thanks! interesting to see behind the scenes. I actually thought they smashed the actual piano from ATM, but I guess they just built a hollow one and smashed that. The real one would've probably torn that poor cab apart.

The actual piano in ATM was hollow

mmhmm I remember her saying in an interview or something that the piano did not even work so she pushed on the keys but thats all it really did.

that was awesome!  I love the comment Irv makes about Vanessa's music being "forever music"

That was cool. It looked to me though, that they rebuilt one that looks exactly like the one in ATM, but made it hollow, still.

I think the word he was really looking for was "timeless". Some music is referred to as timeless, not as being "forever."

But we all already know he doesn't have much of a way with words, aka - "V IS THE FUCKING SHIT!!!"

lol

Me too, and I completely agree with that statement.  I was actually just thinking about this today- how her music isn't dated, and it doesn't seem like the type to be dated.

Her music, in general, has a universal theme, and since she doesn't mold her songs to fitting the format of that song that's hot for half a year and played on the radio 20394730274 times a day, she has something to offer that is TRULY inspired.  Vanessa stands out; she doesn't compare to or sound much like anyone else out there right now.

Who thinks they'll remember "Umbrella" in ten years?

Irv and V is an unexpected match made in music biz heaven!  I love how he supports her.

Umbrella is actually a really good song, aside from the fact that Rihanna's performed the original version (whom I actually like a lot), it's an awesome song from a musical standpoint, it has a great melody. I mean, there are so many covers of that song, it's just a testament that Umbrella itself is a great piece of writing. Mandy Moore, Plain White T's, Scott Simon and others have covered the song, there's tons of covers up on YouTube.

Don't knock a song because you don't like the way it was produced and performed, there a lot great songs from a writing stand point that don't always have the best production.

And besides, Umbrella will be remembered more often than most of Vanessa's work, I gaurantee that, and it's only because Rihanna's more popular. *Shrugs*

I only used "Umbrella" as an example because it seemed to fit the hot-for-the-moment song idea, whereas V's music won't be dated largely because she tends to fly under the radar a bit and aside from ATM, her music doesn't get played until your ears bleed, you know?

And yeah, I have to admit, I did pick on Rihanna for the most part because I can't stand her "music".
I really should have thought it out more before I said "Who will remember it" because many people probably will, I just don't think Rihanna's music itself will stand the test of time the way V's does, despite popularity.
I just really need to go to bed and stop bothering people with my miscommunications. lol
One of those things that sounds way better in your head haha.
I'll use a different example, and people will probably agree with this one more:

Who will remember "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston in 10 years from now?

Anyway, was anyone else kind of unimpressed by this "behind the scenes" excluding the parts where V and Irv talked?  It just seemed like the creators said what everyone had already known about the video (ie, "there will be special effects")

But even somewhat boring press is good press, right?  :)

And last, thank you Hazy Eyes for posting this!

I love the vid! Thanks :D

As for Umbrella, I agree. It's not a bad song, I just think Vanessa's music is deeper and deserves to be played on the radio every once in awhile.
I'm getting a little sick of hearing "Girlfriend", "Umbrella", and "Big Girls Don't Cry" every time I turn on the radio.

I don't wanna install Quicktime (it's a POS) because I have Quicktime Alternative and it's much better (except for stupid webpage content obviously).
Thanks!

i actually really like umbrella too, and i am not usually a fan of mainstream music. but it's true, it's very melodic and memorable--and it actually has a good message.  it's actually not a love song, she wrote it for her best friend.

All I can say is I am SO glad they did not actually destroy a real piano for the video. That left me in so much smiles after seeing the vid!

The piano that they use in this video, ATM, and OD video is a replica of V's special piano that she uses at concerts though, right? I was so afraid she destroyed her special piano but was hoping it was just a replica.
