Hey,
Well I guess you have all heard of the lovely and amazing Delta Goodrem so I wont post about her in here because Elly has made a thread so Im going to tell you about a few new Australian Artists that you wouldnt of heard of.
Michala Banas
Michala has just released her 1st single called 'Kissin the Wind' and yes shes an actress lol.
She stars in a popular Aus show called Always Greener but she has seriously been singing longer than she has been acting.
Shes been in a few bands but wanted to go it alone.
So if you like could you please check her out?
Thanks
(http://www.hmv.com.au/product_images/880476.jpg)
Candice Alley
Candice was picked up by a radio stations record label called "Australian First".
Her new single 'Falling' is a keeper.
I love it to bits and its doing really, really well in the charts over here.
So please please pleaseeee download 'Falling' by Candice Alley you will not regret it.
Amiel
Amiel has been around for ages, her 1st song was Addicted to Base with Josh Abrahams (Puretone) its a really beaty song.
Here last song was called Lovesong but her new single is Obsession (I love you).
She has a real mellow sound but they are all great songs.
So if you like you could check her out aswell :D
(http://www.hmv.com.au/product_images/881831.jpg)
And ill keep adding artists as I remember them :D

-
so many of them! lol
thanks
-
Katie have you heard of Alex Lloyd? My roomate spent a semester in Australia and played his CD constantly when she came back. I liked it alot , especially the song Green.
-
Yeh sure do, he has two cds called Black the sun and Watching angels mend.
Green is off watching angels mend, they are both cool cds :)
(http://www.hmv.com.au/product_images/676362.jpg) (http://www.hmv.com.au/product_images/795754.jpg) hes won so many awards over here including Best male singer.
Hes a cool singer, but damn u should have seen him at the aria awards, he was malling his girlfriend LOL, the camera would zoom in on them and they would be all over each other haha.
Sure u needed to know that haha.
Heres his website if ur interested: http://www.alexlloyd.com/
Theres also a band called Powderfinger who kinda have the same music style as Alex Lloyd.
Some of their songs are, My happiness, These Days, and Treat me like a dog.
My sisters boyfriend loves them so he plays their music alot, they r cool 8)
You guys have grrrrreat music tastes.
-
yay! me like Alex
most of the songs i have are from Watching Angels Mend
Thanks Katie!

Mandy Kane
Mandy Kane is another Aussie act.
I hated his song the first few times I heard it but now I think it rocks!
It is called Stab!
Its the perfect song if you just feel like screaming or killing yourself (I dont advise you do that but thats what sort of song it it.)
The lyrics are awesome and its just a song that you need to be in the mood for.
I recomend it if you have just broken up with someone or are feeling a bit angrey.
Here are the lyrics:
(Goodbye sun, goodbye moon
I'm coming to where you are soon
Take a picture, make a wish
I've never felt as sure as this)
I've got a fetish, love is pathetic
And the world's about to end.
I'm up in the attic,
With Dad's automatic
And a note writ on my hand.
I've got sisters and brothers
Same as my mother
Won't get off my case
In the papers tomorrow
They'll fake all their sorrow
Then leave me here to waste
(chorus)
Rest me in pieces now, and cauterize your love for me (your love, your love)
Rest me in pieces now, and vaporize my history (my history)
Now take another stab at my heart.
I'm feeling sorry, nobody wants me
I'm gonna eat some steel
Adrenaline's peakin'
Logic is tweakin'
Life's never felt so real
I'm so sick of Al Qaeda
They're entertainers
Playin' on people's fear
So I'm fucking the system
I'm not a victim
I'm getting out of here
(chorus)
Take another stab at my heart
Take another stab at my heart
Now fight for my body
Fight for my body
(chorus)

-
(http://www.hmv.com.au/product_images/892927.JPG)
In lieu of her live performance at the ARIAs - I've no doubt the talent with
the greatest potential is indeed Candice Alley  It was so cool 8) how KT
and I exited into the foyer from door 17 @ night's end and there she was!
-
i wanna go to Australia!!...but i don't know any singer/songwriters from there...
-
I would definately recommend
Candice Alley: Falling and Dream the day away.
Anita Spring: Blink (Stay a little longer) and So your thinking.
Brooke McClymont: I don't think, I know
Powderfinger: My happiness, These days, Love your way & (Baby I've got you) On my mind.
Something for Kate: Some for the sleep walker, Monsters and Deja Vu
Motor Ace: Pieces, Keeping secrets and Carry on.
Pete Murray: Feeler
David Campbell: When shes gone
Alex Lloyd: Amazing & Coming Home
Lo-Tel: Angel, Teenagers of the year, CRUCIFIX and a pop song saved my life.
Amiel: Love song, Tonight and (Obsession) I love you.
Thats all i can think of at the moment but i will keep adding
I know you already have some Delta songs Rosie so i wont add her but see if you can track down: Lost for words, Hear me calling and Right there waiting by Delta.
Joey you can come over and i will show you a good Australian singer *clears throat*
"Me me me me meeee, ah ah ah ah ah ah ah, Oh I just can't wait to be kinggggg"

Sandrine
(http://www.hmv.com.au/product_images/902985.jpg)
Australian singer/songwriter Sandrine released her stunning debut album
"Trigger" in Australia this week. Its was released on Nov 3 - my Birthday!
1 TRIGGER
2 SHOWER
3 HABIT
4 BRUISES
5 NOWHERE
6 LIVING IN SIN
7 SCHOOLGIRL
8 DISSECTION
9 TV
10 FALL
11 HOW HARD
12 BEAUTIFULLY UGLY
Trigger is the debut album from Sydney singer/songwriter Sandrine, though you'd be excused for finding it hard to believe. The songs are simply too accomplished and carry too much emotional potency to be the work of an apparent novice. As a songwriter and performer she is a natural, the songs simply flow and are delivered with such raw emotion that they stay with you long after they are finished. Trigger is one of the most dreamy, beautiful and original albums you will hear.

Pete Murray
Butterfly Boucher
HOLLY VALANCE don't know if she sings or writes though, but she's my favourite :D
There needs to be a band thread.
-
I love Butterfly Boucher!!!
-
I love Butterfly Boucher!!!
-
Butterfly Boucher is the ish :D
-
Now I'm confused Talitha - I was under the impression that was a 1927 CD
1 TO LOVE ME
2 THAT'S WHEN I THINK OF YOU
3 IF I COULD
4 YOU'LL NEVER KNOW
5 COMPULSORY HERO
6 ALL THE PEOPLE
7 NOTHING IN THE UNIVERSE
8 PROPAGANDA MACHINE
9 GIVE THE KID A BREAK
10 THE MESS
I must look out for this title next time I'm at HMV! The name is so familiar!
-
I just checked out Butterfly's website and its really cool.
The web address is: http://www.butterflyboucher.com/main.html
Ive never seen a website like it, its really impressive.
I love her song so much, "I can't make me" is very good.
All the things I wanna say but I can't
All the things I wanna do but I won't
Hold me tight
But not too tight
And I'm relaxed but you tell me I'm posed
I feel pretty, I know that you care
You're so sweet
You're so, so sweet
It's not a hurry that we're in
It's the pollen, it's the spring
But I can't make me love you
And you can't make me either
Patience, boy, I need it
I can't make me love you
Oh oh oh
Paper, pen and a piece of your heart
I can't read it, but where do I start?
What to do?
What do I do?
And I am going but I'm gonna come back
And maybe then, maybe this, maybe that
Hold me tight
But not too tight
It's not a hurry that we're in
There's no problem, that's the thing
But I can't make me love you
And you can't make me either
Patience, boy, I need it
I can't make me love you
Oh...
Everyday there's something new to hold onto
A little more of you
But I can't make me love you
And you can't make me either
Patience, boy, I need it
I can't make me love you
Patience, boy, on strange days
I can't make me love you
Oh oh oh
It's not a hurry that we're in
It's the pollen, it's the spring
It's not a hurry that we're in
It's the pollen, it's the spring
It's not a hurry...

And Aaron, Phonik already has a designer, those sites didn't just make themselves :p

Talitha its not Steph's webby design talent I was refering to in this instance
rather the quality of the design output on the DELTApparel that impressed!
... and yes the graphic design at Phonik totally rocks! Go the NESSAussies!
-
We're working on things...just nothing from one of those online stores or anything lol...we're definitely looking at getting stuff done, I just have to wait for her new management to get back to me, which they havent done yet :(

Missy Higgins
(http://www.missyhiggins.com/store/scar_ep.jpg)
Dressed all in black and with her petite frame she looked cold, although even by the end of the first bar her whiskey laced vocals and dynamic powerful performance had already begun to warm the crowd. The sound echoing throughout the palais was wonderful, not only from the convincing matureness in her music but also the majestic walls it bounced off. Her lyrics were enticing and emotion driven and matched her compelling musical talent perfectly. Looking at her it could be easy to make comparisons to another leading femaile talent in Australia but by the end of this magical performance I was left with the question, Delta? Delta who??
Missy is about get get much more exposure as support act for Pete Murray's
July/August tour dates - perfect timing with her Scar EP due out August 2nd!

I just watched the 'Greed For Your Love' video and I have to say I was impressed. Even though it takes a while for a non-aussie to get used to her accent, her voice is amazing. I love it!!
Thanks for posting about her Aaron :)

Missy Higgins and Bic Runga are 2 of the best. I've been a huge fan of Missy's for a few years and have been patiently waiting for her album.
I'd recommend "the special two" and "all for believing" which you can get from iTunes (along w/ her whole EP).
-

AMY VEE
www.amyvee.com
Amy Vee (not to get confused with Amy Lee) is an unsigned Australian singer/song writer.
I first heard her song Where you are on my local radio station NOVA.
Her voice is so sweet and if you go to her website you can hear 1 minute samples of about 3 of her songs I think.
She is a talented writer as you will get to hear but I just dont know why no stinking record label hasnt nabbed her up yet :)
Hopefully some big shot would have been listening to her on Nova aswell.
This woman can sing so if you like plz check out her website<3
(http://www.amyvee.com/1stApril_solo1_sml.JPG)
Here are the lyrics to her currently released song
Where You Are
(© 2003 A.Vee)
You appeared like something surreal
Given breath by the candlelight
Though it burned not nearly as vivid as that image did on my mind
I could go on for hours in my head
These ruminations they taunt
To the point where I lose myself in the abyss of my own thought
Well they say you never miss your water unless you drown
Was never troubled by the clouds
Till I knew the splendour of the stars
Now when I look to the sky I just wanna be where you are
Where you are
Smothered by relentless yearnings
And the needing leaves me drained
Oh the craving comes and goes, but the wanting’s here to stay
It’s menial but it makes sense now –
All this poetry-come-prose
It’s an undeniable transformation
But I pray it never shows
Cos even within arm’s reach, I’m worlds away
Was never troubled…
Where are you?
It’s still with me, it’s still with me
You appeared like something surreal
Given breath by the sun’s dear light
The breath that is fuel to this fire burning for all time
[/img]

I found some pictures and an interview on Missy.
Here is the coca cola interview
Tim Cashmere: You have a bunch of cool instruments on your debut E.P., do you envisage these when you're writing a song?
Missy Higgins: No. Not at all. It all gets decided in the production process. When I wrote the song, I never really… well it depends on the song really… but most of the songs were written a while ago when I never even imagined playing in a band really. It was just me and a piano, or a guitar as 'Greed for Your Love' is. Yeah, it was just a bit of an experiment in the studio. I like unusual instruments. I don't like the standard bass, drums and guitar or piano sound.
TC: Are you one of those people who can just pick up an instrument and be a whiz in five minutes?
MH: No. I wish I could say that!
TC: Don't we all! Anyway, at the age of twenty you've already been around America, Europe (albeit unrelated to music) and East Timor. How did you get chosen for the last one?
MH: Well, Triple J was organizing it through the whole Unearthed thing. That was amazing.
TC: What is a military audience like to play to?
MH: Well it was military, but some of the time the East Timorese people would come in and watch. A military audience is kind of weird. Pretty much how you would imagine a troop of males that haven't seen a female in a long time and have been stuck in a base camp in the middle of nowhere for too long without any alcohol. It was a bit like that, but they were really funny great guys and they never have things like this, like a show. It was with Killing Heidi and they all loved them and Paul Dempsey from Something for Kate and Groove Terminator, so some of them found it a bit hard to settle down a listen to a quiet piano solo set from a female singer.
TC: They didn't throw you in the middle of all the harder acts did they?
MH: No, I usually went first. No, GT went first.
TC: How many shows did you do?
MH: I don't know. I was over a couple of weeks, maybe thirteen shows or something. We just went to all the base camps. There was a whole lot of them. It was so fucking hot as well and we had to wear a uniform, like a khaki thick hard yakka pants and long sleeve top. You weren't allowed to show any skin because of… the mosquitoes or something, because of malaria and because you weren't allowed to turn the guys on or anything like that! You had to be very asexual. God it was so hot! Some of them, like there was this one show at a stadium that had 6,000 people and all the troops and generals and everything were sitting on the stairs and on the grass with the East Timorese kids and it started pouring down with rain, but they all stayed because they'd never seen anything like it before!
TC: I imagine that was quite a contrast to America…
MH: Yes. Well, I've never toured in America, but I've been back and forth there because of the record company over there.
TC: Who runs your website? www.missyhiggins.com?
MH: Um… His name is… Duane someone?
TC: Poor Duane is probably trying to hold in the tears because you don't remember his name!
MH: I know! I've only met him once! Otherwise it's just been corresponding through e-mail. That's really bad though! It's probably not even Duane, it's probably something else.
TC: Duane is a cool name though.
MH: Really? I wish I had a flower name, like Rosie or Violet or Daisy. It's so cute! I'm going to call my kids all flower names!
TC: You could do it the American way and name your kids after qualities that you hope they will grow up to have, like Faith and Hope.
MH: [Laughs] Yeah right. American culture is so different to Australian. It's so bizarre going from here to there all the time.
TC: Do you think your music will integrate well over there?
MH: I actually don't have a clue. They keep telling me how different the American market is to the Australian market and I'm beginning to realise how different it is. You really have to fit into a radio category because they're so defined all the radio stations that it seems really difficult to break in. The latest Silverchair record they found really hard to accept and that was such a brilliant album I thought! But I don't know, I don't really care. I'd much rather be successful over here than in America.
TC: …and you're taking the first step to that by touring with George. A tour which you're midway through I believe?
MH: Yeah I've done about five shows.
TC: You've been back [from America] for five days and you've already done five shows. That's a good effort!
MH: Yeah, I've done a show every night since I've been back. It's been fun. We've had amazing audiences, they've just been stone quiet. I thought they Waifs audience were quiet, but these are really well behaved!
TC: Is that good or bad?
MH: It's really good as long as they're responsive at the end when you finish, they can be as quiet as they want. It's great when they're quiet because my music is so quiet that if people talk then it really gets lost.
TC: You could get a bigger P.A.
MH: Yeah, well that's loud, but when people start talking over my music then no one really around them can hear. It's not a huge band sound, but it's been really cool. It's been great.

Brooke Fraser
(http://graphics.sonymusic.com.au/cdcovers/medium/5135712000.jpg)
 The debut album from 20 y-o Brooke Fraser What To Do With Daylight
Brooke wrote all 11 tracks on the album and played instruments on each song.
The album's contrast of haunting, soul-searching confessions and lighthearted, joyful tunes reflects the different sides of Brooke's personality - the young woman who has been involved with World Vision for two years, and is travelling to Cambodia with the charity group; and the teenager who spends hours hanging out with friends and forming her next plan of attack against zits.
Talented guest musicians who performed on Brooke's album include infamous New Zealand muso Godfrey de Grut, Spearhead bassist Carl Young and producer / drummer Brady Blade.
Brooke's first single Better exploded onto the music charts, peaking at #3 with her second single "Lifeline" looking likely to do the same.
Her musical influences range from soulful crooners Marvin Gaye and James Taylor to new millenium artists including John Mayer and India Arie. She also plays a variety of musical instruments, including the piano, which she began studying at seven, and the guitar, which she taught herself at 16.
Brooke Fraser is an incredible talent who writes beyond her years and will surely have a long and stellar career.

Melissa Tallon
(http://www.b105.com.au/prizes/cdoftheweek/cd-21.jpg) (http://www.hmv.com.au/events/melissa_tallon/melissa_trackbytrack.htm)
Released in Australia 08/09 8)
“I am passionate about originality. I’m drawn to it.” Melissa Tallon creates the kind of music that is timeless. It is the combination of her intoxicating voice, mysterious beauty and compositions that mine the rich vein of life experience. “Songs to me are just everything – that’s where it all starts”, says the Brisbane based artist.
Tallon’s album is full of faith. It’s raw, honest and brimming with strong melodies. Its delicacy is complimented by the intrinsic and fresh production. “21” is the first single from Tallon’s canny debut album and it’ll entwine itself around your psyche. Melissa reflects that “21” is about grief and sudden change. You know, when you wake up one morning and everything is suddenly different ...” “Dreaming” is layered with elegant textures and chart-friendly pop sense. “Open My Eyes” has that same sure-hit feel and “If I Had” touches a raw sensual nerve. On this track, Melissa’s playing is dirtied up with a sexy groove, “ ‘If I Had’ is all about just taking a chance, forgetting your inhibitions and seizing the moment.” And if ever you needed a reason to get out of the house “Sunday” is a song that dreams up a heaven of blue skies, full sails and jazzy grooves.
Born in Brisbane, Australia, Melissa spent her childhood in Papua New Guinea before moving back to Queensland. Playing keyboards at 7, she wrote her first song at 10, “Music has always moved me even when I was a little girl. I used to find that the most interesting tunes would move me to tears.”
At 17, Melissa was accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium of Music but a family financial crisis forced the sale of her childhood piano. “When I didn’t have it, I used to go into music stores and play for hours. I thought, wow, I have all this music to write – just give me a piano and I’ll do it.”
The new millennium heralded a bright beginning for Melissa when EMI Music Publishing’s John Anderson signed her to a worldwide deal as a singer/songwriter. “There’s a great depth and sense of life experience to Melissa’s music. Those aspects of her lyrics and songs are very appealing and have attracted the attention of true believers like Doug James who heads our US Film and Soundtrack division” he beams.
“If He’s The One”, a piano and strings ballad, has since featured in an episode of NBC network’s popular romantic comedy series, “Miss Match” [starring Alicia Silverstone].
All 14 songs were recorded at Studios 301 Sydney and Byron Bay where Melissa worked closely with producer David Nicholas (Sting, Elton John & George). “I just know how it all sounds. When I write the music I can hear where it should be…”
It’s an elaborate debut that features arranger Daniel Denholm (Silverchair, Alex Lloyd, Paul Mac) working with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Outside the studio confines Melissa is empowered by playing live. “It gives you a sense of confidence about what you’re doing and what connects with people”.
Tallon has now been approached by Disney to write a song for the movie “Ice Princess”. “I’m very excited about that, it’s an absolute privilege.” Her musical mentors span a wide spectrum from Beethoven, Mozart and Bach through to Bacharach, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones. Melissa loves melody. Her music is addictive and one listen to this album is not enough.

Cosima is number one again this week with When the war is over while Scar by Missy creaps into second on the ARIA charts.
The Missy Higgins website has been updated to celebrate the release of The Sound of White and its really quite cool.
Now you can watch the Scar video, download new Missy wallpaper and AIM icons and also pre order her CD which comes with an extra live CD.
I might order it from the site bc its $29.99 from HMV and with the postage and handling from the the site it is less than at HMV so ill order it tomorrow and send off my money order.
I also got my The Missy Higgins EP in the mail today and I love it so much.

Here is an interview with Missy Higgins :D
Who are your 3-5 favourite Australian artists?
The Waifs
Lisa Miller
Paul Kelly
Frente
What are your 3-5 most played Australian releases? Why?
I listen to community radio like PBS and RRR most of the time to tell you the truth, I don’t really listen to albums much, I like to listen to new stuff constantly.
Recently I had the Lisa Miller Car Tape album on in my car though and I thought it was beautiful, I had the first song on repeat until I got whacked by my passenger. And since I finished the Waifs tour I’ve missed hearing them every night so I’ve been listening to all their albums constantly. Their music makes me feel happy. I just heard the Black Eyed Susan’s latest album, which I really liked, it went lots of different colourful places and that guy’s voice is sexy.
What do you think is the most influential Australian music release and why?
I think Paul Kelly (especially the album Post) has influenced so many Australian artists, I guess because of the simplicity of his lyrics and melody lines which makes it more accessible. But he has never been afraid to sound Australian with his accent and lyrics, which is what we need more of, I think. Artists who don’t try to be anyone that they’re not, because it always shows through.
Which Australian performer (past or present) would you most like to work with?
Probably Daniel Jones because I think he’s a great song writer, but then again anyone I admire I’d probably be too intimidated to work with. Sad isn’t it.
Describe your most memorable Australian music moment?
Going to East Timor With Paul Dempsey (Something for kate), Groove Terminator and Killing Heidi to play for the troops. I hadn’t played many gigs so it was my first real tour, if that’s what you’d call it. But we all became such great friends and it was such a mind-opening experience.
The East Timorese people are so beautiful and positive which is amazing and inspirational to see and be amongst considering what they’ve all been through. I also have a lot of respect for the troops that were stationed there, they were all so bored but so unconditionally dedicated at the same time.
What are your three favourite music websites?
Um, I don’t really know many. I like www.allmusic.com as it has heaps of info about almost anyone. www.Labeloflove.com has some great local (Melbourne) bands on it.
What, where and when was the first local gig you attended?
My brother’s old jazz band Smirkin used to play in clubs around Melbourne and I used to try and get in to see them all the time. My sister used to do my makeup but I think my chubby cheeks were always a giveaway to the bouncers.
Can you tell a story behind your latest release?
I wrote the single Greed for your love while I was backpacking around Europe with my friend. I’m not used to writing on guitar and I couldn’t take my piano with me so it took ages, about four countries I think! My friend was so sick of the song by the time I’d finished it in Cinque Terre, Italy. Then the next day I left my guitar on the train on the way to Spain. I miss that guitar, it was my first and it was called Ranger.
What is the most important issue facing Australian music?
I think the thing this country’s scene has always done best is to nurture unique and original artists. It seems like there is a greater tendency these days towards manufacturing really poppy artists who sound like overseas pop acts. I think the Oz music scene should be focusing on getting fresh, innovative artists out there, and that’s how we’ll make our mark.
http://standanddeliver.blogs.com/dombo/2004/08/missy_higgins_1.html <- here is another interview with Missy where you can actually download the MP3 and listen to the interview with little previews of some of her songs 8) interesting. DOWNLOAD THIS

Laura Imbruglia and the Crybabys
(http://www.smh.com.au/ffxImage/urlpicture_id_1017206289229_2002/04/07/ent_lauraimbruglia8.jpg)
For emerging musicians, it doesn't get much grittier than the weekly Wednesday night acoustic sessions at Glebe's Excelsior Hotel. The acts set up on a small piece of carpet next to the ladies toilet, between the restaurant and the pokie room.
Entry is free, the singers are often paid in complimentary drinks and a small PA and guitar amplifiers help keep the music's volume above that of the audience's chattering.
A strange venue, then, for a woman with a famous name to make her first tentative steps from the long shadow cast by her pop-star sister. But for Laura Imbruglia, 19-year-old sister of chart-topping Natalie, at least it was a gig.
Dressed down in a black Partridge Family T-shirt and old denim jeans and sneakers, Imbruglia performed a raw, feisty, humorous set of original songs that, at times, would've made a nun - let alone Natalie - blush.
Imbruglia, looking strikingly like her big sister, was a support act for local performer Melanie Horsnell.
In front of a receptive crowd of about 40, Imbruglia appeared nervous as she cradled an acoustic guitar and introduced her performance: "Hi, I'm Laura. These are some silly songs, feel free to laugh. If you don't, it doesn't matter."
Her folk-influenced tunes, not at all like her sister's polished pop, bore titles such as Head Shrink, If I Recall, Mr Clown and I'm Not. The latter's curious lyrics, delivered with gusto, included: "Why does everyone think I'm gay?/It wouldn't be a problem if I was/But I'm not/To all the girls/Please don't come on to me/I'm paranoid/It freaks me out/Now I'm feeling Ricky Martin's pain/They think I'm gay/But I'm not gay."
Afterwards Imbruglia spoke briefly to The Sun-Herald but declined to be interviewed. She said she was uncomfortable about being photographed during her performance and wanted to know how the paper knew about her appearance at the pub.
A source close to Imbruglia said the singer, who has done few live performances, had been hurt by an experience with another newspaper.
"It's too early in her development," the source said. "She is a shy person and not comfortable doing interviews. She needs a lot of work and we really don't want too much fuss."

Chloë

Stars
'Stars' is the debut single for new Australian singer/songwriter Chloe, who has created a genre-bending soundscape of lush beats, pop, folk, soul & rock on her debut album 'Beyond Coming', due out early next year.
Having spent the last few years writing, recording, performing in the US and beyond, Chloe's earthy and worldly sounds, inspired by everyone from Sting to Erykah Badu, have won her a devoted following on the live circuit, that's set to expand even further with her debut recordings.
Written by Chloe in conjunction with Path Productions and produced by the legendary Paul Fox (XTC's Oranges and Lemons', Sugarcubes' 'Stick Around for Joy' and 10,000 Maniac's 'Our Time in Eden'), 'Stars' is a shimmering, uplifting hook-laden pop ballad about realising your own potential and finding your inner star!
"Stars is about making your dreams a reality, going beyond your boundaries, and not letting anything stand in your way. It's a song about friendship, empowerment, possibilities and determination."
The single includes the radio edit of 'Stars' plus the Buchman mix and an acoustic version of the track.

The Veronicas
(http://network.news.com.au/image/0,10114,5036373,00.jpg)
Dynamic duo Lisa (left) and Jess Origlasso
POP twins The Veronicas have burst out of bedroom obscurity to become the next big thing on the international pop scene.
Back from their Los Angeles base to launch their debut single, Jess and Lisa Origlasso, both 20, have found instant fans whenever they set foot out of their Sydney hotel this week.
(http://www.hmv.com.au/product_images/986470.jpg) (http://www.hmv.com.au/product/singles.asp?sku=986470)
Their single 4ever has been inescapable on the airwaves and on TV.
Their relentless schedule has paid off with the girls' natural charm and edgy pop sound attracting a constant stream of wellwishers.
"It's surreal," Lisa said.
"It's the thing you dream about when you're 16 and writing songs in your bedroom but you are never prepared for it to become a reality."
Advertisement:
The twins, from Brisbane, scored a multi-million-dollar recording deal with American label Sire late last year, the biggest contract for an unknown act ever signed in the US.
The single hits US radio next week.
Sire is helmed by legendary US music mogul Syemour Stein, who signed Madonna, the Ramones, Talking Heads, Lou Reed, The Pretenders, The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine and k.d. lang.
Discovered by Australian producer Andrew Klippel, who has brokered international recording deals for The Vines and Holly Valance, The Veronicas have also impressed some of the world's biggest hitmakers.
"I think people like the vibe of what we are doing -that it's fun, upbeat and a bit edgy," Lisa said.
Jess added: "And the fact we are writing our own songs. We've been relieved that not too many people have tried to accuse us of being a manufactured pop act."

Kasey Chambers
They are a few but if I think of any more (theres heaps out there but my minds blank atm sorry) Ill add to the list

Natalie Imbruglia
(http://api.mds.cw.com/xmlserver/img/021000-021999/med_21184.jpg)
I AM A BIG FAN OF NATALIE IMBRUGLIA.. AND I CAN TELL YOU SURELY THAT SHE DOESN'T SING WITH THE AUSSIE ENGLISH
Have you ever heard a TODIE (TODAY) KAIME (CAME) in any of her songs?????
Her First album, she was forced to americanise it.. the second one, it was a mix of Brit and Ame... and her 3 album is with a strong brit accent, but not Aussie, it may be because most of time she spends in UK
The other ones above, I'm gonna check
-
Well, I can understand the english languaje and I can distinguish the british, australian and american accents when someone is talking but it harder to do that when they are singing.
-
YOU CAN'T SEE IT BECAUSE OF THE F***** Americans that think that they're all that and the brits, irish, aussies and etc want to show off for them.....
ARRRGGHHH I hate USA and its power...

YOU CAN'T SEE IT BECAUSE OF THE F***** Americans that think that they're all that and the brits, irish, aussies and etc want to show off for them.....
ARRRGGHHH I hate USA and its power...
oh my god. please stop that now. just because our president might be an arrogant crook doesn't mean we all think we're the shit. I hardly identify with my country. I would rather be australian, or english, or whatever. Stop the hatred, it's rediculous and will get nobody anywhere, fast.
-
Hey.. someone could tell me a good female or male aussie singer, not an old one.. but a recent singer which sings with the true Aussie accent?
Depends what you mean by TRUE Aussie accent...
As with any country, the accent is a bit different in different regions.
The "Aussie accents" I hear in films usually sound really fake to me. (usually because they are, and sometimes because they just sound different to me!)
I'm South Australian and my "accent" sounds like Claire on Lost (I heard she is a south aussie too)
As for singers, I don't know any that haven't already been mentioned, but I agree that Missy sounds a little bogan-ish... I don't talk or sing like her!
-
I would rather be australian
Aw :infinity:
Have you ever heard a TODIE (TODAY) KAIME (CAME) in any of her songs?????
"TODIE"!? I've never heard a "todie"... in anyone's song. But I've also never heard the word "promiscious"....
-
YOUTH GROUP.
seriously. they have a song called "under the underpass" and they say "pass" not "pass". know what i mean?
they sing in aussie voices.
For those of you who are like, who are Youth group?, they covered "Forever Young" as it was used on The OC.
Album is called "Casino Twilight Dogs" and you should all listen to their song "catching and killling".
that is all.
-
kasey chambers has a strong aussie accent.
