Title: Any college football fans?
Post by: Katia's Lover on May 09, 2003, 04:43:01 pm
If you are, I'm sure we're both anticipating the release of NCAA Football 2004.  2003 was the best EA game ever, and the fact that they're going to put Georgia Southern (6 time I-AA national champions baby!) along with other I-AA teams on the game this year make it even more desirable!

I've heard from a friend that's an insider in the gaming industry that EA's really overdone themselves this year.

I liked NCAA Football 2003... but I always found Madden 2003 to be more entertaining, lol.

I guess we will have to see how the graphics are for the new NCAA game. I may just keep '03, since half the time they don't get the team rosters right anyway.

I liked Madden's features, but the playability was much better in NCAA.  I gave Madden an 8 overall, but gave NCAA a 9.5.

You're right 'bout the team rosters though.

Trojans have a kick ass coach.. that's why I'm betting they'll only get better.

You can do a lot more on offense in NCAA 2003 than you can on Madden, which is probably true between college and pro, but I love Madden's tackling animations and I find that playing defense on NCAA 2003 isn't as fun. (Even though I like using those funky defensive sets that Madden doesn't have)

Well, first I almost got called for unnecessary roughness.  So I toned things down a bit and played by the rules.  The game was going well until the goal post fell over and we couldn’t play anymore.  The officials could do nothing to get that thing upright again.

I don’t ever want to play at that stadium again.  :(  That is, unless the goal post problem is remedied.

Sorry to hear about the goalpost problem, seems like a pretty unsatisfying ending to what sounds like was up to that point a pretty good game. :?

And tell them to keep that flag in their pocket next time for that unnecessary roughness, a little rough play is okay by me  :)

Yes, the whole goal post fiasco was a huge disappointment.  My team was within a yard of scoring a touch down!  It was an incredible play that we made.  The other team was in possession of the ball and had decided to try for a field goal.  The kicker, rather surprisingly, had bad aim and kept missing the posts...actually the whole end zone.  On fourth down the kicker must have been pretty nervous and ended up making a bad snap.  My team picked up the fumbled ball and ran with it...pretty much trying to show that other team how football should be played.  Maybe that psyched out the other team, I'm not sure, but we got within a yard of the opposite end zone.  Things were looking good when suddenly the goal post fell and the game was called.  I didn't know field posts could be that unreliable.

I'm glad someone appreciates the work of our offensive coordinator! Hee-hee, the other team was definitely surprised.  In my opinion though, if the other team isn't going to take charge and lead with the kickoff, then we've got to step in and set the tone of the game.

You should have told the head coach of that mediocre team, "Sorry, but too many players on the field!"

Speaking of mediocre teams...you'll never guess who called and left me a voicemail.  That's right!  The team that had the goalpost problem.  Unfortunately, the universe is punishing me for having not yet finished a ten page paper that is due tomorrow.  What did the universe do? you ask.  This morning I discovered, much to my horror, that the sound on my cell phone isn't working!!!    So, until I have my phone repaired (which is what I intend to do first thing tomorrow morning) I won't know if that team called to schedule a rematch for tomorrow night or not!  Arrrrggggg.    :?

Hello, fellow football fans.  I figured you were all very deserving of an update.

The other team finally scheduled a rematch for tomorrow evening.  Here’s the thing.  I couldn’t tell if the team manager was joking or was serious, but he suggested bringing by some snacks for the game.  The ingredients he proposed are the kind that are needed for making ice cream sundaes.  I’m afraid that ice cream sundaes at halftime would be a bit messy.  What do you think?   :?
Title: Any college football fans?
Post by: Katia's Lover on May 14, 2003, 02:32:22 pm
I always enjoy ice cream sundaes for a nice halftime break.  After the 1st half, I'm usually pretty sweaty, and the ice cream helps alot!

Plus, I've heard that diary products helps field goals stay up...
Title: Any college football fans?
Post by: B on May 14, 2003, 03:38:05 pm
It could be rather messy, but then again if it helps to energize his team for the second half, then why not try it.

Time to revive this thread.

Okay, so I get a call from one of my previous opponents, and they say they would like to set up a game for tonight.  I'm really happy about this.  I spend an hour preparing for the meeting, getting the field of play ready, giving the team a shower, and the like.

That's not to mention this team kept on saying that they might not be able to make the game because they were supposed to go out with another team, but that really didn't like this team.  Well, eventually I put all the effort into it, and get them to come play.

When we finally start the game, everything goes smooth.  Really nice.  Then before you know it, we're really having a good game!  I'm at the two yard line, about to punch it in when...

"I don't feel right."

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

________________

By the way, I was hoping you guys could help me out.  I was wondering how I could best put my current opponent at ease during our games.  I think the opposing team gets a little too nervous or intimidated by my players.  The issue is no longer that the goalpost falls over (that was finally fixed, thankfully) but that the other team can't seem to get any Gatorade out of their cooler while my team's around.  What gives?   :?   I did everything I could to that cooler to help get the Gatorade out -- and nothing.  Let me tell you, I believe it is highly unnatural for me to have to kneel for close to an hour at the foot of that cooler trying to get that thing to give!   :x

Just keep practicing.  I know sometimes it gets tiring practicing and you just want to play, but you gotta do whatcha gotta do.

Stay away from that left hand though.  Some guys say it's like a whole new person.  Yea, a retarded one.

All the teams in my division are freaking out because of finals next week.  It looks like the league schedule me a bye week.  After that, the league will take a month off before resuming the season in the spring.  I know of a few teams I used to play with back in my old league--where I'll be during the offseason.  I'm hoping they'll let me play in the good ol' league while I'm off for the holidays.

When I hit up New Orleans Dec 26-Jan 1 I'm hoping to start a few exhibition games there as well.

New Orleans seems like a good bet to get in a few exhibition games but just remember to bring the best protective gear you have, you really don't know what other teams are playing with around there.

Very good. Just making sure. There's nothing worse than leaving your helmet in the locker room as unless you really trust the other team you (and even worse, the other team) don't want to play without it
