Europeans have a TOTALLY different school thing than we did, if I remember correctly. Like, they're different ages than we a when they go into the same grade, and I don't even think Europeans call them grades. O_o Anywho, does it matter?

Welcome person.

#1 College is middle school. Lycee is high school and universitaire is College.
#2 The translation to English is straight off the web. Like they translated to French then back. Because I don't know places that would be so extremely literal...and a true French student's English, though rusty, would be good enough to say; "My name is...," as opposed to the European, "I am called...." I don't know. Seems shady 'à moi.'
But welcome! ;)

ohh yay I get to practice french!! woop!
Bonjour! Je m'appelle Shelly.J'ai quatorze ans.J'aime vanessa carlton. J'adore chanter avec mes amis.J'ai oublié de faire la vaisselle.J'ai préparé la café avec ma mère.

and the french school stystem starts from like 12 and then they go down to 1 opposed to us who go from grade 1 to 12. Yup...the things I learn in french class.

ahh, all countries in Europe do it differently- its not like we're some kinda superstate and every country has the same education system!!! lol, In England we call them years- the year you join is year 1, etc etc, in Italy they are like platforms 'terza', hard to describe!
Sorry, i don't wanna sound harsh i am just so fed up of everyone thinking 'europe' is all one massive place.
ooh and more importantly: BONJOUR! i know no french at all but so cool to have you here!

Haha. Go Rosie!
Yeah everyone, we're a lot different from other european countries. Specificially, most other european countries can control crime, have reasonable health services, can reasonably manage their own economies and have at least a half-decent education system. We can do/have none of those things.

OKay, that's nice and all but if my sister's pen pal asked her what "year" she's in . . .and she's 10 years old going into 5th grade in America . . .what "year" would be the equivalent?
Yes, this just happened . . . and she'd really like an answer, if anyone can help
