-- Vanessa Carlton, Mya, Lucy Woodward, and Tweet will take the stage in Central Park in New York City on August 7, along with the finalists in the 3rd annual Pantene Pro-Voice competition.

The contest is open to women from age 14 through 24 who are either a soloist or a lead vocalist in a band.

Three finalists will receive a chance to perform live at the Pro-Voice Concert in Central Park, which will be headlined by Carlton and Mya. The winner will also receive a $5,000 demo-recording deal from Atlantic Records, and a walk down the red carpet at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.

Musicians can enter at pro-voice.com.

Does anybody happen to know if they used the actual sound of Vanessa pounding the keys in that commercial?  That would be so cool if that's really the sound of her playing!

(I could listen to a 20-minute tape of her doing nothing else, just because she's Vanessa.)
