  sorry, something came up
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here it is!

SOMETHING FRESH FROM FROSH VOCALISTS

A gang of young female singer/songwriters is gearing up for sophomore outings. Michelle Branch releases an album June 24th, Nelly Furtado's next effot arrives Nov. 25th, and Avril Lavign'es latest is due in spring 2004.
And, in a couple of weeks, Vanessa Carlton will begin recording her follow-up to last year's platinum-plus Be Not Nobody. The 22-year-old will co-produce with Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins and says the CD, which she expects to unveil around March, will "have songs that stand on their own, with more spontaneous, organic production."
Carlton will play instruments other than the piano and will explore different textures. "I listened to a lot of Beatles and Miles Davis on my last tour, and I think my palette of sounds has expanded. One song I just wrote is kind of like The Cure meets eleanor rigby." Another number, she floats, planned as a duet with Neil Young, is either "about a girl who's living in utopia or a girl who's dead in a puddle. I can't decide."

Looks like the person who wrote this message just made an error. It seems they have changed it to 2004.

Anyways, nice article!  8)

Truthfully... I'm not sure how big a fan I am anymore of the current artists trying to revitalize/continue the careers of the aging artists.  Seems like the current album requirement is to either do a cover of an "oldie" or have an "oldie" sing with you and personally I'm just not enjoying it anymore.

*Scowls at Jason*

Neil Young's career is NOT fading and doesn't need to be revitalized.

And a lot of older artists do songs with younger artists beause it's a great mixing of suonds and styles.  Santana is a great guitarist and anything he can do to bring his work to a younger audience is a Good Thing (tm).  Neil Young is a great song writter, and anything he can do bring his work to a younger audince is a good thing (tm).

I think mixing Genras and Eras of music is nothing but a good thing because it encourages diversity.

Aww. I did a Neil Young cover on my album. Not out of any sort of requirements or anything like that... Honestly just because I LOVED the song.  I had a list of songs I was thinking about covering (because I knew I wanted 10-song album) and that one was just the most appropriate.

Neil Young is the man :)
