INSOMNIAC

Clock reads 5:00 AM
My eyes are wide
And my right hand is numb
So many mindless thoughts
Rushing about keeping
Me awake and alert
Two fans blowing
One cat purring
My heating blanket set on
High but none a
Good night's sleep
Calling lullabye
I force myself to yawn
And make my muscles stretch
All in hopes it will
Wear me down at least enough
Just to temporarily rest
Toss and turn past 5:00 AM
Tomorrow night will be the same
