the board are a majority of the same. If vc wants her music labeled as such it is all good, but I still don't agree. Those comments might have been out of line and unfairly aimed at you, but as I said, I've been down that road before; and think those kind of arguments and conversations and mentality made by gay men and women are just as unfair and out of line. It is to the effect that if you label VC's music as gay then it sets a precedent for straight guys that there is something wrong with them if they listen to it --just like all the other guys around you. It has just been a direction of conversation that has been going on for a while and I spoke up about it. I don't care what people think is feminine or masculine, but alot of people do...
I've even had an almost identical conversation with gay friends that grakthis, noelle, and portionforfoxes are having about gay marriage in another thread.
So in essence you are the one who is offended, aggravated, and mad at my less than eloquent comments. But as stupid and barbaric as my comments were, I was just trying to express my point of view, which isn't as against gay rights and freedoms as it may have came across by such.
-
i honestly think that anyone who is surprised when they find out about a musician doing drugs is naive.
i say kudos to nessa for being candid. she didn't say she does them all the time and she doesn't have the reputation as a party girl or someone who's OD'd or something.
i have friends who have tried coke, ecstasy, etc, and though i would never make those choices for myself, i don't disrespect them for trying it once or twice. people are inherently curious. in the music [celebrity] world, it is much easier to indulge your curiosities.
*shrug* i just can't believe anyone is shocked. to whomever said that it ruined their perfect image of her (pg 1?), she isn't perfect anyway so that's more of your issue (holding her on a pedestal) than hers.
-
I am so upset about this right now I can't believe she would do things like that! OMG this interview is so disgusting
don't get all sobby, she's a grown woman, she experiments, she's obviously not completely addicted to it
-

No one said they liked her music any less or that they weren't her fans anymore because of the article, you are taking our comments out of context. And if some of us are disappointed, and want to express it, how does that bother you?

Friends.
-
i think it's disgusting. i don't care who she is. It's disgusting and their is no denying that.
-
yeah... there is, actually. disgusting isn't exactly the word i'd choose.
-
am i the only one who thought she was joking? lol
-
Well i thought there was a lot of sarcasm in that interview, it's not like she always says stuff like that... :?
-
i honestly think that anyone who is surprised when they find out about a musician doing drugs is naive.

True that sister. Lol.
-
I have to agree with Amberbeads, because I was thinking the exact thing after reading it. I thought to myself I was naive for actually thinking V would be so "perfect." She still a pure artist, but of course she might do drugs or other things. I don't care, I just hope for her to continue on in her music and stay different from the mainstream.
-

actually, you're right. i was taking things out of context.
-
Your message wasn't directed exactly at me but I'll just clarify:
I'm not on these boards just because I love her music, which I do; I always looked up to her as a role model for me for what I did, and now it's a bit harder to think of her in that way. I know tons of musicians do it but I was just wishfully hoping that she'd be different. I have to say that I AM disappointed and if you can't understand that, I guess you just shouldn't try to :) peaceee~
-
yeah its hard to find artists who stay out of those things or celebs you look up to. we just gotta remember not to put them on a pedestal. unless your a fan of someone who convinces people they are not like most celebs who do drugs and that they are squeaky clean then we can judge them if we found out they did do drugs in my opinion.
-

Haha, that's ok, my response was a bit bitchy too and totally unnecessary.
-
It's good that you's are realising, that although the habit may be bad, that she controls it, and i'm sure she's old enough to know what shes doing
-
I want to do drugs with Vanessa.
-
Well according to NolitaUnicorn ,i'm a crazed druggie, so i might as well join Vanessa
-

Exactly. I mean, if you're looking for that, try Mandy Moore.
-
lmao i dont understand why people look up to these celebs and stuff, i mean are thier lives more important then yours? And most of them don't even give a shit. worry about yourself, get over it, and stfu.
-
I personally think Lindsay Lohan is an amazing role model. Like... nose candy and car accidents, shit, who wouldn't want to be like that.
-
I personally think Lindsay Lohan is an amazing role model. Like... nose candy and car accidents, shit, who wouldn't want to be like that.
Haha then you wouldn't mind joining me and nessa to smoke some dope on the front porch? Cause of the huge druggy i am :D

ahhh, I love the topic starters avatar :D
But back to topic, Vanessa was slightly joking, no need to take it seriously [at least i think she was SLIGHTLY joking].
mmm drugs, yum yum
-
Drugs do taste good, especially when put in brownies. Yummy. lol
-
Marajuana fudge brownies, yum what an indulgence. Hehe
-
I made a poll regarding the drug-related comments:

heroesandthieves. what did nolitaunicorn say?
and anyway on the topic i was slightly disappointed just cause a relitive of mine takes drugs so whenever i even see the word it kinda worries me :/ but its not like shes doing it now..so no worries.
-
Pot = meh, whatever. A lot of people do it and they seem fine to me.
But the other stuff? I'm not shocked as she dated Stephan Jenkins, an obvious druggie, for about 4 years. Hopefully she won't end up in rehab, that's all. lol.
...or creating bad music as a result. But I don't see any problems so far.
-
...or creating bad music as a result. But I don't see any problems so far.
Well, I'm not so impressed with her new stuff... but I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with drugs, lol. I'll save my opinion of her music until I can hear the album though.
-
how fun would it be to smoke with Vanessa!! man.. that'd be so cool.
-
how fun would it be to smoke with Vanessa!! man.. that'd be so cool.
that would be so stupid
-
I think it'd be funny to smoke with Stevie Nicks. I don't do it myself really, so I'm not saying I'd jump at the chance, but she's so out there I bet she is interesting high... or is she ever sober? lol
-
i recently started smoking.. and I seriously think of the best things while i'm stoned
-
heroesandthieves. what did nolitaunicorn say?

Well she just said things like she thinks i'm jealous of her, because i told her not to sob over nessa taking drugs.
-
i recently started smoking.. and I seriously think of the best things while i'm stoned
Do they just seem like the best at the time? =P
-
well i ussually write them down if they are good. Then i look at them later on.. and i'm telling you, GENIUS
-
wow..i dont understand people who do drugs. they are illegal. thats breaking the law..simple as that.
do you guys honestly have nothing better to do than drugs? seriously, drink whatever but drugs can really mess you up. I thought Vanessa fans were smarter than that.
So glad my idol isn't Vanessa. ya'll are gonna end up like lindsay lohan and britney spears.
-
That's a little stereotypic now isn't it? You can't just claim ALL nessa fans take drugs, i know i don't, i don't even drink. :?
-
That's a little stereotypic now isn't it? You can't just claim ALL nessa fans take drugs, i know i don't, i don't even drink. :?
I don't take drugs and I don't drink anymore either- but Laura didn't actually say that ALL Vanessa fans take drugs... :)

But she didn't make an attempt to say a CERTAIN few fans or anything like that, so i was under the impression of all nessa fans were targeted by that.

It is breaking the law every time someone in LA or NYC talks on their cell phone while driving. It is breaking the law every time someone under 21 has even a sip of alcohol. It is breaking the law when high schoolers smoke cigarettes. Downloading an mp3. Using someone else's wifi without their permission. And smoking pot.
These things happen ALL the time, but I don't see anyone freaking out over people talking on their cellphones. I am 20 years old and a six-pack of beer in my fridge. Does anyone want to lecture me, please?
And no, I have nothing better to do than drugs. I'm also stupid. I certainly am not on the brink of graduating college and attending cooking school. I don't manage a restaurant or hang out with friends and take care of my hamster. I just sit around and smoke pot all day long because if you smoke pot, it automatically means you're a stoner and you spend all your time doing it
-
seriously, drink whatever but drugs can really mess you up. I thought Vanessa fans were smarter than that.
Um, darling... drinking is also a drug since alcohol is a drug.
Yeah.
-
Alcohol abuse can wreak much more havoc on your body and state of mind than pot.
Obviously hard drugs can kill you and really screw you up quicker than alcohol consumes most people , but it's not as if alcohol is an innocent drug. Not by any means.
And coupled with hard drugs, alcohol is the tipping point for a lot of people.
-
seriously, drink whatever but drugs can really mess you up. I thought Vanessa fans were smarter than that.
yeah.. tell that to my alcoholic brother... because alcoholism is a recognized DISEASE. but i mean, alcohol isn't a drug no not at all.
-
Actually alcohol is a drug, it's a depressant/downer. I can't really tell if that was sarcasm on your part though Nanc77.
-
haha yeah i was being sarcastic.. but thanks for the back up lol
-
boy, i dont think ive ever seen so many people get so worked up about a little drug use before
-
I KNOW ALCOHOL IS A DRUG, i'm an aj mclean fan & it messed him up a lot. nick carter is an alcoholic right now & he gets really messed up when he drinks & i know stuff i shouldn't know about him because of his drinking. i know it messes other people up too. I should've added don't get wasted every weekend to the point where alcohol becomes a drug.
That's a little stereotypic now isn't it? You can't just claim ALL nessa fans take drugs, i know i don't, i don't even drink. :?
I don't take drugs and I don't drink anymore either- but Laura didn't actually say that ALL Vanessa fans take drugs... :)
exactly, I just said I'm glad Vanessa isn't my idol. didn't mean all vc fans did drugs, i'm just talking about the idiots that were saying they would think its cool doing pot with Vanessa or whatever.

Yeah people break other laws, but that still doesn't mean doing illegal drugs is right either.
And i'm sorry, thats great you have more of a life than just drugs. but seriously, why do drugs when you can do other things that wont harm you instead? you really think drugs wont eventually mess you or your future child up if you ever decide or have an unplanned child?
-
It is breaking the law every time someone in LA or NYC talks on their cell phone while driving.
I just sit around and smoke pot all day long because if you smoke pot, it automatically means you're a stoner and you spend all your time doing it

... I guess this is the point in the conversation where I remind everyone that V can have her life and we can have ours. Passing judgment on V or each other because of what we do in our own time really won't get us anywhere. :)

Fine, but i'm still not sorry for stating my opinion. i was just asking her questions..cuz it CAN eventually harm her. and her baby if she ever decides to have one or an unplanned one.

It is breaking the law every time someone in LA or NYC talks on their cell phone while driving. It is breaking the law every time someone under 21 has even a sip of alcohol. Basically, I choose to do it sometimes when I want to drink or party with my friends, but I have a sensitive stomach so I try not to drink super-often. It gives me the same effect without the stomachache (or calories).
I'm definitely under the impression that drugs will harm an unborn child, I took Health class. Well, I'm pretty sure birth control will prevent against unplanned pregnancy. Also, I am on a required medication that is ranked as Pregnancy Category X by the FDA. That means if I get pregnant severe deformations will occur so I think that rules out the concept all together, don't you?
I didn't say doing drugs is right, but I think you should get equally on your high horse about other things that are illegal if you're going to come down on pot so bad. Besides, as I like to say, don't knock it til you try it, though I know that's extremely unlikely.
I am an intelligent person and when I make the decision to smoke I think it through. I would never smoke it while pregnant, or if my job gave drug tests, or outside or around kids. My whole point is, though marijuana is an illegal drug, it is still possible to do it responsibly (just like alcohol) and not destroy your whole life.
Obviously, Vanessa hasn't destroyed her life (with pot or any drug) and, like Jen said, why is it so important to everyone else? We choose to worship these celebrities, but then we get upset when they're imperfect. If you're looking for something "perfect" to look up to, try religion. That's why it's there.
And btw, the whole smoking pot with V would be so awesome! thing is dumb... She would sit around and laugh just as much as the next person you could get high with. I guess I just don't see why that would be SO COOL. I'd rather do it with my friends because we are comfortable around each other... How do you know Nessa wouldn't bail on you if the cops showed up? Or get really paranoid? Or eat all your groceries?
Laura, I suppose overall I appreciate the concern.
Foxes, thanks for sticking up for me.

lol, great
Did you know in the past few years I actually was a small part of helping someone get off serious drug addiction? I actually went to NA meetings with them in support. I've never been into drugs enough for it to be a problem, except maybe tobacco(if you would even call that a drug.)
Everyone was basically telling them they could never quit because they had tried and failed and seemed to just be talking and not doing. But now they, as far as I know, are off of drugs completely. working a good job, and pulling their life together.
-
V and John Mayer aren't the only people who talk about drug use to Rolling Stone, I remember I was shocked a few years back to read an article they did on Rob Thomas. The guy talked about doing hard drugs and going to Disney World while he was tripping. I forget exactly which drug it was, I think either coke or meth or lsd. Anyway, I don't know why people think they should be talking about this sort of thing to national magazines. It's one thing to engage in a little recreational drug use, but when you brag about it - it's kind of stupid, imo.
-
yeah for sure, John has mentioned more than once that he regrets that interview out of anything he's ever done.

wow..i dont understand people who do drugs. they are illegal. thats breaking the law..simple as that.
do you guys honestly have nothing better to do than drugs? seriously, drink whatever but drugs can really mess you up. I thought Vanessa fans were smarter than that.
It is breaking the law every time someone in LA or NYC talks on their cell phone while driving. It is breaking the law every time someone under 21 has even a sip of alcohol. I don't manage a restaurant or hang out with friends and take care of my hamster. I just sit around and smoke pot all day long because if you smoke pot, it automatically means you're a stoner and you spend all your time doing it
Actually, someone did freak the fuck out on me for talking on my phone once, and I'll admit that some people probably shouldn't do it. My grandmother, for example, can't do anything else while talking on the phone; it's like she's in a different world. But I digress.
There are a lot of laws about some really little things. There's now a law in Tennessee that says you can't smoke in a restaurant. But when someone lights up, that doesn't make them a criminal. It's when they get mad and punch the waiter who comes by and asks them to put it out that it escalates to that.
I think a lot of the little laws are there just to try to keep things from escalating. Someone talking on a phone might run over someone. Someone drunk might do the same if they drive. Someone on drugs may kill someone or themselves because their judgement and mental state are altered. But most people who smoke pot don't escalate do other things. Many do, sure, but most don't, at least not most that I've known, and I've known quite a few. Hell, even I've helped burn a couple down in my day.
But there is really nothing wrong with just being drunk or talking on a phone or smoking a little something. Other people are just worried, and in many cases rightly so, that something bad could be prevented by making rules against it.
Really, though, you can't honestly believe that smoking a little pot is as bad as being addicted to cocaine because drugs are drugs and breaking the law is breaking the law. That would be putting so much faith in something put together by so many different people in different places at different times for different reasons that you could never really know what it is you're trying to be true to.
My point is that some things are not worth getting upset over and you should neither criticize someone else for what they do nor should you be preoccupied with others' criticism of you. No one is perfect and no one person anywhere, regardless of who they are or how much you believe in them, is ever going to be 100% worthy of serving as a role model.

it's called the gateway drug for a reason, that's all i gotta say
God I hate this debate............I really do.
Anyway you're right--there IS a reason it's called a gateway drug: back in the 1930s the hemp industry threatened to cut into the profits of the oil industry who were hellbent on capitalizing on fossil fuels, not to mention all those loony pot-smoking Mexicans the government needed a quick way kick out of the country after their "services" were no longer needed.
The solution:
Run a massive anti-marijuana propaganda campaign comprised of mis-information, racism and outright lies (which have stuck to this day) to outlaw it.
Read a history book, maam.
Marijuana Facts:

Also, that website is the biggest load of shit I've seen in quite some time.
Come on people WAKE UP
Marijuana is NOT dangerous...........like.....AT ALL. If fact, more people have been turn on to harder drugs after the use of ALCOHOL than marijuana ever has. Not to mention all the thousands of deaths directly attributed to alcohol...
You know how many people have ever died of a weed overdose?:
ZERO
-
Just because you can't die from an overdose doesn't mean it's not dangerous or bad for you.
-
You are correct.
However, it so happens it isn't dangerous. In fact, there is overwhelming scientific evidence that it's an excellent medicine for MANY ailments, and for treating chronic pain.
Of course, you won't find much (if any) research about it in the US thanks to the DEA pigs. Fortunately there are much brighter people elsewhere in the world conducting good scientific research. Don't just accept the lies. Read about it. Do your OWN research...
I'll be doing mine in my basement tonight ;)

good one.
NOT.
Her support of liberal democrats has been well publicized.
As for pot being dangerous, Many people have died from car accidents from people being high. Pot kills brain cells. Marijuana cigarettes are many times more dangerous and cancer causing then regular cigs. I can post links later but I don't have time now.

i didnt say she isnt liberal, but you said that everyone who does pot is liberal.
Tell me where I said that? You can't because I never did. Another thing you don't realize (not you but people who say pot isn't dangerous) is they don't have a good way of testing in the field for marijuana use like they can for alcohol and other drugs. So there are a lot of people that are getting into car accidents and dying because of pot but they can't tell because they either can't detect the marijuana or as is common most people that do pot also are alcohol abusers or abuse other drugs so the pot is masked.

marijuana is a drug... alcohol is a drug....
tell me why there is any difference between the two.. They both are drugs and depressants. Why is drinking so acceptable however? because society tells you it's okay, regardless of the thousands of people who die alcoholics, the oustanding numbers that result from alcohol related deaths and the millions of dollars the governments profits from taxing the hell out of a deadly vice.
War on drugs? Please. Spare me the lies.
everyone can make their own decision, but i know i've made mine.
-

But there's numerous amounts of research that confirm. The only 'research' that says pot is bad is the government's strewed studies they do...
Also, heroin is a human-made drug. Pot is a natural herb from the ground, not from mixing chemicals.

Marijuana Boosts Brain Cell Growth
Most illicit drugs like opiates, alcohol and cocaine decrease the generation of new neurons in the brain, but marijuana appears to have the opposite effect on this process. Researchers from the University of Saskatchewan have published their findings on marijuana's effects on the brain in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. On top of the drug's promotion of brain cell growth - called neurogenesis - marijuana also appeared to have antidepressant and anti-anxiety properties.
A team, led by researcher Xia Zhang, worked with rats that were given a synthesized version of marijuana twice per day for 10 days. After this period, the rats displayed evidence of new neuron creation in the hippocampus, an area of the brain involved in developing memories.
Zhang's team suspected the new brain cells might also be associated with a reduction in anxiety and depression, as previous studies had indicated medications used to treat anxiety and depression achieve their effect this way.
The researchers explored the possible antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects of the drug on the rats by exposing them and a control group of rats to a number of environmental/food based tests. The tests indicated that the rats who were given the marijuana displayed both a reduction in anxiety behaviors and indications of antidepressant effects.
The researchers conclude that there is a link between increased adult neurogenesis (brain cell regeneration) and modified behavior following cannabinoid treatment. They say the findings are important because they demonstrate the positive roles cannabinoids and their receptors play in brain processing and medicine.

oh, it kills brain cells eh?

Large Study Finds No Link between Marijuana and Lung Cancer
By David Biello
marijuana, cannabis
The smoke from burning marijuana leaves contains several known carcinogens and the tar it creates contains 50 percent more of some of the chemicals linked to lung cancer than tobacco smoke. A marijuana cigarette also deposits four times as much of that tar as an equivalent tobacco one. Scientists were therefore surprised to learn that a study of more than 2,000 people found no increase in the risk of developing lung cancer for marijuana smokers.
"We expected that we would find that a history of heavy marijuana use--more than 500 to 1,000 uses--would increase the risk of cancer from several years to decades after exposure to marijuana," explains physician Donald Tashkin of the University of California, Los Angeles, and lead researcher on the project. But looking at residents of Los Angeles County, the scientists found that even those who smoked more than 20,000 joints in their life did not have an increased risk of lung cancer.
The researchers interviewed 611 lung cancer patients and 1,040 healthy controls as well as 601 patients with cancer in the head or neck region under the age of 60 to create the statistical analysis. They found that 80 percent of those with lung cancer and 70 percent of those with other cancers had smoked tobacco while only roughly half of both groups had smoked marijuana. The more tobacco a person smoked, the greater the risk of developing cancer, as other studies have shown.
But after controlling for tobacco, alcohol and other drug use as well as matching patients and controls by age, gender and neighborhood, marijuana did not seem to have an effect, despite its unhealthy aspects. "Marijuana is packed more loosely than tobacco, so there's less filtration through the rod of the cigarette, so more particles will be inhaled," Tashkin says. "And marijuana smokers typically smoke differently than tobacco smokers; they hold their breath about four times longer allowing more time for extra fine particles to deposit in the lungs."
The study does not reveal how marijuana avoids causing cancer. Tashkin speculates that perhaps the THC chemical in marijuana smoke prompts aging cells to die before becoming cancerous. Tashkin and his colleagues presented the findings yesterday at a meeting of the American Thoracic Society in San Diego.
I'm not going to quote this one, it's too long. But if you aren't too closed minded to accept you could be wrong, then read it.

Also, if it were legal, there would be far less chemical huffing (that sometimes causes instant death). Also a lot less people would go to the store to buy Robitussen to get high (the active ingredient Dextromethorphan is a dissassociative drug that can most definately cause overdose, not to mention people getting the wrong kind with other ingredients than DXM, which can cause death if even a little too much enters the body).
Also, it boost creativity and lessens depression. So, please. Shut your ignorant face because you have no idea what you're talking about.

Google News had an article a few months ago that said smoking pot made you twice as likely to develop a psychotic illness.

If you have a history of psychosis and/or schizophrenia, yes.

marijuana is a drug... alcohol is a drug....
tell me why there is any difference between the two..
For starters, alcohol is about a million-billion-gah-jillion times more toxic than MJ and has no redeeming medicinal value whatsoever.
They both are drugs and depressants.
Incorrect.
It is true that THC does function as a relaxant or a "depressant" in most people, it is not technically categorized as such since THC does very different things to different people based on the number latent THC receptors in each person's brain.
For instance, many people (such as myself) are born with an abnormal offset brain chemistry, and THC is one of those psychoactives which can help correct this imbalance by producing better clarity of thought and concentration, and does so brilliantly. Personally, the drug acts as an "upper" and inversely decreases my appetite rather than giving me "the munchies". It's always been that way.
Alcohol on the other hand is a very simple molecule that's classified as a "sloppy drug" that creates a blanket effect on the whole brain and numbs you from head to toe.
MJ on the other hand can actually sharpen you up in some cases given the appropriate dose...

Though this is not the case with everyone, I believe it should be noted that there are acceptions to this rule (unlike alcohol where there are NO exceptions dealing with dose v.s. mental acuity). MJ can be bad for some people, and GREAT for others, it just depends on your chemistry. Demonising cannabis just because it doesn't jive well with a certain percentage of the population who get lazy and unmotivated under the influence is exceedingly naive, dogmatic and just plain ignorant.
Anyway, comparing alcohol and weed isn't as simple as comparing apples and oranges, it's more akin to comparing apples and skyscrapers. There's a huge difference.
everyone can make their own decision, but i know i've made mine.
That's great! And I really mean that. You and ONLY you (with the help of a knowledgeable physician in some cases) should be the one to decipher what's good for your body and what isn't. Everyone's different. What's good and helpful for one person, could be bad, or even deadly for the another.

Exactly!
Yet another prime example of people trying to put the cart ahead of the horse.

Also, if you have a history of anxiety attacks, it's not so good either. That is why I don't smoke anymore, because I have anxiety attacks when smoking. But I still don't think it's bad if you don't have those side effects. As all the evidence I've presented states.

Okay---why are we talking about marijuana in a Nessa topic? :o

THC Attaches to Specific Receptors in the Brain
THC is up to no good in the brain. THC finds brain cells, or neurons, with specific kinds of receptors called cannabinoid receptors. Then, it binds to these receptors. [4]
When it attaches to a neuron, THC interferes with normal communication between neurons. Think of it as a disruption in the phone service, caused perhaps by too many users all at once. Let's say Neuron #1 needs to tell Neuron #2 to create a new memory. If THC is in the mix, this communication is likely to fail.
Certain parts of the brain have high concentrations of cannabinoid receptors. These areas are: the hippocampus, the cerebellum, the basal ganglia, and the cerebral cortex. [4]
THC Creates Learning and Memory Problems
The hippocampus is a part of the brain with a funny name and a big job. It's in charge of certain types of learning and memory.
Disrupting the normal functioning of the hippocampus can lead to trouble studying and learning and problems recalling recent events. The difficulty can be a lot more serious than "Did I take out the trash this morning?"
Interference with the hippocampus may also lead to lasting memory loss. Studies in rats show that taking in a lot of THC over a long period of time can damage neurons in the hippocampus. Chances are, if it happens to rats, it's happening to people who smoke marijuana. [4]
Smoking Marijuana Can Make Driving Dangerous
The cerebellum is the section of our brain that does most of the work on balance and coordination. When THC finds its way into the cerebellum, it makes scoring a goal in soccer or hitting a home run pretty tough.
THC also does a number on the basal ganglia, another part of the brain that's involved in movement control.
These THC effects can spell disaster on the highway. Research shows that drivers on marijuana have slow reaction times, impaired judgment, and problems responding to signals and sounds on the road. In one study of 150 reckless drivers, 33 tested positive for marijuana. [1] [4]
Smoking Marijuana May Lead to Lung Cancer
The list of negative effects goes on and on. Smoking marijuana may increase the risk of heart attack. Smoking marijuana may cause lung cancer because it has some of the same cancer-causing substances as tobacco. Plus, marijuana smokers tend to inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than cigarette smokers do. So more smoke enters the lungs. Puff for puff, smoking marijuana may increase the risk of cancer even more than smoking cigarettes does. [4]
What About Medical Marijuana?
THC, the main active ingredient in marijuana, produces effects that potentially can be useful for treating a variety of medical conditions. It is the main ingredient in a pill that is currently used to treat nausea in cancer chemotherapy patients and to stimulate appetite in patients with wasting due to AIDS. Scientists are continuing to investigate other potential medical uses for cannabinoids.
However, smoking marijuana is difficult to justify medically because the amount of THC in marijuana is not always consistent. It would be difficult-if not impossible-to come up with a safe and effective use of the drug because you could never be sure how much THC you were getting. Moreover, the negative effects of marijuana smoke on the lungs will offset the helpfulness of smoked marijuana for some patients.
Finally, little is known about the many chemicals besides THC that are in marijuana, or their possible negative impact on patients with medical conditions. [4]
