Title: computer program terminology
Post by: tylor2000 on April 17, 2003, 07:55:03 am
Do you know words that are completely different from program to program or computer to computer but do exactly the same thing?

It is all just terminology.

post them in this thread  :)

I'll start with start/run

Dos in IBMs use "start" but so many others I've used use the command "run".

Be sure to point out the details

DOS and VMS use "dir" to display the contents of a directory.
UNIXy systems use "ls"

Uhh.... is that the kind of thing you are asking for?
