Yes it's a joke, The Onion is a "humor" publication. But this is kind of a "diss" to our beloved Vanessa - as if to say hearing Her songs over and over again pushed the shooter over the edge.
I know that I listen to Her songs over and over again and love them (and V) more each time :):)
