Amanda

No. Both of them suck...
I will be watching the Braves v. Rangers though. Todd Greene w/ Texas is a graduate of Georgia Southern.
-
nah...
-
i'm not going to argue with you, but the Cards have alot of potential, they are just having a bad year with injuries and all.
i asked if anybody was watching the game, not their opinion about the teams, :? thank you very much.
-
I'd watch, but unless it is on ESPN, we won't get it here....
And the Brewers are postponed tonight, and no Cubs came on WGN, if the Braves aren't on TBS I think I am going to cry... or have to sit here all night, LOL

-Brian
-
I know--this is rather hilarious.
There goes his "every man's man" image.
-
I didn't know people thought of him as "every man's man" LOL..
People up here either love him, or make fun of him. But then again, the Cubs are our rivals, so ... lol
-Brian
-
And the Brewers are postponed tonight...
-Brian
yeah.....the pissed me off......although i was watchin' for the mets, not the brewers, but i still wanted to see the game....
-
I have two things to say.
Sam Sosa - OMG. What were you thinking. Cheater.
And
R-E-D-S REDS REDS RED.
and
Booo yankees.
Oh wait.. that was three things. AMONGST our weaponry are fear, and surprise and ruthless efficiency, and our pretty red jump suits. OH damn. /obscure reference.

I'm sorry, I don't care if the bat was "just for batting practice" (a load of BS of which I don't believe), it would still be wrong IMO.
It's a shame that Sammy will get off because of his image. I would suspend his ass 7 games, just as many as they suspended Belle for his bat fiasco and a bunch of other corkers got around 7 games.
Shame on you Sammy.

It does kinda sound like it might have been an innocent mistake. News footage shows that the bad had a big C on it. Marking it as corked. Which would make Sammy stupid for using either A) using a bat marked cork INTENTIONALLY or B) Using a bat marked corked without even NOTICING it.
Either way, he deserves a suspension.

the rule is that if you have an illegal bat, then your are automatically suspended for 10 games
and if he was using this bat for like the homerun durby and when he was going for the record, damn, that's sad

I've never heard of any rule that says it's an auto 10 game suspension, although it is the norm. Albert Belle got 7 back a few years ago.
-
i was listening to Joe Buck and he said that it was an automatic 10 game suspension. but i guess they could go easier on him. i don't know. kind of pisses me off though.....
Amanda
-
I hate Joe Buck... don't listen to him. Basically, the only reason he has a job is because of his last name.
-
i like the guy, he's not that bad. at least he's not like other sports anouncers and talk to ya the whole damn game. at least Joe shuts up once in a while. lol

There is no such rule in MLB. If someone on a radio show or whatever claimed this then he was lying.
its up to the discression of the MLB to lay down a punishment. There is no rule in the books.

then why would JOE BUCK say it was a rule?
Amanda

then why would JOE BUCK say it was a rule?

JOE BUCK is not the king of baseball
-
well i think he would know the rules wouldn't you?
-
maybe....maybe no
-
well i think he would know the rules wouldn't you?
No. Joe Buck knows NOTHING. Joe Buck is the product of his father--nothing more.
Let me read it straight from the rulebook (although this is the 2000 edition, the rule has not been modified since). "A batter is out when... (section D) He uses or attempts to use a bat that, in the umpire's judgment, has been altered or tampered with in such a way to improve the distance factor or cause an unusual reaction on the baseball. This includes, bats that are filled, flat surfaced, nailed, hollowed, grooved or covered with a substance such as paraffin, wax, etc. No advancement on the bases will be allowed and any out or outs made during a play shall stand. In addition to being called out, the player shall be ejected from the game and may be subject to additional penalties as determined by his League President.
There you have it my friends. The additional penalty is determined by his League President (that may have been changed to MLB Commissioner, as we don't have league presidents anymore). Joe Buck was wrong--as he always is.

damn boy....

Jealous? No. My idol is Skip Carey. I do play-by-play for sports here on campus--broadcasting is my major and what I'm going to do one day. It just kills me that he gets good jobs that I would like to have one day simply because is father was such a great man. Kind of like Chip Carey--another broadcaster that can't tell a basketball from a baseball but gets jobs because of his father/grandfather.

thats the way the cookie crumbles....

How true... how true...

Georgia High School Football
Georgia High School Baseball
National High School Football Rules and Interpretations
National High School Basketball
NIRSA Flag Football Rulebook
USSSA Softball
NCAA Softball
These are a few I have just cuz I'm a rule junkie
MLB
NFL (Most confusing and wierd rulebook I've ever seen in my life)
NHL (Excellent writing, easy to understand/interpret)
NCAA Baseball
NCAA Football

Actually, there still are league presidents. It's true they don't have the power and notariety they used to, but they still have them.
You also stated that he is a product of his father, nothing more. But actually, if I'm not mistaken, he's also a product of his mother. That would most definitely be something more.
-
Ok, his CAREER is nothing more than a product of his father...
-
Interesting line from Rick Reilly of Sports Illustrated on ESPN. "If he'll cheat with his bats, what keeps you from thinking he won't cheat with his body?"
-
i wonder who really won that homerun durby if Sam was using that bat. that's not fair. :?
-
Wow, this has been a really cool baseball week for me. lol
The Brewers first trade Alex Sanchez, who I don't like. This whole Sosa thing, which I still find somewhat hilarious, and now today the Brewers release oft-injured never-effective Jeffrey Hammonds. After years and years of frustration, they are actually doing things I like, I'm almost scared LOL.
and that is a crapload of rulebooks Todd, LOL. I think it would actually be kind of cool to look through there and see what obscure rules exist.

Mets vs. Brewers bout 40 mins away
-
Yep, I will be watchin' :)
-Brian
-
me too
-
hehe..
My favorite thing about rooting for the Brewers is that there aren't giant expectations on them to play well and to compete. So it isn't a giant downer if they lose, but it is just as much of a high when they win.
Got Kinney and Trachsel tonight. Kinney has been decent this year, but so has Trachsel. It will be a tough one lol
-Brian
-
lol.......thats funny, kinna how feel about the mets
-
Yeah, people here are used to the Brewers losing. But all of a sudden if the Packers lose a game everyone is all
  :o :o :o
and that lol. They were saying people are really getting on the Mets because they have a high payroll and are just failing, but when your big sluggers are hurt there is not much you can do.
-Brian
-
yeah....it sucks cause Piazza it out, but Burnitz is back and kickin' ass, haha
-
Yeah. Burnitz is decent when he's not a) falling down while batting, b) throwing his bats in the stands. LOL.
He always used to lose the grip on his bats here and they'd end up in the stands on the right field side. Every time I go to the ballpark I always remark that the "Watch for flying balls and bats" signs as the Burnitz Signs lol
-Brian
-
lol
i'll have to check for that when i go to a game....
gotta go now.......later B
-
Have a good one B, peace.
-
another rained out game.......
Mets/Brewers are gonna play a double header today starting at 4PM, but it's raining again, so i dont think they'll have the games
-
I was just going to ask : "Is it raining again?!?!?" ... but you answered my question *sigh*. Weather sucks, lol.
-Brian
-
yeah....it's been pretty miserable over here all week....
they'll prolly end up post poning the games until sometime near the end of the regular season.....
-
Yeah. They may just make the first make up game in July a double-header and try to make up the other somehow.... That sucks though, I want to watch some Brewers baseball LOL
-
lol.....i hear ya....i was looking forward to watchin the Mets
-
Not much we can do I guess lol
-Brian
-
lol....nothing at all, but wait
-
whoa.......its nice and sunny here now B....they may actaully have the games tonight
-
yep, Cards won both games against the Blue Jays. yep. cool stuff.
I'm going to the game tomorrow. yay! :D
Amanda
-
Great batting by the Cards.
Go St. Louis; Go Pujols.
I know someone who has a Pujols T-shirt!
-
nice......Mets just tied it up 3-3
-
woop
Mets ahead by one now
-
damn.....tied at 4 now
-
Cards play Blue Jays tonight at 5:15 PDT.
Pujols leads the NL in batting at .369!
-
HEY! We have baseball, lol. And both of the games are going to be on Fox Sports Net.
*looks around to make sure Luis Vizcaino isn't pitching*
8-5, The Brewers may just win game 1 LOL
-
8-7. Clark's HR made that one close.
On to Game 2.
(Edit: 6:57 p.m. ct, simply because I don't feel like being a PW LOL)
Damn, a 51 pitch inning by Glavine, ouch. It is still a game though, with this team 4 runs isn't a whole lot, lol.
-Brian
-
Just getting underway!
I'm saying Cards, 6-3 tonight.
8)

i cant watch the games, i dont get the channel they are on..........looks like Mil. may take both games though.....
-
That sucks. Yeah, I hope that the Brewers can take both games. 5-3 right now. Peace out B
-Brian

Woody Williams surrendered one hit in his eight innings, while Pujols and Edmonds each hit solo homers to help the Cards beat the Blue Jays, 13-5.
Pujols is now batting an MLB best .379, and is among the leaders in home runs with 16 now.
The Cards slowly emerged with a 13-0 lead, before staving off a ninth-inning rally by Toronto to win by the margin of eight runs.
-
And lets not forget, the game's under protest.
-
To which game are you referring?
I was unaware of any wrongdoing in the St. Louis-Toronto game.
-
To which game are you referring?

Yup. Toronto protested the game in the second inning.
Evidently, there was a liner to left that was caught, and the Blue Jays tagged the other two runners our for a triple play. After the play, the entire thing was reversed to a single by the umps and the Blue Jays went pretty off (replays showed that it was trapped, but I can understand why the Blue Jays would be POed). Not quite sure WHAT they're protesting. You can't protest calls--only rules.
-
They are probably just protesting for the sake of protesting, lol. It was a very tough call without replay though.
-Brian
-
It's not like they're going to change an eight-run margin over that.
Boy, Hermanson sucked in the ninth inning on the mound for the Cards, didn't he. Amanda was pissed at LaRusa for not yanking him earlier.
Still, it's a win, and a sweep for the Cards!
