Title: Bright Eyes
Post by: jlmusicchick on July 30, 2003, 05:50:14 pm
anyone like them? they've started to make quite a name for themselves on the  underground scene...there's too many songs by them to say which ones are best to download, but the two that i've been listening to most are "Waste of Paint" and "Lover I don't Have to Love". "Drunk Kid Catholic" and "Padriac My Prince" are pretty good as well.

^that's Connor Oberst, the lead singer. the picture was taken from http://www.sagamore.iupui.edu/32/32-11/11bright-eyes.html

i have yet to see them in concert or anything like that. my best friend who is set on marrying connor turned me on to their music...it's awesome! check 'em out  :)

He REALLY is! I mean, you hear his lyrics . . . And then, like HOOBASTANK'S new song's lyrics and you're like . . . This is impossible. There's no way you can have someone so talented and then someone so lyrically challenged in the same world.

connnie is coming out with TWO new cds in early 2005, he has THAT much new material.

it's exciting.
i heard one is gonna be folky, traditional bright eyes.
and the other is gonna be more electronic.

sounds good.

Conor is amazing live. I went to his Louisville concert (at the Brown Theater, for whoever cares) and his harp player (I don't want to call them a harpist for fear of incorrect vocabulary) opened with a solo that eventually led into "Sunrise, Sunset", which is a brilliant song off a brilliant album. He is AMAZING live, it's well worth the not very high ticket price. ($20, typically). If you want to see the tour dates and such, the official website is here (http://www.saddle-creek.com).[/url]

He's touring in Canada, if you're willing to go there =)

He usually has at least one tour for every album. For Digital Ash and I'm Wide Awake he had a total of four a) Digital Ash Tour, b) I'm Wide Awake tour, c) Whatever the hell he wants to play from any album Tour, and d) Canadian tour. His next album comes out sometime in 07. Much anticipated.

He might have before...I'm not sure, they don't keep records but he might have played in London once. I'm sure he will; most of his tours are international.

lol, oh yeah...He'll probably go there for the next album, which is supposed to be in 2007. Nothing official yet, but he said he'd take time on this album....thing is with Bright Eyes, taking "time" on an album is taking 5 months instead of 4 weeks. Regardless, I'd love it if he released another album like Lifted..., that was an amazing cd...

"Lifted..." isn't my favorite album, but it's hands-down his best. It's an amazing CD and everyone on this miserable planet should buy it.

I think he's a great lyricist from what I've heard of his music...but his voice...um...isn't my thing.  Couldn't he just be a poet?  lol.

Most people who don't like him don't like him because of his voice. That's OK, though. He is a great writer. BTW, his new album should be out in March or April of next year, maybe sooner, and he's releasing an EP (by that I think he means a single, not something like "Every Day and Every Night) before that.

Yeah I think with the greatest song writers of our time they're not the greateset singers but that doesn't matter, him and pete doherty are the tops in my opinion

His voice isn't that great, but it doesn't bother me. His lyrics are amazing; I wish I could write like that.

It was.

Has anybody bought the new rarity album, "Noise Floor"? I love it, I keep listening to it over and over again. As with all Bright Eyes albums, each song has its own thing you love about it. "I Will Be Grateful for This Day", "The Trees Get Wheeled Away", "Spent on Rainy Days", "I've Been Eating For You", and "Bad Blood" are my favorites.
