i know the lyrics but theres a small voice before the music starts and in the video vanessa sings the lyrics but i cant make them out can anyone help!?!?! its bothering me sooo much not to know...
-
I'm pretty sure she's saying "2,3"
-
no i know she says 2, 3 then starts to play but turn the volume to full blast and while she plays the beginning she says something or someone says something and in the music video she mouths it but i cant make it out
-
"away"? "awake"?
-
I always thought she said "hey" at that part
-
aww now its bothering me more haha
O.o
thanks though for your help
-
i'm pretty sure it's "away," or at least that's what i always thought.. like to show that he is now gone because clearly there is some distance between the two of them.. i don't know though
-
in the video, it looks like she's singing a two syllable word.
i thought it was "hey" at first, until i saw the video...
i could be wrong though.
-
yeah it does sound like away
but what ever i love the music video its beautiful!
-
Now that you mention about the video I'm starting to see the two syllable thing
-
i heard that when i first got the album. i always thought she said "oh hey"
-
Huh. Like a lot of other people, I always thought it was 'Hey'.
But now you're all saying she mouthes two syllables in the video? (I'm too lazy to actually watch the video, due to a slow internet connection, but I'll take your word for it)
i always thought she said "oh hey"
most plausible answer, I reckon. It gets in the two syllable thing, and means that I am half-right.
Awesome!
-
ive always thought it was hey...
-
ive always thought that it was AWAY.....
-
hahaha nooooo it's 2,3...hahaha
seriously put it on full blast.
you'll hear it really clearly.
-
um... i always thought it was "Hands On Me"... yeah i think she tries to say that...
Or maybe just "hey"
-
I think we're talking about two different parts of the song. We know about the 2,3 but its the "hey" sound we can't make out.
-
what hey?
-
what hey?
okay, when she first starts playing the intro part...after she says 2,3...
there seems to be some word she says....its actually throughout the song....if u listen to it carefuly....not all of it...just the verses....and most right after the chorus....but im sure its said throughout most of the song...
plz, tell me if im wrong... :)
and it sounds like shes saying "AWAY" or "HEY"
-
^ Thank you, that's what I was talking about. :)
-
^ Thank you, that's what I was talking about. :)
hahaha
no problem! :D
-
OH. hahah maybe she's just vocalizing. like...sometimes artists just vocalize.
-
hahaha nooooo it's 2,3...hahaha
seriously put it on full blast.
you'll hear it really clearly.
no no!
we know its 2 .. 3... and then its starts the piano and then she says something very lightly even in the music video shes on the bed and says it but you cant really make it out
at least 8 minutes into the song she says it
and then again before she starts to sing ("I first saw you...")
she even says it after "exchange"
O.o hmm...
**nvm already answered**
-
I am pretty positive its "Hey" just to add a little bit of background or "poppness" to the song, and to make it catchier. songs always get stuck in my head when they have hey in the background, take "tattoo" by Jordin Sparks, i dont like the song that much but the Heys in the background catch my attention and make me sing along.
-
ha yeah dood like it sounds uh hey
haha i don't think she's really..saying anything.
haha
-
Oh. I always thought it was "alright". "Away" doesn't really make sense. I mean, she wants the hands to come to her right? Haha.
-

hahaha u have a point...away wouldn't make much sense....
-
the "2, 3" part is pretty obvious xD not worth discussing it
but that hey thing, I think she's saying "Go Away," you can read her lips on the video, or maybe "No Way," but I'm pretty sure there's an O in there :D
-
I say next person to see her asks :D
-
I say next person to see her asks :D
Agreed! (it would never be me though). I'm betting on "alright" since "away" just doesn't make sense, even though that's seemingly what everyone thinks.
-
how would away not make any sense?
-
Well, i always thought that what she says is "The way" but I could be wrong. Oh well. I'm sticking with "the way" so, whatever.
-
lol
idk i just really want to know
-
'I am coffee?'
I like that. Your username is cool.
-
how would away not make any sense?
Okay, well, how do you think it makes sense? It doesn't fit with the song.
For example:
I first saw you at the video exchange AWAY!
I know my heart and it will never change. AWAY!
Away what? Get your hands away from her? Not exactly the point of the song.
-
I really don't think she's saying anything..
haha I really just think it's vocalizing.
-
'I am coffee?'

yeah it was one of those high on coffee days and i stumbled on words and instead of saying "I had coffee" i actually scream out "I AM COFFEE"
ahh... good times...

well away would be good cuz she could be saying::
i first saw you but now ur "away"
I know my heart it will never change even though ur "away"
idk... i guess its how u read it
what did you think it was?
-
I really think it's "alright". I guess we'll just have to wait and see if anyone asks her to find out what it really is.

Yes i like that new sense didn't think about it before
-
I always thought it was 'No way' or 'Oh wait'
I could be wrong.
-
I thougth it was just a sound, voice effect...
-
yeah I agree with Kate...
haha I don't think she's saying anything.
-
Yeh, I know what everyone is talking about. It's definetely words she says...
If you look at the video, you'll see she definetely makes a "w" sound (look at her lips)
Here's what I hear:
First saw you at the video exchange (alright)
I know my heart and it will never change (but wait OR but why)
hmm...
we should ask nessa somehow!
-
Maybe someone can ask her next time they see her in concert?
-
YES!
-

Hey Tiffany! :D Welcome to the nessaholic forums :D
Ur question is a very interesting one...ive been wondering about that for a while now....and only the other day did i realize that many people take it in a bad way...
On my wall in my room, I have Vanessa posters and quotes from her songs....
One of them says ' And if u dont believe me, just put ur hands on me...'
My friend was over and he didnt even know that is was a quote from a song....and he was making fun of me saying im a perve and stuff
so its not that clear to people.....
it probably has nothing to do with being a perve and wanting to be touched by someone.... but thats how it seems...especially to people who aren't Vanessa fans and do not know that most of her songs have a totally hidden meaning...
Anyway...i will try to analyze that song now....see if I can find a deeper meaning :D

i see...thanks a lot!
i always thought that it is some idioms or proverbs in english and all native english speakers would understand
i was even afraid that i was asking a dumb question...
now i know that it is not the case, i am not bothered anymore
we can all think about it :)
maybe 'putting your hands on me' might symbolize a test of faith? because the lyrics go 'if you don'r believe me, just put your hands on me'
or it might mean an act of trust?
i don't know...
anyway, everyone can have their own interpretation and that's the magic of vanessa's lyrics
-
yess! Exactly why i LOVE Vanessa and her music!!! :D :D
-
i thought it said "dont wait"
-
I only get "Away" from the track off the CD. I was listening to this song via
my Skype head-set and heard this clearly enough for the first time to make
it out. It seems to have been mixed in rather than a BV which could be tied
to the lyrics directly. No confusion intended I'm sure; sounds cool though 8)
Peace

like...no offense...but i seriously dont get any of ur posts... hihihi

I think that it is a test in faith and trust. Kind of like in OD where she says "take my hand live while we can", same kind of thing in my opinion. Come with me be with me trust me.
-
Well forgetting how it looks as she said it on the video, I thought it would be "that day," since it was the first time he saw her in the video store... But now that I look again, she's definitely saying "oh, hey!" because she's excited to see her boyfriend. Also, the repeating of it I believe symbolizes their first meeting. I picture her dropping something and he gives it to her. They recognize each other, but haven't officially met... So she says, "Oh hey!" That's very out-there for the most part, but in the least it symbolizes their first introduction to each other.
She's looking to the side, I think to make it look like he'd just walked in and was not at the bed yet.
That's my belief.... Just like I think that we didn't land on the moon. And that terrorism is a government scam to use fear to slowly become a tyranny.... lol So, yeah. Vanessa lyrics = my politics. XD

Well, I doubt anyone's going to agree with this because they think Vanessa would ever sing a song about this... But I'm positive she's talking about the passionate love-making between people who are... Well, passionately in love. So it's about sex... But in a different way than most modern songs talk about it, for sure, and in a way that's respectable and makes you wish you had that person who loved you just that much that making love isn't just about fucking, but about the electric, spiritual connection between those lovers.

The old English freak is now here after seeing something so incorrect that's so widely used.
...."alright..."
I'm not being rude, but it just irks me so many make this mistake, even edited, written words, like on CD's lyrics.
"Alright," currently was added to the dictionary for colloquial, SPOKEN speech because so many use it and think that's how it's spelled, but when writing it is incorrect to spell it this way. The word is "all right." Two words. I take some college English courses unofficially (I sit in and just learn, but not for a grade or credits). Two of the professors have said this about some people using it in essays, and were extremely displeased that people are trying mess up the English language in this way, even if it isn't intentionally. So this is just for future knowledge.
And that's all I have to say about that. I still love you... you strangers, you. =]
