Mine would be Whitney Houston- i use to jump on my bed listening to the bodyguard soundtrack. I especially loved Queen of the night- oh yeah oh yeah, dont make no difference whether i'm wrong or i'm right, i've got the feeling and i'm willing to fight- i'll stop now
-
Mariah Carey. :)

Westlife! 8)

Eww lol
-
Mariah Carey. :)
oh mariah was a good one! i loved her #1's cd.. (still do.) i loved brandy and monica. hmm.. new kids on the block of cour!
i was OBSESSED with selena. but strangely i never heard of her until after she died and the movie about her life came out. but after i saw that, i seriously was completely obsessed. i don't even speak spanish, yet i can sing all of her spanish songs.. not that i'm singing them correctly, but i still sort of know how they go.
anyway, then obv in the late 90's, it was all about nsync and britney.
-
The Beatles, Mariah, Whitney (what can i say, they were huge then) and of course, the Spice Girls.
-
Metallica \m/
-
i remember Madonna-Material Girl ...:P
Yeah there was Whitney-I will always love you...
I loved the Divas-Celine Dion,Mariah Carrey...
Then yeah there was Boyzone,Spice Girls, and BSB... O Take That too...( I remember the member names of all these bands by heart till date:P)
Then there was a Britney Spears and Shania Twain stage.
-
Barney!!!
No, I'm kidding. I think it must've been...
Well, I'm not THAT old, I used to love to hear Vanessa Carlton on the radio, I'm proud to say. The only song I knew of hers was A Thousand Miles, back then, when I was about 9-11. (Creepy numbers)
It will pain me so much to admit this, but Avril Lavigne. Don't get me wrong, her first two albums are great, but her third one is a little bit of a 'copycat album', and it's just like she threw away her unique ability to write songs to replace it with the amazing (and annoying) ability to change herself completely into a total hypocrite.
I feel better that that's out.
Yeah, Joey, I used to listen to Spice Girls too, I only knew like, one of their songs from the movie (at the end) that I sang all the time.
-
Britney Spears  .
I really don't like her now, though.

ugh i totally agree!! i loved her first cd's. but her last one makes her sound so completely self centered. and she's completely changed into EXACTLY what she's always made fun of. bl.

Oh good! That means someone understands why I don't like her that much anymore! I actually pretend to die when she comes on T.V. while I'm watching, lol. Then my mom goes: "Wow, you REALLY don't like her anymore, do you?" (Because I used to be like: WHOO AVRIL LAVIGNE!)
Then I say: "Wow, you finally got it!"
-

haha yea i used to really, really love her! i actually still have a giant poster of her in my room. but ugh i just really don't like her as a person anymore. and her latest cd basically is a sum up of her as a person now. i still think she's a good singer and i listen to her old songs sometimes.... i just cringe when i see her now with her big, blonde, curled hair and her loads of make up and manicured nails.. in a dress. like is she serious?! hahaha. and i almost fainted when i saw the photoshoot of her topless. i don't remember what mag it was for.
p.s. on a brighter avril note, have you ever seen her aol sessions? she sings a couple songs acoustic and i LOVE them. her performances of happy ending and don't tell me are soooo good.

Yeah, I love her older songs acoustic. They sound so nice.

the backstreet boys, and they surprisingly still are my favorite artist. i think i'll still be a fan even after they break up & do solo stuff haha. they are the sweetest group in the world, and are a lot more talented than people give them credit for i don't think i could ever stop being a fan.
i think the spice girls were my favorite before them though cuz they came out first..and what do ya know i'm seeing them tonight

The Beatles, Mariah, Whitney (what can i say, they were huge then) and of course, the Spice Girls.

When I was a kid it was Michael Jackson with his original nose.
I liked Tiffany and Color Me Badd too. I remember liking Men at Work and Huey Lewis & the News too. Of course in those days it was a luxury to have the latest technology, a Walkman. God this board makes me feel old.

-Britney Spears
-Play
-Vanessa Carlton
-Michelle Branch
-Avril Lavigne
im sorta more on the younger side than most of you guys, but i still love most of these artists (everyone except Britney and Play). i was only like, 7 or 8 when Vanessa, Michelle, and Avril made their first CD's.

now that i think about it, I'm pretty pissed at my mom for not guiding me in the right direction of music. i missed out on so much.
HAHAHA!
Yeah i know!!!
But her first CD wasnt that bad actually....
But after her 2nd she lost it and she became this teenage slut, gd for nothing as well....
My mom didnt let me watch her movie CROSSROADS cause i was "too young" when it came out...i watched it now..and im glad i didnt watch it before.....

Well Spice Girls were out (as well B*Witched were really out there when I was in middle school (13 years old). I WAS OBSESSED WITH THEM! I liked S Club 7 kinda in High School but grew out of that. I kinda was into Christina Aguilera in middle school and starting to get into Britney Spears but I lost interest in both. I honestly wasn't into boy bands, tho I have to say I loved Savage Garden since middle school and I still do. Loved Vitamin C, Billie Piper, I liked Dream, Mikiala, Angela Via(I don't like her anymore), M2M(Don't Say You Love me!) I still listen to one half of the duo Marit Larsen. She's innocent and awesome. Marion Raven is all about being sexed up and sorry, she's a sell out. What else did I love back then...I think I liked Steps, Myra.. I think I kinda liked Leslie Carter. I feel like I did like something else but can't remember. I have to say I still listen to Spice Girls, B*Witched, M2M once in awhile. because they are the most nostigic to me more than anything else and meant more to me then anything else I listened to. :)
-
I remember liking the music of Billy Squier, and I had the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tape.
-
Eurythmics; the first 'CD' in my collection. I've been a fan since listening to

Funny story.....
we all remember aaron carter correct?
well i was walking out of the dentist the other day, and as i was walking, i found 10 + stickers from 2001 on the floor, it was so weird, who has 10 of those from 2001!? I picked them up, and showed them to my friends, it was funny.
-
OH! Does anyone remember Eiffel65? Used to have their CDs. They were interesting, their voices sound weird tho :P. I burned their 2nd CD.

I'm blue, da ba dee da ba da, da ba dee da ba daa...
my friends and I though they were saying "I'm blue, if I were green I would die..." lol

I'm pretty sure they are saying that at some point :D
-
ohh hahaha okay then..man that was a weird song :P
-
lol yeah but everyne seemed to love it. I felt like I heard it everywhre.
-
I remember liking the music of Billy Squier, and I had the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tape.
I had a TMNT tape too! (Mine was songs from the first movie.) It came with a book and 4 plastic kazoos in blue, orange, red and purple to match the turtles bandana-thingys!
KAZOOS! How incredibly annoying that must have been for my parents!
"T-U-R-T-L-E power!"

I was obsessed with Britney Spears and N'Sync. I even saw Britney Spears in concert that's how lame I was as a little girl.
Then one day, I heard Linkin Park-Crawling on the telly and my whole life changed. Haha, that was a little exaggerated but that was the first rock song I ever liked and let me tell you, it was all uphill from there. I didn't become obsessed with Linkin Park but it opened up a whole new genre for me, I don't really listen to Linkin Park now anyways.
I was a LP fan in my teens! I LOVED their first album. I still love it but haven't listened to it in a while. It was all downhill from there
What a pity. I can't believe they ever collaborated with Jay-Z. The result was truly atrocious. *shakes head*
Their new album has about 2 good songs on it and the rest I don't like. *sigh* To me, it sounds like they were trying too hard.
But.... they opened up a "whole new genre" for me too! They introduced me to "heavy"... they were like a gateway drug! :D
-
when i was in my teens, i listened to Alanis Morissette and The Corrs. i was able to watch The Corrs when they came to the Philippines for a concert together with my sister and her ex-boyfriend. as for Alanis, i wasn't able to watch her concerts because no one in my family or friends are big fans of her so i didn't have companions to watch her. :(
-
~Britney Spears (lol, don't like her much anymore)
~Michelle Branch (still love her music! can't wait for her new solo album)
~Avril Lavigne (1st 2 albums were good! the 3rd was a mess. She's changed)
~Play (hahahahah anyone remember them? seems like they're fading into oblivion)
~BSB (lol)
~VC! (Well, I only knew ATM, though)
-
Omg I remember Play. "I'm gonna make you love me"
-
leann rimes hahahaha
-
I loved ATM ( i used to sing it at the top of my lungs and play spider solitaire!) Don't judge me
But when I was really young, it was the Spice Girls fo sho.
-
I didn't have a single favorite, I had a lot.
I liked Westlife, the Backstreet Boys, A1 (My big brother used to listen to boy bands. I got infected), Phil Collins, Counting Crows, and Vanessa Carlton (save the best for last, of course). I only liked ATM, though I vaguely remember hearing "Pretty Baby" on MTV.
I still like some of them, especially Counting Crows and, of course, Vanessa Carlton. Would I be on this forum if I didn't like her?
-
TLC.
They were awesome, lol.
-
TLC.
They were awesome, lol.
I loved them as well. But unfortunately that's not near embarrassing enough to be my childhood favorite...
Oh God. ahh this is so embarrassing.
I was OBSESSED. I mean OBSESSED with Britney Spears.... And... Celine Dion. :-[ :-X :-\
-
Martina McBride
-
I loved Jump 5 and (quite oddly :D) Evanescence...
-
old thread but thought I'd respond just the same. The first person I can remember liking was Debbie Gibson. I remember I had to be like 3 and wanted to go to her concert because my two oldest sisters were going. Middle school era it was TLC, No Doubt, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, BSB (better than Nsync!) DMB, Sublimej Jewel. Then as I got into high school -- Vanessa of course, Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch (and continued DMB, Sublime). The artists today who I still listen to - Vanessa, of course, DMB, Sublime, Jewel -- the ultimate 4 for me!
